"Amazing! No words can say how brilliant is this hotel. Old fashioned standards, quality, professional and friendly approach have returned. Very rarely found nowadays. On check in you are personally shown to your room. Incredible choices for breakfast .. NOT buffet style but a menu, and freshly cooked with local fayre. Joy!!! Everything done with a smile from the team. The attention to detail, the character of the property and the mission for providing top quality has been accomplished 100% Rooms: Lovely large bedroom . Huge bed, spotlessly clean. Brilliant decor to sympathetically address the character of a room in a historic building . .. throughout the hotel, the standard of decor, cleanliness etc is exemplary"

"My husband and I popped in here on a brief stop over in Crewkerne as it was just over the road from our hotel. Up the alley way at the side of the bar they had a pop-up cocktail bar and were playing music. There was also a nice touch of a juke box in a phone box. We sat inside, it was quite dark but this made it cosy. It seemed to have a steady trade all night as we propped up the bar chatting for a while. The bar staff seemed polite and friendly and even when my husband complained about the taste of the cider they changed it with no fuss and said they’d had a problem with the barrel but they thought it had been fixed. They took the cider off straight away. Lovely little find, that we would go to again."

"Never had such a choice of dishes anywhere. Fast service. Staff very friendly. Always busy. Had lasagna beef with salad and garlic bread, good price and very filling. Change to our favourite venison stew, which is excellent. Pub does not open until midday, don’t know why. They also have Motel attached to the pub. Not exactly our local but worth travelling to . Just a bit squashed tables, but you can’t have it all"

"I would have rated this restaurant a 3.5 because I feel a 4 is a bit generous. We arrived shortly after they opened and requested to wait before ordering as the restaurant was not very busy, but we were told we had to order right away. Despite expecting to spend a few hours enjoying our Sunday roast, our tables were cleared and we were presented with the bill within 40 minutes. It felt rushed and lacked the relaxing atmosphere we had hoped for. However, the view outside was still great and the roast itself was delicious."

"So our first time here, and learnt that it’s new owners only took over 4 weeks ago. My wife and I both opted for the cheese burgers. A simple option but one that can either be some well or be a total failure. Glad to report that these were very very good cheese burgers, Good quality burger cooked with a really good char resulting in a great burger Definitely recommend. We will also plan a return soon and try a Sunday lunch. Good beer and wine, service attentive and seating comfortable. In summary a good start for the new owners."

"Myself and my partner were staying in the area this weekend and thoroughly W joyed our meal. We were recommended this place by some locals and thought we would give it a try. Being people who very much enjoy a curry we were not sure what to expect from a small place out in rural Somerset and we were so surprised! We loved every mouthful and the prices were reasonable. Will definitely be going back when next in the area."

"Stayed here for 1 night on the way to Cornwall. Room was lovely, spacious and clean ,as was the ensuite. We had tea, coffee and biscuits aswel as toletries in the en suite. It followed all covid 19 rules and provided hand gel and wipes in the...room. Breakfast was included in the price, cereals, juice and you could choose what you wanted for the cooked selection. Bring a pub it also did evening meals, had a nice selection with very generous portion sizes. A lovely, welcoming place to stay and hope to return."

"The evening before Mothers day our two daughters treated us all to a meal at The Hollies Restaurant. I had driven past the restaurant countless times but had never considered eating there before. The restaurant is in a very old building that has been very tastefully converted and beautifully decorated, all the staff were very friendly and informative helping us with the menu and informing us of the progress of our meal in the kitchen. The food was very nicely presented and tasted wonderful. There was almost too much on the extensive menu to choose from looks we'll be going back several times from now on until I've eaten my way through the menu!.Given the lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, the great staff and lovely food the prices are very reasonable."

"What a great recommendation from a work colleague!! Pizza, Pasta, Calzones Fresh fish dishes and with the option for GF and DF. Lots of Veggie options too. Sorry didn't pay too much attention to any vegan options. We had meatballs and Buffalo mozzarella salad to start. The lasagna -tasted good but lacking meat, lots of layers of pasta though. Vegetarian pizza and a meat feast pizza. Thin based and lots of flavour. Francesco is a lovely host, welcoming and informative on the menu options. Nice, quirky cafe for those warm sunny evenings or a pop on by for lunch. We will be back. Oooo beer on draught for those who do. We will return."

"when I read reviews, I am often staggered by the difference in the experiences that people have made of the same place. we visited the bull on Saturday night with something contempt after reading a few of the a star comments. we were greeted cordially and enthusiastically by bar staff and helped in our selection of drinks. we decided to have a meal. we started by serving the most delicious creamy garlic mushrooms on garlic brotfinger. for our main courses I decided for scampi and my wife for the broken fish. both meal times were served with very tasty skin on chips as well as the best homemade tartaric acid sauce I ever had. the service was fast, efficient and friendly and we had a really pleasant time. I hope their experience is as good as ours when they decide to visit this excellent pub."

"If you find yourself in this area you could not do better than visit this pearl . Food was marvellous better than some very high class eatery's we received a very warm welcome from the owner Mike Dandy and his staff.. Mike is happy to...banter with you and make you feel at home. With so many of the West Countries Pubs closing I must tell you this one is well worth supporting and treasuring."

"normally a family lover, but our evening was a great departure from beginning to end! that should be a celebration for my motherbirth day. starter that we had missed, and we were told that we had to wait when they were busy with taking, but they could serve them with our main! the half of the main came then minutes later the rest came to which my daughter pizza was not cooked it was only diligent and fat, so after she came back a bowl chips for her that were not so inedible cooked, she was starving no starter or pornstars for her! the staff was quite rude and made us like a hindrance, not the night we had expected! Yes, we were a big party, but had all pre-ordered our meals, as not really sure how they worked so badly! a coworker even commented another kitchen hahn on huge let bad staff and bad eating!"

