"One of my favorite places in the town center to stop and grab a coffee and a bite to eat. The food is excellent, providing a wide selection of options, from a lovely sandwich to something hot. The coffee is out of this world and beats the likes of Costa or Starbucks, hands down, which are just a rip-off due to their names (always support local businesses . The staff are so friendly, and the new management team have hit the ground running in taking over this local gem seamlessly, without sacrificing the quality, service, or efficiency of this busy hot spot. Keep up the amazing work and service Baobab team!"

"I had my first visit to this amazing hidden gem of a restaurant. It was immaculately clean with a small yet fantastic menu. I ordered a large bolognaise which we enjoyed later that same night and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant definitely lives up to its standards without any faults. I will definitely be visiting again."

"I had a great experience at this restaurant. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. I tried the Chicken Pie with vegetables and spring onion mashed potatoes, it was very satisfying. The atmosphere at the pub was welcoming and I would definitely come back. The staff were all very kind and attentive."

"We went for a Sunday afternoon roast. The service was great and the food was excellent. We had the private room which is lovely if you have a big group. It gives you that home away from home vibe. Food was slightly pricey, but staff were friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend. Price per person: £40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"After hearing so many good reviews from friends and family about this place I was really excited to go with a good friend for a catch up. Regret to say I was so bitterly disappointed. We sat and the restaurant was full at 7pm when we arrived. Our server asked about our drinks quite quickly and we hadn't even had a chance to look at the menu. It then took a further 10 minutes before our order for drinks was taken. Our food order was taken quickly after that and came out about 10 minutes after ordering. I found it really odd that the pasta I ordered only had four bits of pasta in it, but it was a really nice dish. After that Is when it started to get a bit uncomfortable. It was very clear they were busy and so were really really pushy about getting us to finish. My friend hadn't even put his fork down before the server took his plate from him. We laughed it off and tried to ignore it but it happened again with the bread, taken half finished and we hadn't even had half of the olives we ordered before they were taken away without him asking if we had finished with them. I wouldn't have minded if we had been there for hours but it was 8pm by this point and we had our table at 7pm. It had barely been an hour before what we felt like we were pushed out the door. The bill was given without us asking for it before we had finished our wine (still having half a bottle and two full glasses) and then the card machine was brought over again without us giving any indication that we were ready. I would understand if they had another reservation after us but if that was the case it would have been good to know, or we wouldn't have booked there if this was how we were going to be treated. We then went out for drinks elsewhere and something to eat as the portions were laughably small for the price. Don't think I would return again. Such a shame for a place with a very good reputation."

"Edited previous 5 star review due to being under new management. Jan 24. I wasn’t going to leave a review however I responded to a friend with an honest account of my experience last night on one of the pubs Facebook posts and they deleted the comment. I feel it’s only right that negative comments are seen as well as the positive. The food was beautiful, I can’t fault it however… We had a table for 2 booked for 7pm, we arrived at the same time as another table for 2 who also booked for 7pm and we were met with “Sorry there aren’t any tables at the moment would you mind waiting” We ordered a drink and waited to then be told by another member of staff “There aren’t any tables” and “There’s not a lot I can do about it at the moment” In hindsight we should have left at this point but didn’t, we got seated at around 7.30 and only because I suggested they move a table as a table for 2 were sat at a table for 4 of 2 tables pushed together. We were meant to be table of 3 but my mum was unwell and it’s a good job because she wouldn’t have fit at the table lol. We were then left with no offer of a menu, and ended up getting our own cutlery. In the end we were given one menu to share between us.. and the other table that came in at the same time as us also had to share our menu. When someone finally came to take our order we had been there near on an hour. During the experience I received the wrong drink, the wrong curry and one poppadom between 2 of us.. we had to ask for the other one. I do want to stress that the food is absolutely wonderful however the whole ordeal left me stressed when it was meant to be a relaxing evening. We did voice our concerns and I didn’t accept the offer to change my curry as we had already waited far too long and it was getting late but I was incredibly disappointed. We also turned down a free drink because this wasn’t offered until the very end and after 15/20 minutes of waiting for the card machine to work and to be honest we were ready to leave a long time before that so didn’t want to stay. Also I’m not sure if they have a dessert menu as this was never offered… The 2 women next to us had an even worse experience. I had to ask for their poppadoms for them and when their food eventually came to the table they had their starters and mains arrive together with no plates or cutlery. Once the busy period died down another table of around 6 men joined and they got their food before them! The excuse given at the time was “it was extremely busy” and it turned out they had given the tables away to walk ins. This to me is an unacceptable excuse and the only reason we stayed was to give it a chance and it was too late notice to book somewhere else. The experience we had means we won’t be returning for food which is a great shame because it is delicious and it’s one’s of our locals. I am only sharing my experience because the pub is deleting comments on social media and I think it’s only fair people are able to see a true reflection of the pub and are not tricked in to thinking this is a 10/10 restaurant/pub because it’s far from it (I really didn’t want that to be my opinion but I have to be honest)"

"A group of us came to see the Robbie Williams tribute evening (Dan Budd as Robbie Williams was very entertaining) in the upstairs 505 room. The menu choices were excellent, the food was delicious, and the service from the superb staff was first class. The evening was great value for money and I would highly recommend an evening in the 505 room and indeed the White Horse in general! One member of our group cannot eat gluten due to coeliac disease and thanks to the clearly labelled menu, the extensive variety of dishes available and the considerate and caring nature of the staff (who proactively advised our friend that the kitchen had separate areas and equipment for producing the gluten free dishes) was made to feel very welcome and comfortable and they had a great evening. If only more venues could follow the fine example set by the White Horse in catering for people who cannot eat gluten."

