"I am very happy to eat here for silvester with husband and daughter and was certainly not disappointed. I would even say that this was the best meal I had in 2017! we went for tapas and had a selection of different dresses that were cooked to perfection, lebonese kebab and bark in red wine were to die and then the Potata band and croquette kartoffels tasted divine and finally the paella was the best I ever tasted. can't wait to go back. Thank you."

"I stumbled upon this pub by chance and decided to check it out from the outside. The following week, we returned, but the bartender informed us they didn't start serving food until 6 PM. So, we took some time to look over the menu. I’m not a fan of seafood, but I ended up enjoying the beer-battered cauliflower. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant opened right on time!"

"The food at this restaurant is served piping hot and with meticulous care, not rushed like fast food. The staff are delightful and the bread is incredibly fresh, practically bouncing in your mouth with every bite. Each mouthful feels like a well-deserved reward after a hard day's work. The person who makes the chocolate brownies deserves special mention, as they leave a smooth and satisfying taste in your mouth that lingers long after you've left. I highly recommend this place - just looking at the menu has me eager to return on my next visit to Darlington. The food here has truly won me over, and I want to thank the staff for their exceptional service. I will definitely be back."

"Friends took us here on Saturday night for the first time, they had been several times before. First time for us. We were a bit early, about 6.15pm. Not a problem, got taken upstairs to our table. Quite well laid out, very spacious. The waitress we got was fantastic, I can’t recall her name, young blonde lady with glasses, she just couldn’t of been any better, she is a credit to that restaurant. Such a polite, professional, funny, charismatic young lady. Really good menu, I had squid for starters, I was expecting a few rings as usual in most places, but you got a set of tentacles which I prefer over rings, and good thick rings with a lemon mayo. Absolutely delicious. I chose the ‘cor blimey’ pizza which was spicy melting Italian sausage and chilli. Hands down the best pizza I have had in this country, and I am quite picky when it comes to pizza. I did get to sample friends pizza, goats cheese and red onion, which was delicious, I can’t remember what the other two were. The mix of that quality of food with the excellent service was so refreshing. Really good atmosphere due to the staff. I’m sure all the other staff were equally good, I can only comment on the one we had. She also shared the story of the owners journey which was very interesting. Great experience all round really. It was also very refreshing as a person with full neck tattoos not to be stared at or treat differently by staff, as is often the case with visiting restaurants. I would like to thank the owner and the waitress for a great night . It is often very easy to leave very harsh and critical reviews, sometimes unfairly. I think it is as equally important to give praise in as much detail. I will definitely be a regular from now on here, and would highly recommend it to anyone. I couldn’t fault anything about the whole experience. Oh, nearly forgot to mention the chips. Try the stable hearth secret ingredient home made chips !!!!!!"

"I have learned from experience that dining alone in a restaurant is usually not ideal. However, on a warm evening with many people sitting outside at the neighboring bars, the restaurant was completely empty when I arrived. Despite this, I had something to read and am accustomed to dining alone. I ordered one of the special dishes and aside from being reasonably priced, I found it lacking in flavor. The dish had a lot of food but did not have much taste, only a hint of spice that was reminiscent of packaged curry powder from the 1970s. The ambiance was challenging, especially with the unhelpful sound system playing Indian-style music that abruptly changed tunes every few minutes. Additionally, a man came in and engaged in a loud conversation with one of the staff, which was distracting. Although this may not have been the restaurant's fault, it added to the unpleasant atmosphere. If it were not for the affordable prices, I would only give this restaurant one star. Despite frequenting Darlington often, I do not plan on returning to this establishment."

"eating excellent, delivery excellent, but overloading is not good, that was better than on ordering just eating, my order was £13.20 plus delivery, I was charged £16.80 by driver so this is £3.60 for delivery, or I was overcharged to the food, delivery fees are inconsistent, a week before £1, previous delivery was charged £2. the shipping costs must be consistent so that they know what they pay. order date Friday 23rd october time. 17 13th phone order meal add a £8.00 245 £3.70 chicken balls overall. £13.20 charged inc delivery. 16,80 €"

"Great food, friendly service and excellent value. After visiting the theatre on a Friday night we found that this was the only restaurant still open in the area (it was only 10pm). The staff were very friendly, the food arrived relatively quickly, and was delicious. All the staff seemed very friendly and keen to make us feel welcome. Would definitely recommend."

"be a few times now, they love the deluxe hot chocolate, although it is a bit expensive. the cheeks are also very beautiful. I ordered the breakfast last time that we were there and doubled (eye bigger than bauch) it was hard to eat there. it was all stacked on a normal dish. we sat on a small table and there was hardly any space to put the drinks and teller. the crates in which they bring the best are a bit of a waste of time to be honest. you could say, unless someone has to put the serviettes in and the ones in, so it would be easy to bring the cutlery and serviette in? my only little critique, if ever that every time we were in the teamworkers, seem to huddle up and chat with each other quite a lot and the service is very slow. Last time I ordered my hot chocolate, I asked her without marshmallows, she came with them and I told the young man I had ordered without her. he never offered a new one, just said, huh? I never had a damper, but it found a bit rude not even to offer to roast it. next time I order one when it comes to them, it will be back!"

"I recently visited this restaurant on the recommendation of my brother and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The service was excellent, the ambiance was great, and the food was cooked to perfection. It was definitely great value for money and it's no surprise why this place is so popular. I highly recommend trying the Wandering Duck Full English breakfast. Overall, I would give this place a 5-star rating for food, service, and atmosphere. The price per person typically range from £10 to £20 for a meal."

