"So we relocated from Manchester to Kirk Ella in East Riding in March 2021. Since that date we have been on a journey of discovery in East Riding, Hull, North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Cleethorpes is our place to go if we want a little bit of English seaside for the day. We have been to many places for something to eat. Anyway on a sunny Saturday at the end of February we went for a few hours. 5 adults and 2 grandchildren. We wanted something to eat, but did not want Fish and chips, pub meal or sit down meal. We just went into Cleethorpes centre and came across this little restaurant. I won 't go into what everyone had but the menu was fine and the food and drinks available was very good. So my son had been a chef in Manchester but on moving decided on a career change. He is hard to please food wise and can be highly critical about food . We have had many meals in various places from posh to greasy spoon roadsides. The menu says its cheese on toast is famous, so he decided to have that with added bacon. Anyway since our visit we had a conversation about food whilst having a meal in Hull which he did not enjoy. During that conversation he said that the best thing he had eaten by a country mile since our move was the cheese on toast at this place. Trust me, if he says that, it is good. I know he was impressed because he left a sizeable tip for the staff. He has been in hospitality since leaving school and knows when staff should be rewarded for good food and service. The staff were polite and friendly and like i said the rest of the offerings were excellent as well. Will be visiting again."

"Attended a family wedding here recently. The restaurant, the location and the facilities were top notch, I think you would have to work hard to improve on what they have achieved here. However, the bar staff in the first floor function suite leave much to be desired ! Their attitude and reaction to the wedding guests during the wedding reception and evening event should definatly be improved ! It began with the sullen faces of the waiting staff during the reception , most should learn how to smile only one lady waitress blonde hair new starter was polite and smiled give her a job in staff training We asked for a bread roll during lunch, to be told, only for guests who have ordered soup ! Eventually after asking again they brought two over for the brides father... The evening event was a challenge when we struggled to understand why the part bottles of wine had disappeared from the table, when most of the guests were drinking spirits and beer etc. The penny , or should I say the C £17,000 dropped when the waitresses were removing full glasses of drinks from the table without checking! When challenged , the nonchalant response was to place the drinks back on the table and march off like petulant teenager! Our dismay was amplified the following day during a conversation with the restaurant manager told us , that 's what we do, If you need to keep your opened bottles of wine on the table you need to let us know , otherwise they will be removed! oh, so the wine is cleared along with the newly poured drinks too then? I don 't think we, or anyone else we know have ever been to a restaurant and even thought to tell the waiting staff not to take the half bottles of wine away before they have been emptied ? This usual practice was not discussed when we booked ! A cynic could suspect they re sell the newly recovered wine by the glass. This said, the manager did compensate with two bottles of the brides choice , so thanks for recognising the issue. But please consider NOT removing part bottles etc without checking in the first place."

"I used this caffe, most of the sundays for one. nice clean caffe / takeaway with friendly service a good selection of traditional English breakfasts to your bag and appetit smashing Sunday roasting, bark meat or pork lunch recommended, good quality meat served with fresh vegetables (no frozen or skillful mum), plus a good yorkshire pud. on weekdays the menu is even more extensive. I have always been satisfied with eating and friendly staff good value for money. more about barneys as I mentioned earlier, it is very clean, it is also well lit and warm. It has a selection of children's meals available and baby seats so family-friendly. it has own toilets that are also clean and tidy. the layout is a standard table and chairs set up, the chairs are movable so that a buggy or wheelchair can easily be accommodated when required. there are some parking on the road and more space in the neighboring side streets, also on a large bus route. it's just cash here. it also has a 5 food hygiene assessment. food review dezember 2018. I still come here regularly, today had my usual traditional Sunday renown here, still good quality eating and service to affordable trips. I recommend this place gladly. food review januar 2020. I had again today my usual traditional bratbeefed here, a good size of the tasty soft roasted bark, accompanied by a selection of fresh vegetables a roasted kartoffel and, of course, a homemade Yorkshire doll, everything perfectly cooked and presented. there was a small price increase recently, I paid £6.90 for my meal and a cup tee, still good price-performance ratio in view of the overall quality of eating, and table service. they have also introduced free wlan and an online order and delivery service. update dezember 2021. as with most others, there has been a price increase lately, the price for a roast chicken, pork or beef lunch and a cup tee is now £8.20"

"On a glorious afternoon, we decided to take a long walk to the village as we knew this place had an outdoor beer garden and we could sit in the sun and enjoy a pint. The service was friendly and the beer garden quiet, so...we got exactly what we were looking for. After a couple of drinks and too much sun, we opted to give the restaurant another go (see previous review in Dec Again, service friendly and efficient (albeit we were the only ones in there) and the deal was good value: for dishes from the Tapas menu and a bottle of house wine. We were even allowed to swap the Chardonnay offered for a Pinot, so far, so good. That was where the positives ended I'm afraid. Tapas it was not. We have friends who own a Tapas place and eat there all the time, we've also had the Tapas at Abby's on several occassions, so we know what we were expecting. Meatballs were tiny and cooked to within an inch of their lives, sauce was too salty. Lamb had been cremated and in the same over-seasoned sauce ontop of what was clearly salad' left over from the previous day as I expect, were all the dishes. Potatoes were okay' but the worst two dishes by far were the beef in white wine and garlic and the mixed seafood Paella. The beef was chewy and whatever it had been cokoked in rendered it inedible. Horrible, vinegary taste. The Paella was not Paella. It was Uncle Ben's WHITE? rice, with a few tiny, tiny prawns, three rings of rubbery squid and two mussels. I suspect, straight from the freezer fish pie mix from Morrisons. No seasoning, nothing. A hugely disappointing meal yet again. We heard some guys talking in the garden about how poor the restaurant is and how badly it is losing customers now we know why. This was second chance saloon for this place and unfortunately, it failed again. Can't fault the friendliness of the staff/owners and we will probably visit for another drink, but no way will we part with cash for food here in the future. Such a shame, this place could be so good."
