"I went to the Bold Forester with friends for a celebratory meal last night. I would say in the whole the food and service were good but my issue was that the fajitas came with small portions of the bottled guacamole, sour cream and salsa which are very tasteless. For the price we were charged (I think it was approx £17) they should serve fresh sauces with the food. The ocean platter starter was very good. We were also overcharged for a drink, which took some explaining as to how we did not receive it before it was removed from the bill. It was also a shame that the pub emptied out so early (maybe because it was mainly elderly diners) and we were the only table left after 9pm. I don't think I'd choose to go there again."

"Usually a nice pub at a great location but when we visited Sunday 20/3/22 we weren't told about all the dishes which had already sold out. Even the specials blackboard still advertised meals which were not available! It's a little disappointing when you spend 15 mins choosing something on the menu and then told it's not available. Even the fries we ordered were replaced with chunky chips. We did complain and got a decent refund but I'm not inclined to go back. The picture below shows the fish chips. It's £14.45....."

"meet with friends who live in front of places and this is one of their favorite choices that they treat us here for a meal. very friendly service despite a lot of pleasure and funeral on request of my wife less flavor in their desired choice could be the sharp of behind the face mask here. beautiful eating beautiful location conveniently located, we felt with extensive decisions both eating and drinks wise, the only negatiw was the seeming desire to leave us asap while we still eat that came as surprise, I could not imagine a crazy rush that was around 9 o'clock on a Monday night"

"Was surprised offer of a early evening meal here from the boyfriend who had come for lunch a few weeks ago.The car park is big enough so no worrying where to park we were lucky as we hadn't booked a table here we got seated and food order you have to do at the bar and pay beforehand which is a good idea as soon as you eaten no waiting around you can just go.The food was really delicious and decent size plates we has the lasagne and chicken pie which was plentiful didn't have room for pudding!The one downside was allowing dogs in which we had a dog near us and it kept barking of which we also heard another table commenting on this that was the only thing we found wrong but it won't stop us going back as food was nice"

"This restaurant review has a mixed opinion, with high praise for the food but disappointment with the service. We arrived a little early for our reservation and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. However, after ordering drinks, we waited for an hour for our food without any explanation for the delay. When we inquired, our meal came out shortly after. My meal was excellent and deserving of a 10 rating, but my husband found his portion size to be lacking and rated his meal a 7. Despite the delicious food, waiting an hour for our meals was unacceptable, especially since the restaurant was not very busy. The staff were apologetic and polite, but the slow service makes me question whether I would return. Additionally, when we asked for the bill, we had to go to the bar to pay as all the staff were congregated behind it, which was frustrating."

"nice refit from the old deans diner. feels relaxed. the personal was welcoming. burger and chips with 2 sides were beautiful, beautiful burger and well cooked. £13 for nice eating was in my book ok. free parking. toilets are clean, but I was child-free, so the baby facilities are not checked."

"We were extremely disappointed with our Prawn Linguine at this restaurant. It seemed as though it had been reheated rather than cooked fresh, as the pasta was hard and clumped together. We struggled to even cut through it with a knife. One of the meals was replaced, but in hindsight, both should have been cooked fresh. The difference in quality was significant. I would have expected the dish to be served properly the first time around. However, the staff did the right thing by not charging us."

"I made a reservation for 6:30 this evening. We arrived 15 minutes early but were told that our table was still being prepared. We were instructed to order a drink at the bar and wait to be called. However, after 30 minutes and still no word about our table, we decided to leave. Instead, we ended up enjoying a delicious pizza at Flour and Fire at Botley Mills. We won't be returning to Beefeater again. Additionally, the man at the front of the house seemed a bit disorganized, which may have been the reason for the poor service."

"I was tasked with organizing a meal for a large group of colleagues. We all wanted to sit together and catch up since we hadn't seen each other in a while. The staff at the Queens Head were very accommodating and set up a big table for us in a separate function room. We had pre-ordered our meals, and when we arrived they were ready for us and delicious. The portion sizes were generous, and the quality of the food was excellent. Despite being a large group, we were served quickly by only two staff members who were also managing the pub. A big thank you to the staff and chef for their hard work and great service. We will definitely be returning in the future."

"We were a group of five celebrating a birthday. First of all I will mention the parking; there's not much parking and you're restricted to two hours. The food was hit and miss: pizzas we're very poor, with hardly any toppings. Mussels were overcooked and shrivelled. Bubble Squeak and Fish Chips were good. Service was really poor!! We had to go and find a waitress every time we wanted to order drinks, and we were left sitting for ages before our food orders were taken. They spent most of their time standing behind the pillars chatting. The final insult was the 12.5% service charge they had decided to award themselves! Not only was the self-awarded tip extremely impertinent, but the service was so poor it didn't warrant any tip!"

