"I used to highly recommend Bowan in the past for their tasty, hot, and fresh food. However, my recent experience has deterred me from returning. The chicken satay skewers were strange and the pancake rolls were terrible - the pancake was undercooked on the inside but very crispy on the outside. The noodles, rice, and prawn crackers were good, but the crispy chili chicken was just okay. It used to be much better. Overall, there is room for significant improvement at Bowan."

"I went to this restaurant with my partner's family on Sunday, September 3rd. I ordered the Prawn and Salmon salad but asked for avocado instead of asparagus. Unfortunately, the kitchen brought out the wrong dish initially, the avocado and mango salad. After seeing the salad, which was just a plate of chopped leaves, I should have probably cancelled my order. When the correct salad finally arrived, there was very little salmon and no prawns to be found. The small amount of salmon that was included was stringy and of poor quality. The 'prawns' were more like shrimp, with only about 8 in total, which were not even close to a normal sized prawn. The salad also had some pieces that were browning and rotting. The staff did not seem concerned about the quality of the meal I received. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I reluctantly accepted it, but I left the restaurant feeling hungry and disappointed after spending £14 on a subpar meal. I urge you to avoid this place and dine elsewhere. I regret not taking photos to illustrate my experience."

"excellent in a family or corporate or event restaurant. this place is not Chi Chi Chi or sniffy. Just really good. they are greeted with warmth at the door. at the table they are presented with hearty, warm flat brot with a yogurt-based dip. yum. our Calamari starter was perfectly cooked with a small green salad on the plate and a delicate rémoulade sauce, not hot, not garlicky and not red. as my wife and I are fischaholics our main was their charcoal grilled whole sea bass. this was presented perfectly with colored rice and an salat on the plate. the bass was skillfully prepared with delicate crumbling and olive oil, which did not fight with the mild taste of the fish. the skin of the fish was perfectly cristed. with all this we had a bottle of her non-vintage Turkish white wine kavaklidere cankaya. the cankaya is moderately fed with medium acid; perfectly dry without edges in mouth. mund textur is like a fully mature white bordeaux. the nose and the palate is dominated by honigtaumel with a hauch of fresh coward. the finish is medium. Yeah, all this about a white wine I've never heard of. that was dessert baclava, of course. that was perfectly presented with three large pieces on our plates. we had the baclava with its authentic Turkish tee... sugar, yes; milk, no. twisted with Turkish coffee. all for 80 pfund for two. as besides: I lived in the turkey in the 1970s and I own a fine restaurant in America, but now in the opposite. I have eaten in stars restaurants in France and italy. I think I know when a restaurant shoots on all cylinders and this is here. book them early as there are limited tables in this little gem of a restaurant. kudos an ray of the owner. he is a young and enthusiastic businessman and wants them to be satisfied. go to the mosaic grill and look forward to it."

"Today 19 of us had a set menu lunch at the White Horse, prior to the event I had excellent communication with staff . On the day our tables were all set and the bar service, table service was superb thanks to Matt and Tom. Our food came out on time and all together with no delays and was fresh and delicious. Our desert was very pretty and the brownies were great. Some of us were made to feel so welcome we stayed longer and avoided the rain. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel so welcome. THANK YOU"

"I recently visited this restaurant for the first time during a cycling trip with a friend. It is a popular spot for cycling groups, so I was excited to experience it for myself on a cold and foggy November day. The atmosphere was pleasant, but it can get quite busy, making it challenging to find a table and affecting the service. I had a large pot of tea and a cake (with plenty of choices), while my friend enjoyed a coffee and a bacon and egg roll. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the ongoing price increases due to inflation and heating costs. I plan to come back with my wife to try out more of the menu options."

"Excellent place to eat and relax, the team were so welcoming and professional. We stopped on our way through the village and we couldn’t be happier. The food was delicious, we had a lovely table by the window, we enjoyed the views of the canal and the fields. The pub is clean and well kept, also the beers were faultless, I had a few pints of directors and also tried a pedigree and they were lovely. My partner had a wine that was recommended to us and she said it was one of the best wines by the glass she’s ever had in a pub. Fish and chips cooked perfectly also my lamb shank on the specials was to die for"

"The chef personally delivered my meal, which was such a thoughtful gesture, especially late at night. I was so touched by how comfortable and friendly the locals were, and the staff's service made me feel relaxed and at ease, as if I were a regular there. I will definitely be back! Oh, and they had two resident dogs that added to the charm—they were fun and friendly, and if you like animals, you’ll love their playful presence. The whole experience provided great value for money, too!"

