"We stayed in a hotel nearby and walked over to this area. There were 4 restaurants to choose from. We chose Hippopotamus...it was a good choice. We entered about 2045, were greeted rapidly and a table for 2 was found. The restaurant was packed. We...ordered and had a Hippo Alcohol, 2 steak Hache Oeuf and a banana split for dessert. Our waiter (Brian) was very attentive, even as busy as he was. Food reminded us of a stateside steakhouse, it was a good meal and service was very good."

"Nice and pleasant experience overall. Booking is not allowed, which may be a bit tedious for larger group of friends, hence you must come around 7PM. Wide range of choice : pasta, pizza… food is tasty but a bit overpriced IMO. The brand is clearly involved here. Waiters were very nice, but inexperienced too : they forgot some courses, some mistakes made for the desserts… You will like it, but it may not be worth the price."

"En semaine ou en week-end, le personnel est accueillant, agréable et professionnel. Les viandes sont parfaitement cuites à la demande. Mention spéciale pour le magret de canard ! Mais le tartare de bœuf ou le pavé sont aussi succulents et tendre...sans oublier la savoureuse sauce Charmelcia ! En dessert, les profiteroles au chocolat, le sunday sauce Nutella sont un vrai régal pour les gourmands ! La part de Camembert à point est généreusement servie, tout comme le café gourmand. La salle est grande et agréable."

"We only decided to try this restaurant as its in the hotel where we were staying. Our experience was that the food was very good however the service was poor. The head waiter (if thats what he was) was cold and unfriendly from the moment...we arrived in the bar. His attitude rubbed off on the others which spoilt the entire evening. What a shame! Oh I forgot to say that the restaurant was also spoilt by the (yes three) massive TV's all showing sport. I don't think its advertised as a Sports Bar That was a first for us in a french restaurant."

"There is not much choice in restaurants near Bordeaux Merignac Airport on a Sunday evening. This chain restaurant is surprisingly good especially when travelling with a toddler grandchild...secure and sound insulated play area visible from our table! The service was friendly and our excellent waitress...spoke very good English. The starters are a bit average but the main course Fish and Chips was faultlessly executed and the Mussels were delicious. The building is a little dated in one sense but when built was clearly to a high standard and is spotlessly clean. If I have another early Monday flight out of Bordeaux requiring an airport stay I will look forward to a return visit."

"On the day we discovered that this little restaurant, at the corner of our street, had been taken over by lionel and her daughter, and that we tasted its xl coasts served with homemade fries, her calf heads, her terrines, her calf ribs, her magrets and even the homemade desserts, we wondered what was worth this incredible chance. having a lionel close to home is living next to paradise. Since then, we have left under other heavens, but every return, our first visits are for this restaurant. gourmets, those who love cooked meat as you need, who appreciate the sincerity and generosity in the plate as in the reception, run.Can't be disappointed."
