"Loved my evening here. The service was superb and the food was among the best I’ve tasted. We tried the tasting menu which absolutely did not disappoint. Every course hit the spot for me bar 1 which was the fiancé’s fave (so absolutely this was down to personal taste). Tasting menu didn’t often feel like it was ‘trying’ to be clever. Not sure I can find the words to do the experience justice. But will try! Tasting menu felt like it had structure. Starting with an enticing cheese and pickle doughnut which was superb and then moving through a fish course which was light and well balanced and on to what felt like the main event in the beef with artichoke purée. For me the beef and artichoke was sublime. Dessert came in the form of a choux bun which was thoroughly enjoyable. The last dish rice pudding with cherry refreshed the palette and felt like it closed the meal perfectly. Also, the sourdough was excellent. Light and fluffy inside with, for me, the perfect chewy/crispy crust. I have a lot of respect for whoever baked that. Champagne Mojito also worth a mention. Loved this cocktail. Would definitely recommend. I only hope that everyone finds the right restaurant/experience for them. First time here but I feel like we picked the right night. Hope to try again sometime soon but may avoid the full tasting menu. As lovely as it was I feel like I could explode."

"We had a table booked for 7.45 last night. There was 6 of us. They sat us in 2 couches, with a really low table, and 2 tall chairs placed around the table. We asked whether we could be moved to a proper table suitable...for eating at. We were told “will see what we can do”. Other people arrived and were given the tables suitable for eating, even though they weren’t eating! We ordered drinks, they took absolutely ages to come. 3 of us ordered piña colada’s, and honestly they tasted horrible. There was no coconut nor pineapple flavour. One of us questioned the waiter what was in the drinks, he assured us they were piña colada’s. We said that we didn’t like them, and that they tasted strange. He just shrugged and walked off. Food took an absolute age too. Starters were really nice, but the burgers were like slop. We ordered different drinks as we didn’t like the ones we had. We had finished the food by the time they came! After the food one of us asked for a baileys coffee, to be told the coffee machine had been turned off . Asked for just a baileys on its own. 25 mins later no sign of it. We asked what was taking so long, and the waitress went back to the bar. 10 mins later we were told there was no baileys!! Having visited this place numerous times in the past, we were so disappointed with it. Not sure what’s happened but the cocktails are rubbish. Taste like wetherspoons premixed rubbish, and at £7/£8 each, it’s really overpriced. They used to sell proper cocktail bar cocktails. As for the food, the menu was tiny. Worst of all for us was the service. No apologies, no nothing. A £170 bill, which came instantly after asking for it fastest thing all night!! So disappointing from somewhere we used to love."

"Recently visited San Lorenzo, an Italian restaurant, and unfortunately, it seems to be going in the wrong direction. I have been a regular customer for many years and have always enjoyed the food in the past. The experience was just okay during the starters, although they were not fantastic. However, when my partner ordered a carbonara for the main course, it was completely inedible. The sauce had curdled and looked disgusting. When the waitress asked if everything was alright, my partner mentioned that it wasn't great. Instead of simply accepting the comment and offering a replacement, the waitress engaged in a strange exchange, trying to explain how a traditional carbonara should be made. Firstly, a traditional carbonara does not include cream, which was heavily present in the dish we were served. Additionally, the sauce was clearly not prepared correctly, as it was difficult to miss. It was disappointing that the chefs let such a poorly made dish leave the kitchen. The pasta was also overcooked and turned to mush. I used to love this restaurant, but it is clear that it is now on a downward trend. Basic customer service should involve accepting feedback and offering apologies or replacements, rather than lecturing customers. The waitress's attempt at a lecture was frustrating, especially since the information provided was incorrect. A simple apology would have sufficed."

"My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of town when we decided to drop into The Town Wall Pub, this is a wonderful pub that was just a joy to visit. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here ,the interior is superb, it looks like a former Georgian townhouse ,the interior is cool ,multi roomed, light and airy, a solid wood serving bar dominates one of the rooms, eclectic decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a wonderful pub to visit. We were here on a Thursday afternoon, pub was just starting to get busy with a great atmosphere, we ordered a pale ale each from Wylam Brewery, these were served in pristine condition, we settled down and planned out the day we while sipping our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, fresh, crisp ,hoppy but not overhopped, a delicate aroma and taste, on a really hot day a totally refreshing brew, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew. We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Town Wall Pub we were totally impressed. The Town Wall Pub is easy to locate along Pink Street. Opening hours are;Monday to Thursday, Midday till Friday Saturday, Midday till Sunday, Midday till Most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area."
