"I am so lucky to live within walking distance of this restaurant. It is a small neighbourhood Italian that punches well above its weight both for food and service. I have tried most things on the menu and have never made a bad choice. Their pizzas are spectacular dough which is tasty, springy and light with a crispy bottom, absolutely perfect for dipping in your friend's spag bol! They make their own secret recipe tomato sauce, which is AMAZING. (Actually it's not a secret recipe at all Raff will happily share how he makes it, but it sounds more intriguing as a secret! They have a daily specials board that includes local seasonal produce in really imaginative dishes. I have gone into the kitchen to watch the chefs making a crab ravioli, moments before I ate it! (It was sublime! Their desserts are too good. They have their regular items such as the tiramisu which melts in the mouth and the Italian ice cream that has real bits of strawberry, pistachio, vanilla seeds and chocolate in it. They also have special desserts that often are just too tempting sticky toffee pudding, Eton mess with mango, interesting cheesecakes etc. The coffee is delicious and just perfect after a scrumptious meal there! The service is lovely and the atmosphere is down to earth, fun and friendly. I would urge you to go if you go on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday you might want to book as it is extremely popular with locals."

"We were invited to the Gantry which is a family run restuarant for Sunday lunch by some old friends. The meal was excellent the perfect Sunday lunch. The restaurant is on 2 levels. As you enter there is a full bar on one side surrounded by a few tables with the main dining areas along with the toilets downstairs. We ate in the conservatory which leads into the outside dining area. We all decided to skip starters and go straight for the Sunday roast options (The restaurant has a full a la carte menu if you dont want a roast dinner). The options were roast beef, roast chicken or roast lamb. 2 of us ordered the roast lamb which was a lamb shank, and the remainder orders the roast beef, 2 thick slices of roast beef served as ordered, 1 rare, and the rest medium and that is exactly how they were served. Although nobody on the table ordered the roast chicken we noticed from other tables that the chicken was served as a whole small roast chicken. The dishes included a large Yorkshire pudding and vegetables cauliflower in a cheese sauce, peas, carrots, potoatoes and brocolli which were all served on the plate. The food was excellent and were very large portions so we were all glad we passed on the starters. A couple of the party had desserts,. I chose the sticky toffee pudding with white chocolate ice cream which was excellent and the perfect end to a large Sunday lunch. Although the restaurant was full the service could not be faulted, helpful, friendly and efficient and there were no long pauses from ordering to when the first course was served. This isn't fine dining but the Gantry offers excellent food at excellent prices and we thoroughly enjoyed eating there ."

"This review sums up some visits made since 5th July 2019. It was on my first visit with a lovely friend Rima Bray that the lovely manager donated what turned out to be the best of eighty raffle prizes I collected in SE London a crowd funder for The Hill Station Community Café in nearby Kitto Rd, the prize was a meal for four, I will never forget your generosity for such an important cause. Although the management has changed the chef has not and so far both meals, fish and chips last year followed by Sunday Roast Pork on 23rd Feb 2020 were both so delicious they should be illegal. The roast just blasted my taste buds, the roasted beetroot was a master touch and those roast tatties my all time fave in 61 years. £14 and good value considering the exceptional quality and generous helping. There is always an excellent vegan option. This delightful pub appeals to me on so many levels, even with the fab old fashioned juke box you can actually hear yourself think and talk, this is ideal place to bring your friends for a shared meal or drinks and conversation. Perfect ambience with open fires in the winter, and a fab outdoor front garden terrace for the summer, coupled with lovely staff, customers and a great range of on tap beers at very reasonable prices, what more could you ask for? There are also three nights of activities including Monday Pub Quiz and Thursday Open Mic which from feedback is a wonderful evening. Most positive that there is a large noticeboard which shares events being held in the local community, and the offer of a FREE function room must surely have appeal for clubs and social groups? If you are reading about this fab pub for the first time, do visit, The Telegraph at The Earl of Derby should not remain the best kept secret in Lewisham!"
