"Myself and my partner decided to give this restaurant a try on our way back from a day out as it’s really close to where we live. It was Sunday lunch and when we entered it was pretty quiet but looked nice enough. I must...admit we couldn’t help but notice a strange ambience almost as though we had walked into a private party. Anyway we quickly got drinks and received the Sunday menu without prices. My partner had the soup to start which was delicious, I had terrine which was ok at best and a bit measly. For main I ordered the chicken with a Yorkshire pudding and my partner had tomato linguine. From receiving this I just couldn’t wait to get home and make a decent meal. I literally could not distinguish a single item the meal was so incredibly bland it was unbelievable. The gravy basically consisted of warm water and fat. I cannot believe a golf club would serve frozen school dinner Vegetables! I am absolutely gob smacked. This place looks amazing and I would imagine the hotel is beautiful however I will not be risking it. The worst Sunday dinner I have ever had! To top it off the waitress took my barely touched plate (I ate the Yorkshire which was fine, one roast potato one slice of chicken) and never even enquired why I hadn’t touched it. £50 lighter to come home and start heating up a m&s dine in for 2! As for the pasta well if you consider pasta with a tin of chopped tomatoes and cheese on top a quality meal your in for a treat here! I visit lots of bad restaurants but feel leaving harsh reviews is sometimes unfair for the business owners, however I’m sorry to say this was a truly terrible meal. If your looking for Sunday lunch keep looking."

"Arrived on Mothers Day for lunch, the place was fairly quiet. We sat down and ordered a mains each. The rest of our party arrived 15 minutes later and ordered 4 starters as they were eating light. After waiting for 45 minutes we questioned the staff as to when our meals would be coming. Ten minutes later the 4 starters arrived for the table despite being ordered 15 minutes later than our meal. We questioned again and we’re offered some free drinks which we didn’t need, so refused. We were told that they were plating ours. Ours finally arrived 20 minutes later, 70 minutes after ordering. They were placed down and the manager I believe, simply walked off. I thought she might clear the other 4 empty plates, considering they’d all left to go to the football but no we were expected to eat our meal staring at those. Interestingly no one came back to check on the quality of the food for any of the meals. If they had we would of let them know the gravy for the roast dinner was stone cold, the mash potato was like a firm dough ball the vegetables bland and the cauliflower cheese was the worst I’d ever seen. It resembled a puddle of sick on the side of the plate, I paid extra for the privilege. An orange mess of melted cheddar cheese with a couple of pieces of cauliflower. All in all a disgraceful experience. Our first and last visit to this dire eatery. Train your staff on how to provide a decent standard of service, better communication with the kitchen and ask your customer what they would like you to do in the event of the above. Nothing short of a refund would of been acceptable. As we were now late to leave for an event I didn’t have the time to force the issue having already paid."
