"It’s a very small restaurant so getting a table can be tricky and the main room is crammed with as many covers as they can squeeze in. With this in mind we booked a table for 5 people for 7.30. Upon arrival the waitress showed...us to a table and we sat down. Another lady, I assume the manager, told us that this wasn’t our table and said we would have to move. We told her we had booked for 7.30 and she told us she was expecting us at 6!? This is clearly an issue with internal communication as this was definitely not the time we had booked, we weren’t even available at 6! Very poor customer service skills. It was clear that there wasn’t enough room to accommodate us. And to say we were made to feel unwelcome from the outset is an understatement. Rather than telling us we had to move perhaps a more professional approach would be to try and sort the issue more discretely? For starters I don’t appreciate being told I’ve arrived at the wrong time considering I made the booking via the phone with a member of staff!!! Again customer service non existent. Rude. We had not visited Mondello’s for some time before tonight because the last time we did my partner was served a chicken breast that was raw in the middle. The manager at the time gave us our full meal complimentary to apologise. Our return tonight has confirmed my view that the restaurant is not well run and is probably best avoided."

"It was my first visit here in a long time (back in my early teens , and my recent visit was to come to have a spot of family lunch. The entrance is spacious, and since I don't recall what it looked like before the refurb, I can say it seems to be a waste of good space in areas. The welcome was great, attentive volunteers (I believe . We were directed to the cafe area. We made our orders and it did take an age to get the food considering the place was very very quiet when we were there. There were two staff waiting on tables and they were not the friendliest when they were not directly serving you. They walked about as if they did not want to be there. One actually looked under the weather with who knows what. Who I can only assume was the manager or supervisor (dressed differently in jeans and a shirt was not particulary friendly and would try his best to not look in your direction if he knew you were trying to get his attention. My food was dry as anything and we did request condiments but the bloke wasn't listening and didn't bring what was requested. I was expecting some chips with my meal if I am honest, with the price charged, but all I got was a dry meal and a bit of salad. I would not go back here. I think it is a good place for kids though (from the human aspect of it, Professor Jiggety? , was a delight to the young ones. Some of the exhibitions in the museum are ...curious to say the least."
