"First visit to the cider mill under this ownership. Sunday lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Good choice of meat and plenty of vegetables with cauliflower cheese. Extra gravy served with your meal. Could not fault the meal at all. What stood out for me was the warm attentive waitress. She was exceptional. If you are lucky enough to have Katie attending your table you will know exactly what I mean. She is a breath of fresh air. She is unaware of how good she is. Polite, funny and very switched on with the ability to read a table before you actually request something. She’s on the ball even amongst a very busy Sunday roast room. Only constructive criticism I would recommend, is that this restaurant monopolises on the name of the establishment “cider mill” and offer a local or even a Welsh cider selection."

"We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food at Yummy Kitchen in Crickhowell. After a long day of riding, my brother and I found that all the local pubs had stopped taking food orders, except for Yummy Kitchen which was still serving until 9:30pm. We decided to try the large cod and chips and were blown away by how tasty it was. The cod was the best I've ever had, with a delicious batter and tender, flavorful fish inside. Despite being one of the last orders of the day, the chips were still fresh and delicious. The portion size was huge, and we initially thought we wouldn't be able to finish it all, but the food was so good that we couldn't bear to waste any of it. If I ever find myself in the area again, I would definitely return to Yummy Kitchen for more of their amazing cod and chips. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for top-notch fish and chips."

"Great fish and chip bar. Quick service considering how busy it gets. Only thing that lets it down for me is the pukka pies.. the steak and kidney pies are more like the ones Tesco sell (with the red foil bases) rather than the silver based ones i'm used to (silver are larger and meatier).. This seems common in Wales though so maybe Pukka don't sell the same ones in Wales. Parking can ve awkward....Other than that it is an outstanding place to get fish and chips. "Booked for first time Sunday lunch for myself and my disabled mum who is in her 70s. We arrived and were seen by a male waiter who informed us our table wasn't yet ready which was fine but we were informed there was nowhere to sit inside with a drink whilst we waited. There were two empty tables by the bar so we presumed these were booked for diners about to arrive. We were told we could sit outside but this wasn't suitable for my mum so we sat in the car. We went back 15 minutes later and the table still wasn't ready. We were informed the diners using our booked table were getting ready to pay and the table would be cleaned soon. The one table however which had been empty , had a couple who arrived after us , sitting having drinks and were then taken through to eat ? My mum cannot stand up for long at all but a female waitress did notice her struggle and she was kind enough to fetch mum a chair. We waited 20 minutes until the table was free which wasn't a great start. However the service from the female staff was exceptionally prompt and friendly and our mushroom starters arrived quickly and were delicious. I had a roast dinner , mum had salmon. Part of my food wasn't all hot but i am not too bothered and I enjoyed mine. Most of mums was tepid and although staff checked if our meals were okay we didn't feel we wanted to say anything. They didn't have any cheesecake left for dessert so I didn't have anything else but mum's lemon meringue she said was lovely. So all in all a mixed review with some parts better than others and one we left unsure if we would rush to go back."

"Great kebab shop, varied menu . Had the combi doner and lofted kebab, meat was good quality and very tasty. I like the way they cut the diner into smallish slices as opposed to the long slices I'm used to, made a nice change. Generous portions, also had the cheesy chips with garlic sauce which were gorgeous. A group of lads got in just before us but they were served super quick and so were we. Friendly guys running it. If you are in rhayader and fancy a quick, decent and enjoyable takeaway this is the place to go."

"The only positive aspect of this restaurant is its central location. Unfortunately, there are many negatives to consider. Upon arrival, we were ignored by two staff members who seemed preoccupied with other tasks. We eventually received assistance, but the new staff member was unable to give us directions to the nearest parking lot or a specific room. My room was a decent size, but had a musty smell. The bathroom was in poor condition, with mold and a worn-out appearance. I was grateful to have brought flip flops so I didn't have to walk on the carpet barefoot. The door handle was barely attached, and the carpet on the main staircase felt unstable. Overall, my experience was very disappointing, and I have no intention of returning. I was only there out of necessity, not choice."