"We had a last-minute family lunch and it turned out to be a great choice! The service was fantastic, with nothing being too much trouble - they even provided a highchair for the baby. The food was delicious, with most of us opting for the beef which was very tasty. The nut roast and naked burger were also enjoyed, although the burger initially arrived without all the trimmings but was quickly fixed. The desserts were great, with the creme brulee being a highlight despite appearing small - it was surprisingly filling. When the baby became a little restless, we took them to reception to calm down and the staff were very friendly, reassuring us that the baby was just as much a guest as anyone else. We appreciated the welcoming staff and the delicious food. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning. On a side note, we hadn't visited the Croft Spa in a few years and loved the makeover - well done!"

"Possibly the worst meal I’ve eaten in the last 10 years. Terrible quality and badly cooked food. My partner had the beef Bourgogne, you couldn’t really call it that though, more of a tasteless beef stew. Completely under seasoned, had never seen a drop a red with a nice mixture of frozen peas, a sad looking bowl of frozen veg and a blob of stale lumpy mash potato. I myself had had the the king prawn pasta. Again, no seasoning at all. Completely tasteless. How you can make so many ingredients taste of nothing is beyond me. The only thing there was the slightest hint of basil. The pasta, just cheap dried penne a little over cooked. All in all the cooking lacked any passion or pride, the presentation was poor, the food was poor and just left you thoroughly disappointed. I’ve honestly had better microwave meals. The place is currently looking for a new chef, this is desperately needed. I think I would even suggest changing the menu for the time being to something that is is within whoever is cooking at the minutes skill set. Drinks are also extortionate, my partner and I don’t drink so had a fresh orange and lemonade, this was £15 for low quality mixers. The place in general is a little shabby and could do with an update, the staff could do with a little training even though the lady that served was pleasant enough. All in all, I certainly won’t be visiting again. We had been looking forward to going here after looking at the menu when we called in for a coffee one afternoon. Do you self a favour and take a pass when you think of visiting here, there are much better place to spend your money in Darlington."

"Excellent. Haven't got a single complaint! Food was great, service even better. Great value for money. I even broke my record and gave a 20% tip must have been the good wine! Toilets spotless. Everyone looked happy with their food and all quick to be delivered. I only gave a 4 for atmosphere. Doesn't bother me at all but some might be offput by crying babies but this was a weekday lunchtime."

"Impeccable food here. Went for Sunday lunch and had the belly pork, with some pigs in blankets on the side. The portions were fantastic and the price was very affordable. The belly pork was beautifully done and full of flavour. The staff were very friendly and accommodating (we were being a tad difficult) and it was a wonderful atmosphere. We sat outside due to it being a very nice day and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I would highly recommend as it was the best Sunday lunch I have had in years."

"Really pleasant place friendly and clean ,the only negative was that the table we were at was next to a store cupboard and we had to constantly move , My suggestion is to either remove the table or move it slightly Grea idea of the 50p refills"

"the staff is very friendly, responsive and helpful. they served me with a big smile in these faces, which makes a great difference. I have eaten an influxxl and was delicious, they have a hand made coleslaw and the brot, sausage, speck and wobbles make a great combination. I'll be back in a moment."
"Apologies for the late review. We recently saw an advert for this place for New Years Eve, live band and buffet, and it looked interesting. So decided to go check it out and have a drink see if we liked it. Within minutes of having a drink we had booked for new years eve, and already decided to come back for some food one day, as we saw the food coming out from the kitchen and it looked amazing. Anyway on the 2nd visit we literally couldn't chose from the menu as everything sounded really nice, so we decided to get a load of starters and just experience what we could. Wow, this place can cook food. The chef deserves a special mention here as evey single dish was cooked to perfection. Ended up full to the rafters , so decided on the creme brulee and a couple of baileys hot chocolates to settle the stomachs . I cannot recommend this place enough, and we will be going back on our Fridays off for sure. Thanks you for the excellent food, exemplary service and welcoming atmosphere. See you before New Year's Eve"

"Went into Sainsbury’s cafe and simply asked for a ham and cheese toastie, I had not been disruptive or rude in anyway, however I was greeted with a very rude, blunt and abrupt attitude from the member of staff serving me. She had a tone in her voice and had quite a lot of attitude even though she barely said anything. The reason she barely said anything is because she was very short and blunt with me, giving me one word answers or not an answer at all. When I went to pay she shoved the card machine across the counter and threw the table number card down onto the counter with attitude. She did not say a single word after this she simply walked away and did not advise me to pick any table I wanted or too take a seat. The service was then very slow as it took 10 minutes simply to toast a pre-made ham and cheese toastie. Then when I did receive the food she proceeded to strut over to my table and throw the plate down onto the opposite side of the table from me, meaning I had to get up and reach over to get my food, even though this takes very little effort it is still bad customer service (especially at £3.85 for a simple ham and cheese toastie that was served luke warm). She also did not inform me as to where any condiments were for my meal. Once she had abruptly ‘placed’ my food on the table she strutted off before I even had the opportunity to say thank you, despite this I still said thank you but her back was turned and she was walking away, and as you can probably guess I got no response. It was a very bad experience and aswell as the poor customer service the toastie wasn’t even that nice."

"Yet again have had a very enjoyable family birthday lunch here; the staff are attentive and the food is very good. Our party included a couple of vegetarians, one person with specific food requirements, a fussy eater (me! and a number of 'normal ' eaters there is always enough choice for all. I recommend the duck in particular and the salmon salad; apparently the pie of the day was also delicious. Oh, the mango lime and the sour cherry sorbets were a perfect refreshing finish. There was a small disappointment for one of our group where raw onion was not listed but included in every component of the paneer kebab starter, thus they were unable to eat it."
