"I booked this almost 3 months in advance, for our wedding anniversary and i have to say, it was well worth the wait. The service was understated but very efficient and the food was sublime. We had a beautiful Chablis with our meal, very well priced. My husband had a ‘delicious’ seafood starter and i had a well seasoned prawn crumble, both arrived at the table fresh from the oven and the accompanying toast and bread were still warm. We both chose lamb cutlets for our main and they were fabulous. Tender and perfectly cooked (pink) and the accompanying vegetables were red hot, perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. I didn't have room for a dessert, but my husband pronounced his ‘absolutely lovely’ and i have no reason to doubt his opinion! We were both stunned when it came to paying the bill it was so cheap! We paid more for fish and chips last week than for the fantastic main course and i know which id rather have! I am amazed that this restaurant is not further up the trip advisor rankings it is seriously one on the best places i have eaten at in a long time and it wont be long before i go again…. If i had to make a complaint, i found the seats uncomfortable but its such a minor thing that in no way would it put me off going again I have tried to book this restaurant for a while now, but whenever the opportunity arose they were fully booked. I booked in March to go in May, and as I left i noticed a sign saying they are fully booked until August, so if you want to go be advised to book well in advance."

"My wife and I were staying as residents of The Barnstaple Hotel, but given that non residents can also visit the restaurant, have chosen to review it separately. Weeks before our trip to Barnstaple, we had looked at the menu, read the reviews and were frankly quite excited to be dining here. Residents of the hotel certainly do not need to venture in Barnstaple town to eat. My wife had the fish cake starter and I had the beetroot cured salmon both were excellent. My wife had the lamb main course and I had the sea bass. We were delighted with both of these, although I thought the highlight for me were actually the vegetable sides! Great care has been taken over these. The service, food, general dining experience was at superior level until it was the turn of the young lad with 'shaggy hair ' to play his part in our meal. His only job is to clear plates, provide complimentary water and offer the dessert menu. He cleared our plates, topped up our water and I asked for the dessert menu, which never arrived. It was frustrating to see him only carrying out these three tasks, clearly not able to perform all of them. When one of his more capable colleagues asked us whether we would like to see the dessert menu, I explained what had happened and that we would just have the bill. Shaggy haired teen aside, his poor performance is not sufficient to lose The Brasserie Restaurant any TripAdvisor 'blobs '. I have been visiting Barnstaple for more than a decade and frankly only Claytons The Glasshouse has provided anything like this. Wholeheartedly recommended and would definitely return. Amongst the best in Barnstaple."

"We had a voucher for an afternoon tea for two valid at lots of locations around the UK and after looking at the locations local to us Northcote Manor stood out and we were not disappointed at all. The setting itself is lovely, a beautiful, traditional manor house, set in lovely grounds with great views. Upon arrival and being shown to the lounge area where lunch and afternoon tea is served, we were promptly brought our tea and coffee, and told our afternoon tea would be out shortly, and also jokingly warned I hope you 're hungry . Minutes later we were presented with an array of treats, and now we knew exactly what the gentleman meant by I hope you 're hungry . We 've had afternoon teas at many different hotels but we 've not been presented before with such an array of delicious afternoon treats. First up we had a selection of sandwiches, tuna and cucumber, ham and egg mayo, all with plentiful and fresh quality filling served along with some crisps. Next up were the scones, 2 scones each one fruit and one plain with jam and clotted cream, served still warm and cut in half ready to cover in cream and jam. My only criticism here would be maybe a touch more jam and cream would have been nice. Next up an array of sweet treats. Lemon drizzle cake, fruit cake, mince pies, shortbread biscuits, strawberry tart and a sticky toffee cake. All delicious. This has to be one of the best afternoon teas we have had, and great value for money (even without a voucher) considering the location and portions. Staff were friendly and left you to enjoy your food but around if you had any problems. Would recommend."

Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut

Sticklepath, EX31 2AX, North Devon, United Kingdom

Pizza • Pasta • American • Ice Cream

"We visited for lunch on a weekday, using the discount code offered by a certain insurance company who uses cute rodents in their advertising. We explained this to the staff, who initially struggled to describe to us how we could use the discount, but we got there in the end. We haven't been into a Pizza Hut for about 20 years and very little seemed to have changed really, not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing! The salad bar is still there, as is the ice cream factory, which our children used to love when they were small. An addition of a fancy drinks dispenser bottomless drinks gives you the freedom to top up when you like and to change your drink. We each had a pizza with a side, one stuffed crust, one thin and crispy. The food was fine, hot and freshly prepared. I always think pizza at a restaurant is better than one can produce in a home oven and we were really hungry, so almost inhaled our food. Staff were friendly and attentive. Even with our discount, our bill came to £24 not bad. But had we paid the full asking price of £40, would we have come away thinking that we had received good value, no. Whilst staying in the Barnstaple area we had other meals at around the same price (without having been discounted) and felt that we had received better food and were more satisfied afterwards. Pizza Hut doesn't pretend to be haute cuisine but, for that very reason, a quick tasty meal, perhaps it is pricing it's goods too high to encourage repeat customers."
