"Already during the first study of the classic 'Asterix and Cleopatra' in the tender childhood, the author developed a permanent... That's bullshit! Who cares? Once again: The New Museum in Berlin was built in the years 1841 to 1859 according to plans by the Schinkel student F.A. Stüler, to which we also owe the Musentempel (see Alte Nationalgalerie). His construction was commissioned by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, because the Old Museum no longer provided enough space for the growing art treasures, especially the Egyptian collection. The Antiquities and Ethnographic Collection follow. After considerable war-related destructions and a longer twilight condition, it was rebuilt gently to boldly modernise from 2003 under the leadership of British architect David Chipperfield. In 2009 there was a new opening involving the Egyptian Museum, temporarily outsourced to Charlottenburg. The house is one of the architectural highlights of the Museum Island. Some 'more than 25' means that on the website, differently designed halls group around the two courtyards of the house on 3 levels. The transition between the individual parts of the collection sometimes seems somewhat surprising and in the non-Egyptian part a little like 'something'. But I think I have to go there again with more time to better appreciate the (quote website) 'collective presentation of testimonies of material cultures...'. The lighting situation in some places is also somewhat unfavorable to photograph where it is allowed. This, however, does not deteriorate from the artistic pleasure as such. Contents: The New Museum covers two major topics: the pre- and early history incl. Antique collection and ancient Egypt. On the ground floor some important parts of the trojan collection Heinrich Schliemanns are exhibited, followed by well represented and strongly early Greek influenced old Cyprus. On the second level we find Roman statues, the Germanic Northern Barbarians, as well as exhibits on the international migration and the early Middle Ages. In the truest sense, the long, pointed, bronze-time Berlin gold hat protrudes from the European early history. Greater prominence in the house, both spatially and from the exhibits, enjoys the Pharaoh kingdom. Statues, jewelry, wall reliefs and the impressive papyrus collection of the house cover the complete time frame from the Old Reich to the Roman province of Aegyptus. The 2500 exhibits in this regard are distributed over all three museum levels. Some sarcophagus and statues are exhibited in the Egyptian court, followed by the dark guard and several small statues as well as some murals. At the second level, the workshop of the artist and sculptor Thutmosis is first addressed, very clearly also on the basis of some semi-finished busts. Its most famous work, which can certainly be expected to be the top of the entire art history, is located in the adjacent North Dome Hall. Voilà ! Even the French travel group, which had previously been drawn quite vividly by the healed halls, falls in supreme silence, in view of perfection, or better: magic of a single exhibit, which alone is worth this journey to Berlin. (apart from the Golocal meeting, of course) Who is able to take a short look, learns from the prose exhibition description, which is overthrowing in this context: 'Büste der Nofretete. Origin Amarna. limestone, merciful stucco, rock crystal, wax. Photographing is still strictly forbidden on demand. So some (of course in vain) tried and tried to put all this vision into words. As in the following post-Egyptian hymn of the Sirihef Thomestetheb, who has remained completely unknown in specialist circles: The beautiful is ' so is your name you live now in Berlin high-wellgebor a lady Bin unfortunately only from flesh and blood also not related to King Tut So even in heaven we are hardly longing in our eyes You short time you live as art in eternity From Thutmosis 'kund 'nature' you are the most beautiful woman in the world (souleufz) Where was I? Oh, yes. Of course, I still tried on the basis of the very powerful tele optics of my Nikon Coolpix S9100. First from the side room, then almost from the end of the nioboid hall. But the hard guards, of course, aren't stupider than me, and they're always in the right direction. With seriousness at least, and not something ugly grinning. Nevertheless, 'Stirn des Museums Schergen' is of course not an almost adequate motif compared to the beautiful queen. Friendship, people, it was worth trying. And so, with incomplete photo yield, I leave this very great institute with photographable Nofretete Fan cards from the Museum Shop, with the intention of returning soon. Opening hours daily from 10:00 to 18:00, Thursday until 20:00. There are regular guided tours on various topics on offer. Admission is 12 euros, reduced 6 euros. The so-called section ticket for all collections of the Museum Island, which is for 18 euros, is worth 9 euros. If the term 'flight program' somewhere has a meaning on the New Museum, it meets completely. with particularly excellent consideration, Sir Thomas"

I feel the exhibition value of the New Museum is not very high. The exhibition is unfolding, it is thrown through the most diverse times and cultures and ultimately does not even know what piece of exhibition belongs to what era. A lot more interesting is the museum's architecture, which is really unique and makes the museum worth visiting.

Amazing collection of historical Egyptian, Roman and Greek artefacts. Of course the bust of Nefertiti is the highlight and spectacular to see in reality (but no photos allowed). Although can’t help but feel that these treasures should be returned to the places and people from whom they were taken, or at least some of the tourism value €€€ shared back to them… Visualizza piatti

The first thing that catches your eye as you go inside is the vast space and the architectural style which is so different then many other museums in Europe. It had good facilities like a cloak room so you do not have to carry your stuff and can be free while enjoying the displays. They also have self guided audio tour which is included in ticket and is a great thing to avail. It is a great place to learn about Egyptian history and culture. My son who is 8 years also enjoyed this museum a lot. The best artifact was the golden hat, truely a majestic ancient piece of workmanship and history plus mysteries of astronomy. And do not miss their gift shop to see amazing collection of books and uniq...

We decided to visit museum island at the first Sunday of the month so the tickets were free. We couldn’t find tickets online so we came right at the spot and they have tickets to give it to us. You need around two hours to visit whole museum if you don’t take audio guide. If you do take audio guide, you will need a lot of more time. some very important pieces of art are held here. Taking photos is allowed almost everywhere. Museum also has some interactive parts so it can be interesting for children. The exhibit that is in this museum. It’s dedicated to Egyptian history period mostly and Roman empire some parts. What was really nice to see is that this museum is in old building, like old cas...

If you want to visit the New Museum, you have to get tickets at the ticket desk, which is further away from the main entrance. In the beginning, the museum makes a good impression. Especially the audio guides are good and free. Unfortunately, I was more and more disappointed by the museum. On the one hand, this is because many exhibits were missing and only one sign pointed out that they were awarded, photographed, etc. and the presentation was not uniform. In some showcases, descriptions and exhibits are numbered, with others missing the numbering, so you have to look for it first. It was also annoying that for my visit the third floor was still in reconstruction and I had overlooked the in... Visualizza piatti

It is a very interesting building in its combination of old and new architecture. But the design of the exhibition is as old-fashioned and boring as I did not experience it in a newer museum, except for some exhibits (Nizza, Golden Hut and 1 room on the 3rd floor). 98% of the exhibits are in their shop windows without further explanations. There is no arrangement in the respective historical everyday life (e.g. an explanation of the use of certain objects). The development of visual processing using modern video technology does not exist. The loaned audio guide did not work at half of the designated stations. Conclusion: certainly from a professional perspective an impressive collection, but...

At the beginning of April, my visit from West Germany wanted to experience the capital museum Flair. See you. The reality was deviated from the plan. At the courtyard between the Old National Gallery, the New Museum and the Pergamon Museum we immediately noticed the long snake that began somewhere in the vaults of the Pergamon Museum. The waiting time was probably in an area that was probably not too high. What now? Our view fell to the entrance of the New Museum, also a museum highlight and there were few people, we decided: Nofretete instead of Pergamonaltar. Our joy ended with security personnel at the door, because the short snake took off the traffic jam in the control of the tickets. A...