"We stopped in for a snack and a drink and were very impressed with the staff, who were great and very helpful. We ordered two mugs of tea and two egg and sausage sandwiches. The sausage had an old English, slightly herby and spicy flavor that was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning to this great cafe and highly recommend not missing out on it. The service, food, and atmosphere all scored a perfect 5 in our books. The price per person was very reasonable at £1-10 for a brunch meal. We recommend trying the sausage when you visit."

"It was a meal for my 60th Birthday as it is My birthday on Christmas Day, so my Children and my Grandchildren were all excited as was I as it was a surprise. We were met by the Manager who was very rude and abrupt and told us our table was from 12 to 2 and he needed our table to be empty by 2pm. He said 'Your starters will be served at 12 so be ready at the table for them! ' We sat and were ready....Soup arrived and it was cold, next the main Turkey meal , cold and in my 60 yrs I have never had a load of fat on my Turkey(which was cold), it was like Pork fat.....under cooked Yorkshire Puddings and don 't get me started on the veg .....the only thing that was warm was the **** gravy... it was supposed to be a beautiful meal for my big birthday as I have cooked every Christmas Day for all of my family so my 60th Birthday treat for me and my family was a total disaster. So would I recommend to eat here....NOT A **** CHANCE AND THANK YOU FOR THE WORST AND MOST EXPENSIVE CHRISTMAS MEAL I HAVE HAD.....DIGUSTING"

"I went to Machynlleth on market day which is on a Wednesday, I travelled on the Coastal train from Tal-y-Bont (I would urge you to take this ride absolutely wonderful) to Machynlleth and spent the next couple of hours just walking round the Town square and market. For the first time I decided to try street food and purchased food from a stall run by the Green Goat cafe what an absolute mind blower it was absolutely delicious I had to sit in the street to eat it and it was a little bit messy but this added to the food even more the gentleman who served me was a real character as well I do believe I shall be trying this way of eating again and at my age as well a real hoot."

"We were travelling as two couples and we called in here for lunch as the only place we could find that was open. The place is clean and bright and tables are well spaced. We were seated quickly but sadly the service was then pretty poor. The lady serving us said she was just helping out fair enough but she did not know what wine they had and there was no drinks menu so we had no idea of prices etc.. Eventually I went up to the bar to find out what was available and ordered a house red, but still no indication of price. We gave our orders after short delay but nearly an hour after we had arrived we still had no food. Other tables who had arrived after us were being served. When we eventually asked where our food was, we were told that the other tables were eating salads so it was quicker for them . However, at least one of the diners on the next table had fish and chips and cooked dishes were being served on the other tables too. It was clear that either our inexperienced waitress had not put our order in or the kitchen had overlooked it. Of course these things happen and we would have understood if they had been honest, but to try and fob us off was very disappointing. When the food came, the prawn cocktail was delicious and very good value. The steak sandwich was OK but sat on a slice of dry white sliced bread not what you would expect at £13.95. The other two dishes were Rik 's hot dawgs which sounded very substantial and tempting for our hungry husbands. Sadly the single sausage was very small, the size you would get on a children 's menu. The dish was hugely overpriced at £10.95. So, with one exception, disappointing and overpriced food, poor service and an hour 's wait for food. So, we won 't be back!!"

"I booked this pub a couple of weeks prior to the date I wanted to go and spoke to a very helpful staff member who advised that as long as we could arrive by 3pm and leave by 4.30, we could be accommodated. My friend and I managed to arrive earlier than anticipated and were seated straight away, then had our drinks and food orders taken by a lovely lady. We both ordered garlic mushrooms, followed by roast lamb. Mushrooms served with garlic bread delicious. Roast lamb served with ample gravy, roast potatoes and at our request a Yorkshire pudding. There was also a large dish of assorted vegetables and another one with new potatoes. We suggested they take the potatoes back straight away as we knew we wouldn’t eat it all! The roast dinner was absolutely delicious in every way, proper home cooking and beautifully served. The lamb was tender and plentiful. With no room for desert, we asked for a portion of apple pie and custard to take away. That was equally delicious. This is a no frills pub, the appearance of which belies the treats it bestows on customers. Being a stranger to the area looking for somewhere to go for Sunday lunch, I selected this place based on the location near Brecon canal basin and the reviews. We were not disappointed. Staff are pleasant and welcoming and the food excellent value for money. If I visited the area again I would have no hesitation in returning. Thank you."