"Outstanding service and extremely well organised pub set next to the Solent hotel and Lodge, this family, dog friendly pub is easy going with a basic small menu. The standout dish were the nachos, which were very generous. Our chicken and burger were a bit overdone and the brownie was ok, if they up their game on the mains and desserts, this would be 5 stars for all visitors. Very friendly and helpful staff and easy ordering system on app or staff by request especially useful for dietary requirements. Overall easy non fussy beautiful decor pub."

"I visit this charming little cafe every day for a hot chocolate and coffee for my work team. The cakes are absolutely delicious and the pizza breads are amazing! The staff are all friendly, but what really sets this place apart is Rob. He always has a smile on his face and is happy to see everyone, making it feel like a home away from home."

"My husband and I visited April 23 with friends and we had an identical experience with a review posted March 2022. Two of us ordered the avocado and the cocktail and the order was taken. After the meal we discovered that there was no avocado in the avocado and prawn cocktail. We immediately told our waiter they hadn't been able to get any for months to which my husband Tesco replied saying they always stock them and we told him we should have said if we ordered it. It doesn't sound like the message was received to the kitchen by Greene King and waiting staff!"

"Took my mum out for lunch, as came here at Christmas 2022 with a friend. Staff came over and asked what we like to drink as it was cold I ordered a tea and cappuccino it arrived I had to sent the cappuccino back as it was cold waiter apolgize and got me another, which wasn't much better so I asked for a pot of hot water to keep the coffee warm. We had a small roast dinner, beef was slice wafer thin beef shop bought not proper beef, roast potatoes and parsnips could of been a bit crisper. The gravy was tasty though. Pudding mine was misleading I thought I'd get lemon sponge with lemon sauce on top and custard only to have a lemon icing cake and custard so don't order lemon sponge as you"ll get a frosted icing cake that doesn't go with custard. Two positives would be the gravy and service was good, shame the meal wasn't good as came here on 14th December 2022 with a friend for a Christmas meal and we had a great time and food was brilliant. This time not so good coffee machine was either on the blink or water wasn't boiled to right temperature."

"Went with friends to celebrate a birthday. From the moment we got there to when we left the experience was great. A large dining area with plenty of space between the tables. A lot of dog walkers with their 4 legged friends, as we are dog lovers, it gave a nice friendly vibe to the place. I chose the roast beef. Only had to wait about 15 minutes for the food. A huge plateful. Piping hot. Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, Roast potatoes, Cauliflower cheese, cabbage, carrots. Plenty of gravy (Homemade not the instant stuff). For desert I had the Raspberry white chocolate bread butter pudding. Heaven on a plate. Nice friendly staff on hand. Altogether a great way to spend a Sunday lunchtime. Definatly will be going back again."

"Myself and three friends thought we would stop and grab a bite to eat and have a few drinks before heading further afield. Everything seemed okay initially, the pub was quiet. The young staff seemed to be a bit moody but we had no issue getting served…until: After two of us had food and returned to our friends at the bar to order a round of drinks we were asked to leave, no explanation given…so off we went. This is the only pub I've ever been refused in, if we had been noisy or caused a disturbance etc fair enough. But we weren't. Just four guys catching up. After reading other reviews on here there seems to be a recurring pattern of staff with attitude and behaviour issues at this venue. So certainly will not be returning or recommending."

"In July, we stayed for 1 night. After checking out arriving home 70 miles away in Surrey, I later realising that I'd left A belonging in the hotel room..A PHONE CHARGER POSSIBLY A NECKLACE(BUT NOT CERTAIN OF THAT). I phoned the lady told me yes we have found THE CHARGER. I asked if I could pick this up in August, when I'd make a special trip there. INDEED I CAME DOWN in AUG DID BEFOREHAND TRY TO CONFIRM BY PHONE BUT THE HOTEL LANDLINE MOBILE WEREN'T WORKING. I TRIED AN EMAIL, IT GOT REJECTED, THEN I SENT A MESSAGE VIA THE WEBSITE, BUT GOT NO REPLY. AS I'D ALREADY SAID I'D BE DOWN IN AUG, I THOUGHT IT'D BE OK. However, when I went there, although I was told that the lady recalled my phone call, my possessions weren't there for me as promised. Her husband, who was on duty said that more staff would be in in 2 days that they'll know where my stuff is that he would call me. I never received that call or any email. If I was lied to, why? And, it caused me a 140 mile very disappointing round trip. I AM GLAD THOUGH TO RECEIVE A REPLY HERE, EVEN THOUGH IT'S PROMPTED BY MY REVIEW."
