"Food is pretty good from here...if you can ever get them to accept your order. Out of the last 20 occasions I've tried ordering from this place, my order has been accepted 3 or 4 times. They either decline your order without any explanation or suddenly go offline shortly after you put your order in (leaving you however much out of pocket while you wait for the money to be returned to your account). Must be nice to be only open 4 hours a day and still turn away business."

"The food was outstanding, and the cocktails were just as impressive. Our server who delivered our meals and drinks was friendly and charming, truly a great asset to the restaurant. However, the experience started on a sour note when the woman who initially seated us failed to provide the early bird menu or the 2-for-1 cocktail menu. She rudely pointed out that it was already 18:05 and that the deal was only available until 18:30. I'm not sure what her intention was, but it certainly left a bad impression at the beginning. Despite that, the food and drinks were excellent."

"After visiting another restaurant on Chorley New Road, we decided to check out this new addition to their collection. We found the quirky two-level layout of the restaurant to be much more appealing. We used to go there when it was called Shadus, an Indian restaurant. Retreat has clearly invested a lot in the decor and ambiance, creating a very comfortable interior. For anyone who may have difficulty with stairs, I recommend requesting a table on the ground floor, as dining is available on both levels."

"We had a delightful Sunday lunch at this restaurant. Despite there being no roast options for Christmas, we all enjoyed choosing from the set menu. The highlight was the slow roast belly pork, which received high praise. The waiting and kitchen staff were friendly and efficient, and the manager was organized and ensured that everything ran smoothly during this busy time. Overall, it was a very good experience and we will definitely be returning."

"We'd been to the Boars Head once before for a light lunch, which had been fine, but this time we brought the family for a proper Sunday lunch. The restaurant and bar were very busy, but we were given a friendly welcome and service throughout was unflustered, unobtrusive, prompt and excellent. Altogether, we had three different starters, six different adult main courses and five different desserts and every item on every plate was superb well cooked, well presented and delicious. This is definitely our new favourite restaurant and I can't wait to go back."

"Cruising the Leeds Liverpool canal yesaterday on a hire canal boat with 8 other family and friends for a long delayed special birthday celebration we decided to stop to look for refreshments and a meal in Adlington. Walking round the village we stumbled across this restaurant on the main street and asked if they had a table for 9, we weren't sure they would have room as there was a Country Fair on and the streets and pubs were very busy. We were welcomed in and given a large table by their very attentive staff who immediately proceeded to see we were settled in and gave us menus whilst taking our orders for drinks. After being given time to select our food from the very wide choices on the menu, our order was taken, each of us chosing one main course but all varied. The food was served some little time later again with their pleasant staff personally attending to see that all was in order and we were allowed to enjoy, yes really enjoy, our choice from the freshly prepared food, pasta, pizza, soup and chips which were all delicious, generous in portions and very reasonable in price. The surrounings are rustic, very clean and modern and there is plenty of room for all the patrons to eat undisturbed by comings and goings and a complete absence of music which in some places can spoil the atmosphere when too loud. Very impressed by this lovely, welcoming restaurant and cannot speak highly enough of the ambience, pleasant welcoming staff, quality of food and reasonable prices. We certainly will hope to visit again. Thanks to all at Bistecca Mediteranean."

"We have dined here before and really enjoyed our meal. However this time it really did disappoint us. The photo shows what was advertised as lamb burger, however the actual meat was more than poor and totally tasteless. To disguise the taste of the burger this was served with heaps of dressing. Such a let down to the kitchen. We did report this but little was offered except a complimentary drink. A lack of customer service also on behalf on the duty manager."

"The food was outstanding, as always, and the staff were delightful! It did feel a bit rushed, but I believe they close earlier during the week. We arrived at 7 PM, and by 8:30 PM, the place was quite empty. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this restaurant! The pizza-pasta deal on Wednesdays is fantastic as well. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner."

"I had the orderly salmon, and it was delightful. Everything was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The salmon was baked alongside new potatoes and drizzled with a sweet white wine sauce. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service. This place exceeded my expectations compared to the average pub. I will definitely return!"