"Walk-ins... my wife and I already trust the foundry for their menu, service, staff and facilities. we were unsafe what we wanted to do with this opportunity, until before the house freshly baked scones from the many suggested......no brains! we were not disappointed after we had our...`cream tea` by our attentive Lady staff member our latte coffee together and generously dimensioned, beautiful aroma scenes (one in each case) and bumper shares of camouflaged cream with strawberry jam arrived at our table without delay. the revised and more comfortable seating opportunity, relaxed unobstructed environment pleasant personal improves the eating experience. the only things that were still thirsty were the plants of caffe. but they got a drink after I had asked if it was ok to water them to round off our latest pleasant visit in the foundry."

"Staff were really lovely, the beer garden is beautiful and from what I saw of inside it was nice. Asked about vegan options, there was vegan pasta, pizza or a bean burger. Ordered two bean burgers, only one came out and it was a bacon cheese beef burger. The ‘vegan’ burger was topped with cheese, in what seemed to be a brioche bun, and came with battered onion rings. Also the chips tasted so strongly of fish. I’m not a fussy vegan, but I have an intolerance to dairy which is why I first became vegan and why I order it when I’m out. Had a nice evening with my family and the food has the potential to be so good. I know a lot of chefs don’t like cooking vegetarian food but it could be so easy for them to do a good veggie/vegan option."

"We ate a 3 course dinner here with a red letter day voucher which also came with a bottle of wine (choice of red, white or rose). The food was lovely as was the wine, there were 4 different choices for each course and it was a great selection. We really enjoyed the dinner in a relaxed atmosphere."

"We had an excellent dinner at this restaurant! Our group of four enjoyed the vegetable biryani with a fantastic curry, the melty eggplant, flavorful mutton curry, and tasty lamb in spinach. We also ordered tandoori roti and chapati to accompany the curries, each dish had its own unique spice flavors and the heat level was just right. It was honestly some of the best Indian food I have ever had. For dessert, I would highly recommend the light and airy chocolate pudding. The portion size was generous enough to split between three of us. The mango wine had the perfect balance of acidity and sweetness to complement the food. We plan to return to try more dishes on the menu and this time we will remember to take photos of the delicious food. Thanks to the chefs and hosts for a wonderful evening."

"There needs to be a level of understanding here, as I leave my review for others to read. Pubs have just opened after lock down. There are odd processes to deal with which adds to the challenge. I respect any company that is clearly doing their best. That being said there is still a fair assessment to be made of the meal my wife and I have had at the Coach and Horses in Brixworth. First observation- it appears that a lot of the meal we ate, including dessert was heavily reliant on a microwave!I had the duck with egg fried rice. Very tasty, the sauce wasn’t too strong and went well with the duck. The rice was freshly prepared and was nice. Wife’s chicken pie was microwave fresh but tasty. The chips were perfect as you would expect from a good pub. For dessert I had the lemon meringue pie. Pretty awful. The lemon element was claggy and tasted pretty horrible. Struck me as a packet bought pie and tasted like one too. Shame. Wife had spotted dick with custard. Again, fresh from the microwave and was heated to within an inch of its life. Was ok. Service was great. Wasn’t busy but the staff were still very attentive and friendly. I’ve eaten here before, and the food has been previously very good. I put this experience down to ramp up problems and I’ll be straight- I don’t care. They are open and serving people and I won’t hold any of my criticisms against them. I’m certain things will get back in track in time and I take my hat off to them for keeping things going. At the end of the meal the staff asked if everything was ok and I said it was. I stand by this and this review is just a fair review, it’s not a complaint and we will be back."

