"I visited here on a Friday night with friends. It was a beautiful find, as it wasn't a normal part of Lausanne I'm going. But glad my friends showed me this restaurant. Service is really good and they go out their way to make sure you feel at home and happy. I had the risotto with gambas that was delicious. I also had the Swiss rose on the menu, which was also very nice and dry. Prices are very favourable for both quality and service. In any case, it'll go again."

"Visited here for dinner on a Thursday evening. Glad we had booked ahead as the brasserie was full. The staff were really friendly and helpful and were happy to speak to us in English. We had steaks which were fantastic. Lots of other regional dishes available. Really worth a visit."

"This note concerns two experiences we had with Java between December 2022 and January 2023. During our first visit, we came without a reservation for lunch because my partner is gluten intolerant and they have adapted cuisine. We arrive, a very friendly waitress offers to seat us upstairs and will take care of us for almost the entire meal. We order a truffle risotto as well as the poultry ballotine also accompanied by Risotto. I also take this opportunity to ask the question if it is possible to make sweet pancakes with buckwheat flour (gluten free) and we are confirmed that yes, it is a recurring request, no problem. The dishes arrive but unfortunately the risottos are almost raw and therefore inedible. We therefore reported it to our friendly waitress who quickly brought the dishes back to the kitchen and came back to confirm that she had tasted it and indeed, it was much more than al dente. We joke about it, it happens, no worries. We waited a bit and were served again. Both dishes were very good this time, nothing to add. We therefore order a buckwheat crepe for dessert, once again specifying the gluten allergy. We receive our dessert from another waiter and I notice (luckily for them, before tasting) that the color is too light to be buckwheat. So I call the waiter to ask the question, he is not sure and goes to our first waitress who apologizes, she forgot to specify this in the kitchen. How to put it... we 're trying to put things into perspective but it could have been catastrophic. We then eat the pancake, very good, and ask for a coffee and the bill. Not a single commercial gesture, not even on coffee... it 's not obligatory but it would have been the least we could do... But it was good, so we come out saying that it 's the weekend, relax. So we 're enjoying the experience this weekend. We arrive again to eat without a reservation, but it 's not crowded at all, the waiter tells us that we can go up and sit down (alone). After 15 minutes of waiting, we still saw no one approach our table while we saw the waiter who brought us in snacking downstairs between 2 coffees for the customers. We tell ourselves that he has forgotten and my companion approaches the railing to kindly wave to him. His only answer? "

"This place is fun to go to once or maybe twice, and interesting to sit up at the chef’s table at the back to see right into the open-plan kitchen. How it has a Michelin star is a mystery, though. The food is perfectly good, nicely presented, and tasty, but has nothing of the joie de vivre that should accompany it to transport the taster up to the level of eye-rolling, finger-kissing bliss. They have a good, extensive wine list, though for those used to drinking in France it seems ruinously expensive. The cheaper wines are adequate rather than exciting. The service is courteous and efficient. The atmosphere is comfortable, although the ambience is lacking in that we took away with us the feeling that slick and efficient though this is (born out by observing the cooks in the kitchen who could just as well be surgeons in an operating theatre) it lacks any warmth or love of good food that an establishment purporting to be at the Michelin starred level should offer."

"TO AVOID ! Given the prices, we expect to have semi-gourmet food but unfortunately the quality is far from being there. Dish of dry pasta to suffocate with and equally dry chicken supreme. The disappointment also continues in the service where, after expressing our dissatisfaction, no solution is offered to us. Not to mention the manager who didn't even bother to come to our table and glared at us. A horrible lack of professionalism."

"Having lived in Switzerland for 4 years, I am always looking for amazing restaurants and a hidden gem! This restaurant does not disappoint! It's a small menu but everything they make tastes amazing. I had the menu of the day, which consisted of foie gras and a side salad, filet mignon of beef with a red peppercorn sauce, with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots, and crime brûlée. We had an amazing red Bordeaux to go along with the meal. My friend, Jared thinks the lighting is there but the overhead needs to go. He thought the meal was delicious and that the beef was really tender. He had the pastis for an apero and thought it was really tasty. My friend Stephanie didn't like the Colombo Fr orange but it was a bit too alcoholic for her taste. Her main was the vegetable curry was delicious. The creme du brûlée was licked off her plate!"

Depuis, j'y suis retourné régulièrement et je n'ai toujours commandé que des spaghettis vongoles justement, et vous savez pourquoi ? Parce qu'ils sont tout simplement les meilleurs que je n'aie jamais mangé à ce jour.Quant au ristretto on ne le dit pas assez, mais c'est souvent la galère pour en déguster un bon un vrai un authentique. Ici c'est ces trois adjectifs que vous sucrerez. BRAVO à tout l’équipage, la mer est bleue et devrait le rester :-)"

"This was a big disappointment. We booked a table to celebrate the marriage for our friends who had to cancel their wedding due to Covid-19. So we wanted something special, and we wrote in the booking that we would be celebrating a marriage and were looking for a nice place to sit, and to be prepared to welcome the couple. When we arrived, they were not even prepared with a table for us. It was so embarrassing-we had told the couple that we booked a nice table for their wedding celebration, and then we arrived and they told us to sit down on a table that was not even prepared with cutlery/serviettes. After, when it was time to order food, they told us that did not have the promotional deal which they had advertised online. This meant that the food was much more expensive than what was advertised online. And when the food came, it was not very good at all. The egg on the pizza was raw, the dough of the pizza was very tough and difficult to eat. I do not recommend this place, despite the many good reviews that are online about it."

When people order trays and they PAY, the least they can do is give napkins and cutlery and not blow when asked, this message is especially aimed at the short black-haired English-speaking miss. We're here to have a good time, not teach you your job. It's good to hire pretty little girls, it would be even better if they know how to serve... of course this doesn't concern all the waitresses, some are adorable and professional."

"The atmosphere was a bit dead on a Tuesday night but I guess that is a constant anywhere in Lausanne. The menu is based on a few salads and burgers. The beer menu is nice. We had an Argentina and a Brie burger. The Argentina burger was not great, super garlicky although the Brie one was OK. A shame that the bread in both burgers was old and soggy. If this restaurant is kind of a burger place they should at least have good bread and cook their own french fries and not use frozen ones, which by the way are absolutely horrible. Don't be lazy! Cooking your own fries is not that much work and probably cheaper that buying those frozen ones! Prices are average, but quality is quite below average. There are way better burgers for the same prices or cheaper in Lausanne."
