"We came here as my fiance had a voucher from a birthday present. We already had horrible service at the Prezzo on North Bridge in Edinburgh (which, is now ironically closed but thought we 'd give this one a try. Wish we hadn 't bothered. We walked in and were told three times that someone would be with us, even though they proceeded to stand in front of us and chat away to themselves. It wasn 't busy. There was a table at the back, in the dark, on it 's own that my fiance had already pointed out and said hope we don 't get sat there . Low and behold we get taken over (eventually to this table at the back, at which point my fiance politely asked if we could be seated somewhere/anywhere else (there must have been at least 20 other empty tables at which point the host (I think his name was Stewart presume he was the host as he wasn 't wearing uniform? refused to seat us anywhere else as this was in his area . We sat down, pee 'd off but whatever. Not a moment has gone by and the same host then proceeded to sit at least three other couples that came in after us in the other tables. Alrighty then! We ordered our food and drinks and this host couldn 't have tried less to make us feel welcome. He rushed us at every point (again, the place was not busy, it was a Monday night and would quite happily chat to the kitchen staff while literally stood at our table. Felt very unwelcome throughout and felt like we were sat in the staff room. You couldn 't pay me to go back there. If you 're looking for good service, don 't bother coming here. There 's plenty of places to eat in Livingston that would give you miles better service without having to try and would appreciate your custom."

"The Howden Arts Centre is a great place to go for coffee and freshly made scones, Artisan cheesecake, breakfast rolls (and gorgeous pancakes) or a pre theatre meal. It is a Council run facility where the staff work tirelessly to deliver an excellent service on very tight budgets. The staff certainly make the venue they are polite and always welcome me personally. It is nice to feel welcomed and recognised. Service is always very good and problems are dealt with promptly.I recently attended a brilliant show about the personal experiences of a waitress by Mary Gapinsky. For £18 I would have been happy with just the show but included in the ticket price was a fantastic meal and coffee. I would have been happy with a bag of crisps for the price. Following the event I was delighted to receive an email from the manager asking me for feedback and inviting me to raise any concerns with them directly if there were issues (thank you for the opportunity) and also asking me to post if I had a good time. Bearing in mind people only tend to post if they had a bad time I decided it was only fair to the centre and the staff to post about my great experience on the evening and of my 5 years of visits. The 2 courses were served quickly and allowed plenty of time to eat the meal, have a coffee, get a drink and have a 5 minute comfort break before the performance. The food was plentifuy, freshly made, beautifully presented and had a great mixture of wonderful flavours throughout. The vegetables and baby new potatoes were cooked perfectly as was the large chicken fillet stuffed with haggis topped with a great whiskey sauce. All in all a wonderful array of flavours at a bargain price, beautifully and professionally presented. I have always had good service and good quality breakfasts, lunches and evening meals. This restaurant is a prize find in Livingston and I will certainly continue to support it with my business."
