"I really like this place. I have been to this simple restaurant with a close friend of mine on several occasions. I first went on Valentine’s Day, when I had imagined that the restaurant would be full of diners contrarily; the restaurant was completely empty throughout the night. The restaurant has continued to be very quiet during each of my subsequent visits. In my opinion, it isn’t because the food is bad, but likely due to the crisis in the local economy—my friend has assured me that the place has more patronage during lunchtime. We often order an antipasto misto with mixed meats and cheeses, which is always served with honey (once, even two types of honey and bread. The bread at Bistrot is lightly salted, unlike the typical bland soapy bread often found in restaurants in the surrounding area. Sometimes I am a creature of habit, and I usually skip the primo and go straight for meat the tagliata with cherry tomatoes, arugula, and shaved cheese (I think pecorino, but it could be parmisan… I guess I didn’t pay enough attention! is my go to meal. I have never been disappointed! The cook is always spot on and the meat is dressed with a bit of balsamic vinegar and assorted salts on the side. The attention to details such as honey and salt really sets this restaurant apart from similarly prices places in the surrounding villages. Strangely, during my last trip to the restaurant, we weren’t served any of the various salts. However, I am sure if we asked for it the manager would gladly provide us some. For wine, ask for a recommendation. We often take a cheap 2011 Shiraz that is quite good. On the downside, the music in the restaurant is sometimes a little too loud for the atmosphere. Sometimes there is some nice acoustic Brazilian/Portuguese music on, but sometimes the music cheapens the experience. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends!