"Had a late night curry at the Mount Gurkha and have to say it was absolutely delicious. Menu is your usual range of curries that you might find at an Indian restaurant with standard prices but I have to say that the Chicken Karahi that I had was really good in all aspects including flavour and portion size. Friendly and efficient service look forward to going again."

"I provided this feedback via their in-house feedback form but they didn’t bother to reply. My girlfriend booked us a table. When we checked the lady behind the bar was puzzled, unable to find our table. Was referred to “manager” who took us to a table with a card showing the table was reserved for another guest. Why no label for our table? Although there were many nice alcoves with a modicum of privacy our table was an awkward add-on in an awkward position with no privacy whatsoever. We ordered drinks that arrived timely and we ordered our roast lamb dinner. Three more times different staff asked us if we had ordered yet? Another example of the chaotic management style!! Within minutes the next table just a few feet away showed themselves to be very inconsiderate with a constantly barking dog under the table, very loud barking. I made my feeling very clear to the staff and soon the barking was stopped. Why allow dogs into the eating area? It’s not appropriate!! We started eating out roast dinner only to be disturbed again by a multiple tray crash, three separate crashes one after the other followed by staff rushing past us to investigate and clear up. Remember, our table in an awkward position, very apparent now. A few minutes later I expected a repeat when another staff member tried to navigate a fully loaded tray through a doorway narrower than the tray. It just beggars belief. Get proper trays!! We finished our dinner which was actually very nice, the only good thing in our visit, and left. It is hard to see why we would want to return to The Wheatsheaf Inn. It was chaotic."

"We came here to eat on Sunday the 3rd we were lucky to get a table as we just walked in off the street the food was great the service was great this is a lovely traditional pub. The only let down in my eyes was the small chubby lady behind the bar with glasses was very rude in greeting us in fact the only time I saw her smile was when she was scoffing crisps behind the bar other than that this is an excellent pub and the food was gorgeous and I will return as I don't really think it's fair to judge the place on one persons attitude"

"Really welcoming pub in this delightful village, midway between Charnwood Forest and North Leicester city. Friendly clientele and no tumbleweed moment as strangers like us walked through the door on a quiet Monday night. Excellent curry night when we visited recently with a choice of...three different recipes, inc a vegetarian, Thai Green Curry and Cambodian chicken for The owner could not have been more hospitable which coupled with his well kept range of real ales, continental lagers and ciders made for a mighty fine start to the week. Well done!"

"Booked a table to eat at on a visit to Loughborough The food was fantastic and at £12 you could not go wrong. Communication with the pub was great when we changed times due to 22.00 closing time Will visit next time when in the area. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great set up. Mr Broad/Gurney"
"Popped in on spec Easter Monday very friendly staff good range of beer and Cider upon asking the only food seemed burgers, which I can't eat. However they said Ham, egg and chips was an option. We opted for that. When it arrived it looked great with a very nice side salad. The staff were very attentive the food was really delicious and it looked so good. So nice to find such a gem"

"We reserved a table for 1pm on a Saturday at the BREWery cafe in the pretty village of Sileby for a light lunch. The BREWery is a cosy, family friendly cafe serving pots of tea and coffee, soup, sandwiches, paninis, deli boards etc. It caters for kids with a couple of simple choices. We enjoyed a lovely lunch. The Home deli board was tasty and was a delicious ploughmans. Cheeses, chutney, a pickle, quarter Scotch egg and lean ham were served with freshly baked, brown sourdough bread. We also enjoyed the freshly prepared, substantial toasted paninis. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with creamy mozzarella or ham and cheese. Paninis are served with little pots of crisps. The young staff were friendly and efficient.Good value and recommended for a light lunch or a cuppa."