"We chose Something Else as a midpoint for friends to meet, reviews suggested it would be good but lunch exceeded expectations. We both had haddock, chips and mushy peas. Wonderfully light batter on fresh haddock, brilliant chips and excellent home steeped mushy peas. Our waitress Tory was charming and efficient, the upstairs restaurant is very welcoming and a really nice place to be. If only we lived closer."

"My son and I were in the area staying at the local travelodge for 2 nights so got a delivery on our second night. So glad we did! We picked up a menu earlier in the day and asked Imran while there if we could have a delivery for about 9pm so he took our order there and then as we knew what we wanted. (This was about 5pm after we watched Wincaton FC nearby) He said will have it with us for 9pm. Bang in 9pm it arrived! Great service! We had a couple of their specials (nehari chicken and Bengal flame lamb) A couple of Palau rice , saag aloo, okra and a peshwari naan. The curries where amazing!! Lamb was lovely and tender. All turned up lovely and hot Great sized portions. Decent prices! Definitely recommend and Definitely have again if in the area!!!"

"Today I held a baby shower cream tea at Union street for my friend, we held it at US because of our long standing relationship with our family. We felt is was a trustworthy and reliable place that would give the best possible experience to our soon to be baby mumma. Unfortunately this hasn’t turned out to be the case. I spoke with you/your staff 4 times prior to today regarding all of the arrangements and at no point was I told of any cancellation policy or terms of use of your services nor did I sign anything. I called up on the day when I was informed that 3 of the 20 people who had RSVP to the event could no longer attend. At that point I was thanked for letting US know and that was that. I did this out of common courtesy. Everyone paid for themselves as they left and the Mum to be was the last to leave (understandably as she was thanking everyone for coming) when she went to pay for her cream tea she was also charged for the 3 cream tea’s that we informed you were no longer needed earlier on in the day. I have tried to talk to the manager with regards to the situation and have not been met with the customer service that my family is used to and would expect from such an establishment. We are all extremely shocked by the situation and cannot get out heads around it. If you had previously informed us of the t&c’s we would understand and you/your staff had plenty of opportunity to let me know that i would still need to pay for the cream tea’s in which case I would have gladly done so and asked for them to be boxed up ready for us to take home. If we were having to still pay for the 3 that were no longer coming, why did we not have them at our table for us to enjoy? Or given to us as we left to take for the 3 guests that couldn't come seeing as it was already made up? As I was told by the manager that this food had already been made up, hence having to pay £113 extra! I am saddened that this has happened as we have never experienced anything like this at US before. Having spoken to the manager I was made to feel like this is my fault as I didn't give 24 hour notice and never received an apology for the lack of communication and vital information missed from the staff at US, and this negligence from the staff has cost us £113, which would have been avoided if staff had made me aware of their 24 hour rule. We were having a lovely time until this happened and it's put a real dampener on my friends special day. This would have been a completely different review if this situation was handled better."

"This wasn't an easy place to spot, it didn't really stand out in the street. It was a bit of a guess coming in here, but I'm glad we did. All four of us had a really delicious lunch. Three of us had sandwiches, which were generous, and came with a nice salad and crisps. (Granary) bread was tasty. I had falafel sandwich; the falafels tasted home made. One person had a falafal cum mixed salad bowl. It looked so interesting and delicious home made coleslaw, couscous salad, rice salad, variety of other ingredients, plus falafels of course. Just as well I never saw the sweet treats before I went to pay. Such a shame I'm on holiday and have no opportunity to come back!! The staff were polite and friendly."

"We decided to revisit the bakehouse after having dined there some time ago, and we frequent the neighboring Brewers Arms frequently. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and we were promptly seated at our table. The set menu for Valentine's Day was a good selection in our opinion. I enjoyed a generously portioned and well-presented starter that was very tasty. I chose the 5 spiced duck served on a potato cake, while my wife opted for the rack of lamb, both of which came with a good variety of vegetables. The portions were generous and delicious. We were served additional drinks before dessert. I chose the cheese board (which was actually served on a board!) while my wife had a strawberry-based dessert that she found delightful. The cheese board was ample and delicious. I would like to express my thanks and congratulations to Nikki and her staff for their attention to detail and overall good value for money. It was a delightful evening in a wonderful setting."

"What a great find. Menu for carnivores, like me, is really good and veggies, like my wife, get a good look in too. My scallop pad Thai was a delight. I was fully expecting rubbery scallops, but no. They melted in the mouth and the blend of spices was excellent. I want the secret of that mix. Atmosphere is great with traditional decor. We felt quite young as the Over Stratton over 85s group was in. One actually apologised about the noise they had been making as they all have hearing problems. Staff very pleasant too. Just one very very very small thing though. You really don't have to bless me every time you visit the table. We will definitely be back."

"We spent two nights here with our son in law and daughter. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the included continental breakfast was generous. We opted for an optional cooked breakfast on our final morning which was delicious. We dined in the hotel for both nights of our stay and the menu and specials were sampled. We all enjoyed our meals which were piping hot, well cooked and imaginatively presented. The serving staff were pleasant, attentive and helpful and the landlord and landlady were very hospitable and hard working. The ambience in the pub was friendly and lively. We would definitely recommend and hope to stay again in the future."