"What a refreshing change to go in a pub that is a traditional pub. Great food, had a curry and a lasagna that was obviously homemade, asked for no chips and they increased the salad and what seemed to be homemade made coleslaw as well. Loved it. Drinks an excellent price as well. Will definitely go back when we come back. No airs or graces, but a visit that we enjoyed."

"I'm a local and regularly visit this fascinating tea shop (they sell coffee too . It's hard to know where to start, they have an amazing selection of teas, and they have a large range of coffees, and the hot chocolate is pretty good too....Then there is the food, most of which, including the bread, is hand made on the premises using local ingredients where possible. I would happily just eat bread and butter! Then we get to the second part of the shop, whilst you sit you are surrounded by an amazing array of fair trade goods and local art. I can go in there every day and still find something I haven't seen before. To top it all off is the warm welcome given to locals and visitors alike from the owners and staff. Even your dog will get a biscuit! If you are visiting Knighton this is one place you must visit"

"I had been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while after seeing some amazing photos on Facebook. It was definitely worth the wait. The menu is very diverse, the food is cooked very well, and the service is fabulous. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the portion sizes were just right. I will definitely be returning."

"3rd review, I think, but has to be done. Fabians is consistently excellent. The restaurant itself is lovely. The food is ALWAYS great and the service is consistently superb! It's so nice to go to a restaurant where you are made to feel comfortable and welcome from the outset. I also appreciate that Fabian makes every single dish from scratch. So many restaurants use pre-made frozen veg etc, you wont find that in Fabians. Very tasty food in a great venue. Thanks again!"

"One of the best curries I’ve ever eaten. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Samber (spicy and sour) which was a new dish for me along with aloo gobi, mushroom pilau and a plain naan. Each element was superb. Honestly cannot remember a curry this good. I will return. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30"

"Scene setting: We're English and went for dinner at the Farmers Arms, just as England were playing Wales at Rugby. The place was heaving with locals watching the rugby all sporting their Welsh rugby tops brilliant atmosphere. We sat in the restaurant area (just us, as everyone else was watching the rugby we were too scared to join them ; and the team lit the open fire for us which was very much appreciated. Drinks came very quickly, along with menus. The beers were brilliant highly recommend the Reverend James. We ordered food and didn't have to wait too long for our starters to arrive. OH had leek and potato soup. He said it was very tasty and the portion size was incredibly good. I had the Thai fish cakes with home made sweet chilli sauce both of these were just wonderful. We both had the sirloin steak fabulously cooked and very tasty. England then won the rugby! At this point we feared for our lives (and we were utterly relived that the food had arrived before the end of play ; . It was also at this point that the lovely young waiter showed us the side door, just in case we needed a swift exit strategy! After the majority of locals had left (to go and have a cry about losing to the English , the manger came over for a chat. What a thoroughly lovely man. All of the staff were just wonderful. Great beer, food, service and very good value for money. Highly recommend. (I don't follow sport. I love Wales and the Welsh people all of this is meant very much tongue in cheek xx"

"Stopped for lunch in Talgarth whilst travelling along road to Brecon very pretty village btw! Really charming cafe, with walls lined with books and retro decoration. Fabulous lunch we both had the baked potato with chilli, which sounds basic but was much nicer than you normally get. Good potato and the chilli had some heat, which you don't normally get in pub/cafe chilli. Good salad and coleslaw came with it. We enjoyed it so much that we came for lunch again on our way back from Pembroke. This time we had sandwiches, both excellent, and seriously recommend the roast lamb with mint sauce sandwich served hot, great meat, very tasty indeed. Lovely staff, good value, big portions. Will head straight here when in area again."
