"from the warm white inviting lights and shaded chandeliers, leather and wood decoration, high quality tasty foods and friendly staff I would recommend this place to eat. first we were 20 minutes too late for our bills booking pulling two tired children along in our party. we had special nutritional requirements and had to be served quickly to make our theatre show on time after dinner. nothing was too much for this quality restaurant team. steak was in the mouth melting, children took Doggy bags of eating that really went well in the theater, even us a totally faux smug parent moment when other parents commented in the pantomime how well we prepare for our children in the interval. ha. thanks bills."

"What a little gem of Ripley it is! We went for an afternoon walk today and fancied a little stop on the way back. And what a treat this pub was We only had a drink each and a few nibbles but we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Food was good quality and presented well. Homemade humus was yummy and polenta chips were a perfect combination of soft and crunchy! Phoebe and James looked after us and made us feel very welcome, including Ted, our dog, who got some water, a treat and, of course, attention Thank you, guys! We'll definitely be back!"

"Unfortunately not a great experience. The starters came out pretty quickly and were thought to be lovely. However the mains took approx 1 hour 50 minutes from the time we sat down. We always exercise patience these days and fully appreciate that when food is cooked from scratch it takes longer. The restaurant was only half full however and there appeared to be lots of staff. I think there was cream on my fish which I don’t like, I did not notice cream mentioned on the menu, also the potato fondant wasn’t cooked properly. My son had to order potatoes with his chicken as this didn’t come with any. The staff were very bad at letting us know what the delay was all about. It did start to irk a bit when people having afternoon tea were getting fed before out lunch turned up. It is a lovely restaurant though! Sadly we won’t be back."

"On arriving noticed their covid compliancy was rubbish as it seemed to be up to the customers whether they wanted to to wear masks. Half the staff were wearing masks across their mouths but not their noses. Took ages to get a drink. When my vegetarian platter arrived I bit into my vegetable samosa to find meat! Obviously called a member of staff over to complain and they didn't seem to see the problem but said they would replace. When they finally exchanged we were asked if the manager had been over but he hadn't bothered! I had gone off my food at this point. No apology at all! Will not be going back and will be warning all of my friends especially the vegetarian ones."

"We stayed last night and had a beautiful room clean warm and very spacious with great parking . However we went into the resturant which was full. There was a very full table of 10 or more to our left . They still hadn't had their full courses and were still waiting after 2 hours . We were waiting for a cookie to arrive with our hot drink but no one knew they were out of stock except for the off duty cook Ellie who came to rescue with chocolate brownie and saved the day . Glasses everywhere over the bar it appeared true kaos. Dishes everywhere also No direction organising waiting staff , even though they were rushed off their feet no one appeared to be in charge . Waiting staff doing their best I went to the loo on my way out only to hear more complaints of people waiting an hour for food only to be told they had run out of pies. I would highly recommend accommodation and breakfast made by Ellie but would avoid eating here of an evening atm . Please Managers sort it out!! "We arrived around 7pm while only 3 tables were seated, one had already finished and the second one were eating and third one about to finish. We were seated immediately in a table in the middle of this small croud and without socially distancing table. Our order was taken in a reasonable time considering that only one waitress was working but then we waited 26 minutes for the first dish tempura) to arrive to our table. We were served by the female owner, but we noticed that they got us a vegetable tempura when we ordered prawn tempura. When we mentioned this the dish was taken from our table and she stormed out. 30 seconds later our waitress came to state that we did order indeed the vegetable tempura in a quite rude manner. We insisted that we ordered the prawn tempura and not vegetable one and she left no apologies or anything like that). Couple of minutes later they got us the prawn tempura which was really oily and while the waitress was trying to place the dish in the table in a quite abrupt manner she bumped on my shoulder and almost dropped the entire plate she apologised and left the table. Our second dish was a vegetable udon which to be honest was quite gross with a dominant flavour of god knows what, I never tryed something awful like that. My partner had less than a 1/4 of the dish but I was too hungry and it was still a bit edible so I ate mine and helped with her plate. We were about to leave due to the poor service and hideous food but it was my birthday so after thinking for a while we decided to try a bit of sushi. We were waiting to ask the menus again while our waitress was serving other tables they had a new table of 6 and another couple while the rest tables mentioned at the begging left) while this was happening the female owner was missing and the male owner was at the till playing solitaire yes we could see him from our table in a certain angle) We got the sushi plates but they removed the soya dishes and no new was brought so we ended up using a large dish that we had in the table for our napkin and chopsticks. The first sushi plate was looking horrendous with a spicy orangey sauce on top, the second one looked better but it was quite gross with those fish eggs hanging around and the warmish rice, still edible both of them but even the sushi from Tesco is way better. In this whole time no one approached our table to ask a feedback for our food. So we reached a point that we didn 't want to order dessert or anything just pay and leave. Not to mention that there was no QR code available for NHS track and tracke, neither they took any contact information from us"