"We had visited a couple of times before around six months ago, a lovely pub with great welcoming atmosphere and lovely smiling staff who couldn’t do enough for you ………. a complete contrast to our latest visit From the moment we arrived the manager barman was Rude and obnoxious it was like our visit was a complete inconvenience to him. As we were already there we put the unfriendly greeting aside and decided to look at the menus and myself and my partner were seated in the dining area…….and then forgotten about, after nearly 20 minutes my partner decided to order the drinks and our choice of two chicken roast dinners at the bar on the way to the toilet, on his return he told me that to get to the toilets you have to pass the kitchen and he could hear the chef shouting and swearing at the waitresses (no wonder they were miserable) we would have left at this point but as the drinks had finally arrived and our meal order was taken we decided we would have to stay. After another 15-20 minutes a waitress came to our table to inform us that the chicken had sold out hours ago and we would have to make another selection no apology at the lack of chicken but this could be forgiven by the way they were mistreated by the chef. So we both chose the beef. It was a long wait for our meals and when they did arrive both were only warm very chewy and not enough gravy by this time we had enough of the horrible experience so we finished what we had and asked for the bill after paying and getting half way home we realised we were overcharged. This used to be a lovely place to come visit on a Sunday drive but now it’s not worth the petrol."

"I recently treated myself to a delightful lunch at this restaurant. The prices were very reasonable, with most dishes falling in the £1-10 range, making it an excellent choice for a budget-friendly meal. The food was absolutely delicious, earning a perfect score of 5. The service was top-notch as well, with attentive staff and quick service also receiving a score of 5. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant and inviting, with a cozy ambiance that enhanced the dining experience, also scoring a 5. As for parking, there was plenty of space available, with options for both free parking in a lot and free street parking nearby. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a tasty and affordable meal."

"Have stopped here for a drink on a few occasions but decided to have lunch on this visit. My partner had half chicken with salad. The salad filled half the large plate and there was coleslaw too. I opted for the southern fried chicken, which was two sizeable coated chicken breasts, and I chose beans and fries to go with the chicken. The portion size was very big. Both meals tasted great and we polished off the lot. Washed down with two unlimited teas, the total price was less than £15. Great value and we're already planning when we can go back for another meal. Oh, and the staff were really great too!"

"Done a search on Google Maps for a good takeaway. i was in the area as I'm a long-distance truck driver and fancied a indian takeaway. I can honestly say Abduls was a great choice, very friendly service, and the restaurant looked nice and clean to have a sit down in. The food was absolutely beautiful, look and taste was also fantastic. I eat indian food all over the country and this experience as to be in my top 5 without fail i will be back hopefully soon . Thank you to the young man who served me a great job. Please give this place a try. You won't be disappointed."

"Opened just last week (mid May, 2023), this fully vegan café is a perfect breakfast place. They are just figuring out the menu and will add more items soon. At the moment, the breakfast is pancakes with maple syrup (gluten free, but made in a kitchen where they handle gluten); overnight oats or protein smoothie. Lunch items are available from around 11:30; check out their facebook page for daily specials (they are looking fantastic). This week I saw chilli-ginger and garlic tempeh; sweet pointed peppers stuffed with basmati rice, minced portobello mushrooms, asparagus, wild garlic, topped with organic tofu and a hint of paprika and pearl barley risotto with seasonal asparagus, broccoli, spinach, courgette and fresh rocket. The store has a wide selection of vegan and organic food items, cleaning products and toiletries and some chilled products I’ve never seen anywhere else before (like black turtle bean tempeh)."

"Apprehensive over going out to treat sister in law for her birthday, Woodmeadow appealed to us. The isolation of our own space to spend celebrating over Afternoon Tea was ideal. Communication was excellent beforehand and reassuring. On arrival we were shown to a tastefully decorated summerhouse type building. Afternoon tea was simple in comparison to more pretentious places, but for that was also excellent value and well presented. Ample sandwiches, lovely cakes and delicious scones, and a bowl of very nice strawberries to mop up the excess of the fresh cream. Refills of tea and coffee were offered timely without prompt. This was our first venture out into normal life since lockdown and it was a superb tonic for the soul. No anxiety whatsoever! I highly recommend the Afternoon tea experience in your own space, we are planning a return visit as soon as possible. They even had “special staff “ come to clean up the crumbs!"

"Visited here for a midweek dinner and had the weekday special menu. This is a set price for as much food as you like, which is freshly cooked and delivered to your table. Servers were efficient and friendly, one lady slightly abrupt but she had a good character about her and did not come across as rude. All food was delicious and great portions, they really did not mind how much you ordered as long as no wastage! All really tasty and hot! Recommend king prawns in honey and lemon! Nice relaxed atmosphere, lots of road noise but this was soon absorbed when the restaurant was full. Would recommend to visit! Great for couples and families, even young children were well catered for!"
