"we found this lovely little pub totally by accident,returning home from the grand national,we saw it signposted off the A43,between silverstone and brackley,on arriving at 14.40 we saw that food stopped at 15,00 carol the chef however was only too pleased to keep the kitchen open,and provided us with a lovely lunch,which was also very reasonably priced,this customer service deserves recognition,and a lovely traditional inn deserves a wider audience,thanks again."

"I visit this fantastic cafe daily as we work locally and it truly is superb in every way. Delicious food, great value, super friendly service, and the best soups any of us have ever had, anywhere! It’s got a great feeling of being hidden away too, so a nice spot to hide away from the world, as you admire stunning scenery over the fields. "We had Sunday lunch at the Red Lion for over £20 and found it to be very overpriced. We were surprised by the service charge, which seemed like an unnecessary extra cost. The beef was tasty but had a lot of gristle, requiring a steak knife to cut through. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were both soggy, indicating they had been cooked hours before. When we asked for horseradish, it took over 5 minutes for it to be brought to our table. Overall, the quality of the food was disappointing compared to previous visits. If this is now the standard at the Red Lion, we may not return in the future. We did not complain at the time as we prefer to avoid confrontation, but a good restaurant should get it right the first time."

"Were expecting some great food from this pub as researched it thoroughly for a lovely sunday lunch with the family. The starters were disappointing (the spring roll was all soggy and undercooked inside). There was hardly any meat with the roast but worst of all there was not much choice of sides like coulifouer and cheese which is a MUST for all sunday roasts? The potatoes seemed like they've been reheated at least 3 times or cooked the day before as they were waxy inside. All in all we won't be back."

"Sometimes the best pubs are the ones you find unexpectedly. Whilst on my way to the Cotswolds, feeling peckish I passed this pub and decided to stop and see if they were doing lunch. I’m under the impression they had only just opened up for the day as it was rather cold inside and the fire had just been lit up. They had in fact just turned the fryers on and were doing lunch. I could tell by the offset this pub was very much a no thrills, pub grub type establishment and sometimes that is just all you need. I opted for a fish finger sandwich and side salad and it was really nice, filled the gap just nicely and at just £7.95 you can’t complain. How refreshing it was, to see a pub menu that wasn’t over the top expensive. Now that’s a proper pub. Food you can afford. £9.95 for Macaroni Cheese for example. Where do you find prices like that in this day and age? Yes I’m sure not all of the food is made fresh on site, some is most likely to be packeted but seeing this sort of price for a meal in this day and age is just so rare to find and honestly I was impressed. The couple running the pub (in particular the lady) couldn’t have been more accomodating and made sure we were warm enough and were happy with everything. The pub dog was also adorable. This pub deserves more recognition, because not many places like this exist anymore."

"A memorial service was held at the church, we needed a venue for guests refreshments, also accommodation for two nights . From the very first phone call, Paul was extremely helpful and understanding of what was required. From the moment we arrived he was considerate and kind in helping us to get settled. The accommodation was spot on with all essentials provided including a bowl of fresh fruit. Our meals were freshly prepared and delicious and generous portions. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food for our guests, 34 in total was amazing, everything fresh and tasty, with a good selection, including a curry that was very popular and special provision for vegetarians. All in all, excellent on all fronts, both accommodation and catering. Throughly recommended and huge thanks to Paul and his team."

"We met with friends here yesterday for lunch. Sitting in the sun having a drink it is a lovely setting in a beautiful village. We had booked lunch for four people,we didn't imagine we would be the only people in there.The waitress was polite and friendly. We were not offered a menu but had the choice of roast chicken pork or beef no mention of starters. They didn't have any peas for our friend who prefers them to other vegetables .The food was enjoyable but very ordinary. We had the choice of three sweets one of which was ice cream. When two people asked for ice cream they hadn't got enough.What kind of a place runs out of something as simple as that. We thought it was over priced for what we got.Would not recommend it based on this experience. Meg"

"I will not eat Chinese food from any other restaurant again. Lee's Cottage is the best I have had in years. The food is always hot, tasty, and enjoyable. I have tried other Chinese restaurants nearby and theirs is bland in comparison. Lee's Cottage makes the best prawn toast I have ever had. I would give them 10 stars if I could."

"Heard there was a new chef so was excited to try out. Was welcomed by a very friendly lady, offered drinks and was shown to our table in a very nice area of the pub. Had been to the pub before under the old landlords so it was a nice surprise to see all of the changes! Was well looked after by a lovely young lady. Was made awear when order was taken that there would be a wait due to a large party that was about to served, but didn’t realise this would be 40 minutes for starters. When the pate arrived it was runny and more of a cream consistency, was very disappointed. Apologies were made and was told the chef was awear, confused as to why it was served? Mains were the same waiting time, if not longer. Mains were okay but could’ve done better myself. Was offered desserts but after looking at the menu didn’t think the price was justified for the waiting time. In my opinion, the size of them compared to the price was very unreasonable we happened to see a few that came out and weren’t impressed. It was highly advertised about the new chef, but it was obvious that he couldn’t cope with the amount of people and the standard of food. It was quite clear to see that the three members of staff were under a lot of stress but they still remained professional and we’re all very attentive to everyone. May return in a couple of months when the chef is in the swing of things."

"Having booked accommodation direct with them I requested an evening meal and breakfast as it would save going out to find somewhere after a very long days work. On arrival at 1900hrs, which was the time I had agreed, I was informed that the chef had gone off for the evening and that there maybe a very limited menu. I ended up with ham, egg and overly salted chips which were inedible and that was it. No choice of desert as the manager had gone out to walk her dog and the only person left was the bar person. The room was clean but I was surprised that there were no toiletries for the shower, the room door did not fit properly and that you could look between the door frame and the door. Also the sound proofing between the rooms was not far off non existent as was proved by my neighbours turning on their television late in the evening. Thankfully, I had put in a 19 hour day and was too tired to care. Breakfast was greeted by the chef wearing a Puffa jacket, most probably the same one he had on to come to work, and I ordered Full English with orange juice and coffee. The orange juice still hasn’t arrived and it is now two days since I left there. The bake beans had clearly been reheated but on the plus side the sausages and bacon were excellent. It’s was a good job that I was in a hurry as my nights accommodation was quoted at £65-00 plus extras evening meal, breakfast and 1 Pint of beer), however on rechecking the receipts it has been charged at £75-00. On the plus side the manager was very pleasant and Benny the dog very friendly. Would I stay again? Definitely Not…"

"We are due to move in to the village so thought we’d try the pub.Easy to book, let us to the table early. Good choice of drinks and friendly landlord.Can recommend hunters chicken and the rigatoni. Fast service and good quality ingredients. Our dog was made welcome and the land lady bought him treats.It took us ten minutes to get from our table to the car as so many friendly people were talking.Thank you for the delicious food- we can’t wait to come back."

"I had lunch today with a guest at The Courtyard Cafe in Brackley, a charming ancient town with great character. The cafe is located near the eighteenth century Town Hall in a former stable yard area. The stone arch nearby has been recently restored. I highly recommend this cafe for coffee, breakfast, or lunch. It has a lovely setting with outdoor seating, tasteful interior decoration, excellent food, and friendly staff. Please support this independent small business and spread the word to others who may enjoy it as well."