"Terrible dishonest. They sent us an incorrect order and after waiting over 2 hours for the correct order which never arrived they offered us a replacement meal for another date. We were strung along for 2 hours being told the correct order is on the way. It wasn 't. never arrived as it was never cooked. We paid in full for food which we didn 't receive. We received someone else 's order which was half the amount of our order and not eveb items we actually choose or enjoy. I called back to order the replacement meal which sadly never materialised. They denied knowledge of it and made an excuse of there was a change in management. At the time they told me they wrote it in their diary and it would be honoured so I shouldn 't worry.. Whilst I was on the phone to them they assumed they had muted me and decided to speak in their language which I understood They were quite offensive derogatory. just get rid of her we have other customers calling with orders and tell her there is a change of management. Offer her 20% off her next order over £50 if she doesn 't accept it Just hang up When I enlightened them I heard every word repeated it back to them they hung up.. Disgraceful."

"We had a thoroughly enjoyable midweek evening meal at this restaurant. We received excellent service from the moment we arrived until we left. The clean plates at the end of our meal indicated that we truly enjoyed our menu choices of Cod and Sea Bass, followed by a mini dessert and a hot drink. We were the last customers to leave the restaurant."

"Went for a bite to eat and drinks. Cocktails 2 for 1! Vibrant atmosphere music playing, Xmas decorations and lighting up making it really festive and cosy. We liked thisfriendly staff food served quickly. Ordered chicken burger and fries and Thai curry with chicken as a topper, will say although very tasty the grilled chicken piece would have presented better on the plate if it was cut into strips and served on the plate, rather than added as a big piece for one to try and cut through! Just an observation but still tasty! The halluomi fries and calamari was also tasty. Would go again thanks."

"ABSOLUTE DISGUSTING FOOD, SERVICE and its got a 0* food hygiene rating yes ZERO! To start when we phoned to book table was put on hold for 5 mins then we asked to book a table n was rudely Told yes just come in n hung up n when we arrived we were Rudely ask if we had a booking?? we looked online at the restaurant’s website said it said £19.80 all u can eat when arrived the menu said £25.90 we questioned it and was told that’s price u want to eat? And the food was all Mostly disgusting some was inedible, the service was slow, rude and not friendly at all! and to top it off we checked their food hygiene rating n it was a ZERO, yes a ZERO we politely said at end of meal that the food was disgusting and poor service then showed them the Zero food hygiene rating saying this is unacceptable n they rudely just pulled card reader out n took my card off table n did the contactless payment n walked off n no thank you n got disgusting looks from all staff on way out, both of us preciously working in pubs/restaurant we were disgusted how we were treated and how they think it’s acceptable to treat customers this way"

"This cafe used to be a favorite spot for me and my son to enjoy an afternoon drink and cake. However, our visit yesterday was quite disappointing. We arrived around 4pm, with the cafe closing at 5pm. It took a while for us to be greeted and even longer for our order to be taken, despite being only a cold drink and a cake. We were seated right by the counter, yet it took 20 minutes for our order to arrive. To make matters worse, someone interrupted us to ask for payment at 5:35, while we were in the middle of a game. The service was terrible, despite the lack of customers. Additionally, one of the older staff members was overheard being rude about a younger colleague. The experience was so unpleasant that I have no desire to return, especially considering the high prices. It's a shame, as I used to enjoy this place."

"My experience at this restaurant was terrible. I placed an order through the Just Eat app and tried to use a £10 voucher that Just Eat had given me. However, when the owner called me back, they said I couldn't use the voucher and demanded an extra £5 from the driver. I tried to explain that the voucher was provided by Just Eat and that they should contact them, but the owner continued to be rude and yell at me over the phone. I will not be ordering from this place again and I recommend that others avoid it as well. Delivery service was poor, and the atmosphere was unpleasant. The cost per person was around £20-30. The food, service, and atmosphere all received a rating of 1 out of 5."

