"Just back from a Sunday lunch with friends and all 8 can say is what an improvement since last time we were there. The new owners have improved it enormously. We had the roast pork, roast beef and 'Nelson ' roast which is a bit of both. Portions were generous to put it mildly! Suffice to say I 'm not bothering with an evening meal. Food was well presented and delicious. The decor has also been redone and feels very homely and comfortable with nice touches in the decorations dotted about the place. For those who want a challenge they do an 80 oz (yes eighty ounce! steak which if you can finish the whole meal you get for free. Staff are friendly, efficient and courteous. Location is right next to the canal and in summer it 's an incredibly pleasant place to sit and watch narrow boats going up and down the canal through the lock. All in all top marks! Just been back tonight and we both had the 12oz rump steak. Have to say it was the equal of any steak I 've had anywhere. Superb."

"Been here several times but more recently last week for lunch when moored on the GU. The one way system is clearly laid out and works well. Staff were friendly and helpful- compliments in particular to the young lady who was cooking and waitressing for the first time since lockdown. My partner enjoyed a couple of pints of Wainwright’s and there were several other real ales available. The food is always delicious and freshly cooked. We agree they are the best chips around and the New Inn is always known to us The Chips pub. Lovely to sit and watch boats up and down in the lock. Will definitely be back when we are in the area."

"I enjoy high quality food and good value for money, and I was not disappointed at this restaurant. I ordered the Sunday roast sharing platter for myself and my partner and we were served a generous portion of delicious chicken breast, perfectly cooked roast beef, and large pork belly strips, accompanied by buttered carrots, cabbage, parsnips, roast potatoes, and homemade Yorkshire puddings. The meal also came with gravy and sauces, all served with a friendly smile. It was so good that I returned two weeks later with more family. The White Horse did an excellent job. The price per person is between £20-£30 and I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all as a 5 out of 5. I highly recommend the Sunday Lunch at this restaurant."

"we found this place randomly, we have to eat somewhere so glad that we, carvery only on a Sunday 12-4, £10 everyone. we had a nice cooked, not stingy on portions either, actually asked us how much we wanted, if we were enough, veg were all good, many choices, snatch, carrots, boobs, kartoffelmaisch, frying, stuffing pigs in cover yorkshires, decent thick gravur, (can not wear watery rubbish,) mint three of us it does not look like a traditional pub, it has a working men club vibe to him, but very clean, was nice cool and also, beautiful atmosphere, thirs, peace they eat in or take Asian cuisine as well, we will definitely be back without doubt. would like to make it at least a monthly visit. forget about, pictures of dessert, cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake."