The thoughtful little details—like the candle on the table, the balloons, the strawberries on the birthday cake, and the delicious cream to go with it—really made a difference. You all made my daughter's 21st birthday incredibly special, and I can't thank you enough. I can confidently say that The Dog Partridge is now our top choice for every occasion. The staff is friendly and cheerful, making everyone feel so welcome, and the dining experience is fantastic every time!"

"Fantastic food, amazing service and superb attention to detail. We won the Valentines competition, my hubby had already booked a table for the same evening as a surprise ha ha!! Lucky Us!! The restaurant is very busy but each customer is given the highest customer service with great attention to detail. Food is top quality and my fillet steak cooked to perfection (I’m very fussy with steak) the cheesecake amazing. My daughters made to feel extremely welcome on what normally would be a couples romantic evening. Thanks to Glen and all the staff for a wonderful evening."

"Visited for food and a drink which was nice probably worth what I paid, especially for this area but the awkward atmosphere left me feeling like I wouldn’t want to return here again and really brought down the experience. I felt on edge the whole time I was in there because of the manager. (short white haired lady). We could hear her in the kitchen speaking quite nastily to the young waitresses. She’s got one of those shrill voices that travels. There is a time and a place to reprimand staff and in front of or even within earshot of your customers is just not it. This wasn’t the first time I’ve been in here and heard her addressing her staff over things they have done wrong in front of customers or telling other customers how useless her staff are. The staff present during my last visit were basically just kids and one in particular had tears in her eyes the whole time we were in there. This doesn’t make it a pleasant atmosphere for your diners. This could be a lovely place but it needs a really calm atmosphere given the beautiful surroundings. Such a shame it doesn’t feel like this inside at all. It made me feel quite on edge and I couldn’t get out quick enough."

"Arrived for Sunday lunch following the positive comments I’ve seen on social media. Arrived at 1230, the place was empty and we waited about 5 minutes before we were seen. When we were seated, there was no music playing. All we could hear was the...foul language coming from the kitchen. At this point my partner wanted to leave, but I felt we couldn’t just up and go, so decided to stay. The roast potatoes were hard on the inside and undercooked. The beef wellington was blue and barely seared, leaving half as I couldn’t eat it (at £17 The sticky beef was luke warm, and very little of it. However, the burger was nice. The manager did speak to my partner after noticing she left most of the roast. When I tried to give my feedback, they walked off. I’ve never been one for criticising and moaning within a restaurant, especially after the last 2 years. They did refund my partners meal, which we wasn’t expecting and intended to pay. Sadly we won’t be returning."

"Outstanding food, amazing staff and absolute hidden gem. Having driven past this many times I’d often wondered what it was like and gotten on with my day to day life. Last night we had a lovely evening with friends and what a treat it was! Great set up, come in the very attentive staff led us to a relaxing area and offered us menus and a choice of drinks and savoury nibbles. We opted for the excellent value 3 courses absolutely the best meal I’ve had out in a long time, I opted for the ever classic Chicken Liver Parfait and Slow cooked feather Blade of beef…..I’d go back there every day and eat the same meal for the rest of my days. Thank you to the staff and chef for knowing how to do it right."

"I highly recommend visiting this restaurant! The staff is friendly, and the food is excellent with generous portions at very reasonable prices. If you're looking for home-cooked meals rather than pre-packaged options, this is the place to be! I had the meat lasagna, which was delightful, accompanied by garlic bread and a salad. My friend ordered the "drunken pot," and you could really tell that the meat was slow-cooked to perfection—so tender! It was served with mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and a sweet side. We had a fantastic time! This place is a must-visit for everyone!"

"I visited the restaurant during the week, and it was quite quiet, so seating was not an issue indoors, although the space is very small with limited tables. There are just a few outdoor seats available as well. The prices are generally comparable to other places. However, weekends tend to be extremely busy, which creates significant traffic problems and affects local residents. Please be cautious when parking, especially with children nearby! I'm surprised that there hasn’t been a serious accident yet. Overall, I opted for dine-in service."

"The restaurant is conveniently situated, making it easy to get to, with plenty of parking available. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious and truly captures the essence of authentic Indian cuisine. The prices are reasonable and offer good value for money. I will certainly be returning to this restaurant. For vegetarian options, there is a wide selection of paneer and vegetable dishes that are all quite tasty. We ordered the Balti and Karahi versions of paneer, and they were both excellent!"