"Worst service I have ever experienced in my life... Firstly I found a hair in my food, no biggie, these things happen, but, when I finally got the waitor who was also the manager's attention, he accused me of putting a hair in my food!!!...Then when it came to paying, all my friends paid up and then it got to me, where I rightly refused to pay for my food, and the manager got very, infact extremely agressive, stepping up to me getting in my face (to point at which I wasn't sure if he was about to get physical), and raising his voice telling us never to come back, which I can happily say i wont be and strongly reccomend no one else does either."

"We visited this charming restaurant near the train station while staying in the area overnight. Its exterior may not be impressive, but once inside, the food is exceptional. We tried a set menu with crispy aromatic duck, sweet-and-sour chicken, Hong Kong-style beef with spring onions and ginger, and special fried rice. We also added crispy prawn dumplings and chicken satay skewers. Despite the distance from our home, we are confident this will become our favorite Chinese restaurant. The prices are great, and you can bring your own drinks for a small corkage fee. We will definitely return soon."

"I have been to East West Restaurant many times and have always received good service in enjoyable surroundings. We have also had takeaways delivered on numerous occasions. I had booked a table for three some days in advance but when we arrived there on September there were no tables laid up, two waiters were on duty and the brown Formica tables gave the appearance of a roadside cafe! No table cloths, no silver no table decoration and definitely no atmosphere! The service was poor, both waiters were more interested in their mobile phones than keeping us happy. There was only one other table occupied so it wasn’t busy. The general appearance of the place had deteriorated, for example there was an electrical plug at the entrance just hanging off the wall, that has to be dangerous. it looked run down. I am sad to have to write this report because this has always been on of my favourite places to eat. The food when we eventually got served was good but the the evening was not a success."

"I regularly get fish and chips here and they are really delicious. Fish is cooked to order so you need to be prepared to wait but it s never greasy and the batter is crispy, just as it should be. (a vast improvement on how...it used to be under previous ownership) Staff are very welcoming and friendly too"

"Here is a detailed review. I like indian/pak foods and frequently visit different similar restaurants. I had high expectations from the place but felt extreme disappointment. Here are some of the reasons: -Prices were too high and it could be fine considering the location but taste doesn’t reflect the price at all. Definitely 2/5 in pricing when compare to taste. -Environment was just okay 3/5 but didn’t feel really welcoming feeling. -The worst thing about the place was the quantity of the food they serve and that is 1/5. My bill was nearly £50 and that was for the food and we were two people only (me and my wife). We both usually get full in normal portions and always have to pack the remaining food whenever we go but this time we came back and had another dinner from home. -Taste was just okay for me personally 3/5 but there are restaurants offering far better taste, better prices and better quantity. -Staff was fine and helpful so 4/5 for that."

"Well where to start we were a family group of 9, 5 adults and 4 children from 2-7 years of age. We wanted to book a table for 7pm for an evening meal but was told it would have to be 6:30 as the restaurant was busy later not surprising as it was easter weekend. We came in for 6:30 but the girl who was seating people started to ask if we had booked and then the phone rang and said she had to answer it and ignored us for the next 5 minutes then she hung up and said derogatory coments about the person on the other end of the phone. Then she could not find our booking which we had paid for in advance but finaly got seated at 7 pm our order for drinks and food were taken in reasonable time but we had to wait for over 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive and over 30 minutes for our starters to arrive the mains took another 30 minutes after we had finished our starters and the children were getting restless and tired the mains finaly arrived and of the 5 adult meals only 1 was edible and 1 child meal was forgoten completly and had to be asked for again. After being in the being in the restaurant for over 2 hours we still had not recived our desserts and the childen were so tired we had to leave I complained to the person in charge who did not even have the grace to reply or apologise and we were never asked if our meals were ok. We thought breakfast could not possibly be as bad but how wrong were we. Once again we had to wait for over 30 minutes to be seated even though there were plenty of free tables just no staff to clear or reset them only 1 young lad who was running around like a headless chicken trying to do his best for just over £5 per hour he was a credit to an otherwise disgrafull restaurant . It was a buffy style breakfast help yourself but most things were never avaliable at the same time and shortage of plates bowls spoons etc. Needless to say we will never use this restaurant again its the worst I have ever been in."