"OMG, this is not authentic Indian cuisine, never have I seen a brighter yellow korma sauce or red masala sauce which looked like it had come from a jar, I’ve eaten out at lots of curry houses in the city and this was the worst yet. The sauce was so sweet and no texture at all, like it had been blended and the chicken just mixed into it at the last minute. Curry is not meant to be this colour, overloaded with food colouring and aesthetically very off putting. I was so disappointed as it was my parents 85th Birthday and they didn’t enjoy it. The venue was uninviting and it was freezing in there, the place was empty and now I know why. Will definitely not be going back there"

"Booked the water bridge for 10 people for a late breakfast, when we arrived the tables were all set menu in place for each person. Our party arrived in dribs and drabs but drink orders were taken as soon as you were seated. Once all the party were seated we ordered our breakfast. Some people had the large(huge) full English others panini and eggs royal. The breakfasts all came out together which was nice. The breakfasts didn't disappoint and there were no complaints and everyone saying how good the full English breakfasts were! Well worth the money but if you didn't want to tackle a huge breakfast there was the option of a smaller version.Very nice friendly staff, definitely worth another visit."

"We booked for 7pm and the menu was given at 7.15. We were told six items on the menu were not available. We got our starters at 8.00, which were all so salty. We then waited ages and watched as two tables that arrived after us, were served their mains. We didn 't get served our mains until 9:00. After waiting two hours for food, the chips were cold, and a lot of them were hard in the middle. Three of us ordered fajitas, the fajita that came was build your own, there was no salad and almost no meat (just onion and peppers) and it was more of a casserole. None of us ate many of the chips and the fajitas weren 't really touched. When they came to ask how the food was, we told them this and were advised they 'd take the drinks off the bill. We had already paid over £50 in drinks at the bar, there were only 2 drinks on the bill. When she brought the bill over, the drinks were still on it. We complained again and said that we weren 't happy to pay for the fajitas, we waited 2 hours and it was awful. She refused to take any of the fajitas off because the last time she did that she got 'bollucked ', so not sure if this is a regular occurance. They took the two drinks and the onion rings off the bill, removing £14 total and that was it. We asked for a refund on the drinks we had already paid for and she said she doesnt know how to do a refund. They offered a voucher it was laughable. Disgusted, we almost walked out of the pub waiting for the food, and was definitely not worth the wait. We will never be returning and will be advising other people not to go either. It 's a shame because we used to go to this pub quite often and it used to be nice. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"
"This was my first visit and it most certainly will not be my last. The menu was perfectly formed, with just enough options. The service was spot on and the waitress was very helpful and friendly. After ordering, the food arrived within about 20 minutes. I ordered a Steak and Stilton pie, with chips and mushy peas, as Mondays are pie night. The portion was generous and the food cooked to perfection, as everything was homemade. The steak was lovely and soft, with just enough Stilton as to not overpower it. After finishing my main course, I ordered bread and butter pudding, with cream and custard! Whilst the portion was just enough, the bread was not sufficiently cooked, and therefore was not crisp, the taste of it was good. The pricing of the meal was very reasonable for the excellent quality of the food. Two main pie dinners came to £14 and all the deserts were under £4 each. The decor of the pub is modern, mixed with an older style cottage- it works really well. I really recommend a visit. Thanks to the staff at the Pied Bull Inn for a most enjoyable evening."
"I can't recommend The Star Inn as a location and it's brilliant staff enough! We chose to stay here for our recent wedding. We booked the day before for myself and my bridal party and then the night of the wedding. We also booked a breakfast for the wedding party on the morning after the wedding. We met The Star Inn at the wedding fayre for Brooksby Hall and they offered the best price around but never pressured us to buy a certain amount of rooms like other hotels. From the minute we booked which was a year before the wedding they treat us like royalty. When we arrived to pay a couple month before the wedding the staff were so kind and helpful it really felt like we were staying with friends. When everything is so stressful organising a wedding you simply must pick to stay here because they will look after you so well. The bridal suite (Seagrave Suite was perfect for getting ready in the morning. Ample space for my makeup artist and hairdresser as well as my three bridesmaids. There was room for the dresses to hang too. While we got ready the adorable housekeeper came with fresh towels water and biscuits but her energy was perfect too as she was as excited as me for the wedding! The bed was so comfortable, clean and beautifully presented with fancy throw pillows. The bathroom has a mirror that lights up (perfect for getting ready! as well as a rain shower, normal shower, and bath tub which made the perfect night before pamper session. There was parking outside enough for everybody although some on the street slightly away from the hotel and pub. It was also great to have photos in the morning on the green outside. The food is delicious here with brilliant kitchen staff. The bartenders are also friendly helpful and chatty. If it isn't obvious already this is the best hotel and pub in the local area and the perfect wedding stay. I would give more stars if I could. Thank you so much everybody who looked after me and more importantly my wonderful family."

"Four of us visited for a sunday lunch. Was a very nice and quiet place. Friendly staff on arrival. Great selection of drinks too. Sunday lunch menu was limited but by no means a let down. This in fact made the food better as it was clearly all fresh. Soup starters were nice and clearly home made. Then the main event. I had the jolly roast which was amazing. Lots of meat and cooked to perfection! Everyone enjoyed their meals. My wife had a vegetarian option which she enjoyed and the pie was very nice by all accounts. Puddings were great too. The cheesecake is highly recommended! Overall a great meal in a lovely place we will be returning! Also they were very accommodating with children which is a big bonus!!!"
