"This place is definitely a hidden gem. The exterior gives the impression of an old inn but does not hint at the wonderful atmosphere, food and service you get when you walk in. There is plenty of parking in the pub car park and in an area opposite. This is clearly an old building, but it has been decorated in a sympathetic style so that the history hasn't been lost. The furniture is a mis matched collection of old wooden tables with more modern dining chairs giving a sense of character but with a touch of comfort. (Outside there is a large garden that you can enjoy when the weather is warmer. I have been here many times for lunch, but this was my first evening at the Waggon Horses. I booked for myself and a group of girlfriends for our bi monthly catch up. Upon arriving we received a warm welcome from Hari who made a point of introducing himself and offering drinks once we were seated. I can certainly recommend their white Zinfandel delicious! The menu has something for everyone. Knowing that the portions here are on the generous side we all opted to go for main and dessert. The sausage and mash was comforting and covered in a generous slick of rich gravy; the burger was juicy and well garnished; the fish and chips were beautifully cooked with crisp batter and the chicken kebab with rice was tender and full of flavour. Despite all of us having our fill with the main, we all ordered dessert! The chocolate fondant was just perfect. The sponge was light, the middle was oozing and the ice cream was creamy. Hari and the other staff were attentive during the evening without disturbing us or leaving us waiting for service. They struck a perfect balance. We will definitely come back to the Waggon Horses. We went on a Tuesday evening and every table was booked, so you should plan ahead if you wish to visit! The other customers appeared to be a mix of ages and backgrounds which gave the place a warm buzz. It was great value for money and had a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Great for a get together."

"Living locally this isn't somewhere I've thought about coming before despite having visited and stayed at the hotel several times before as a guest for functions. It's now definitely on the list of restaurants I'll be visiting again. I came here with two friends just...for an evening out. Our waiter, Tom, knew who we were when we arrived (having looked at the bookings) and sat us at our table. The restaurant itself it very well maintained, tastefully decorated and has fantastic views over London. It was quiet when we visited, but not so that it made you uncomfortable as there was background music being played. We all ordered from the set menu. I enjoyed the pork cheek with lentils to start and the herb gnocchi for main. We ordered a side of roast potatoes and a side of broccoli and peas to share between the three of us, which was plenty to go with the veg already with the dishes. Dessert was the chocolate tart. The wine menu offered a good selection. All three courses for all three of us not only looked good, but tasted great. As other reviewers have said, the portions are smaller than you would get at other restaurants, but they are large enough that you feel comfortably satisfied at the end of your meal. The service we received from Tom was outstanding he was on hand to get us everything we needed, but did not hang around the table or push us into ordering or finishing quickly. He even managed to arrange some entertainment for us! One of us happened to mention magic, so Bennie (who was looking after the bar next door) came through and performed some rather impressive card tricks at the table. We had drinks in the bar after dinner and took the time to take in the night view from the terrace. We had the opportunity to talk to Will, the duty manager, who made sure we had enjoyed our evening and recommended that we come back for afternoon tea, which we intend to do soon. Tom, Bennie and Will made sure we had a great evening. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Manor and The Cavendish to family and friends."
