"Tried a Different Indian restaurant in the town for a change. Find you on TripAdvisor, and the reviews were good. They lived up to their name. Staff were very friendly, I had the chicken Premier, and my friend had a selection of vegetarian dishes. Very tasty, and the pickles at the beginning with the poppadoms are very fresh and the red onion chutney was delicious! As I said the staff were really friendly, and went out of their way to make our evening with them the best it could be. The ladies toilet was very clean, and very spacious (have been into some shockingly small toilets in Indian restaurants in the past! . Overall a very good experience, would go back."

Excellent curry. I had a Pathia which came with complimentary rice, making the meal superb value. Thoroughly recommended.

Food was ok, but have since discovered that baloo received a HYGEINE RATING OF ONLY 2 a few months ago. I won't go back to baloo until they achieve a rating of at least 4

Just have to say that we ate here last night and enjoyed the finest Indian food that I’ve tasted for a long time. Thank you guys for a very enjoyable evening. I would recommend Baloo to everyone!

Once again, the accommodating team at Baloos were able to squeeze me in for an unrushed late evening meal, despite me getting there not long before closing time. The food standard was as high as ever.

Really friendly service and excellent food. For the quality, it’s really good value. The vindaloo had potato in, which is great. My mum had the special Balti which was delicious and beautifully presented. Will be coming back next time I’m in town.

Not local, visited on a whim after deciding we fancied a curry after late night Xmas shopping! Standard looking little place but staff were friendly and attentive and the food was superb defo had an edge over your typical curry house. All served piping hot and with lovely fresh garnishes. Even tap water was served ice cold. Would definitely drive the 30mins to eat there again!

As a regular customer, and big fans of the chef at this restaurant, we were shocked at the huge price rise of our bill this week. The food was great and we all expected an increase in cost but think this ought to be reflective of inflation. Our bill was 30% higher than usual! For example, how can they charge £1.50 per popadom when other Indians charge around 75p? The pickle tray was £4, when other restaurants charge £2. Everything else had gone up significantly too. It would be sad if they out priced themselves and lost trade. We will probably go less often as a result and try some other Indian restaurants in the area.

"I had the pleasure of visiting La Terraza Tapas Bar in Upton with my kids, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The ambiance was incredibly cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a family outing. The friendly staff added to the welcoming atmosphere, making us feel right at home. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the tapas selection. The steak with chimichurri sauce was a burst of flavors that left us craving for more, and the Tempura prawns were simply delectable. It's clear that the chefs here take pride in their creations, as every dish we tried was a delightful journey for the taste buds. As a first-time visitor, I was thoroughly impressed by the overall experience, and I can confidently say it won't be our last visit. While the prices leaned slightly towards the expensive side, the quality of the food and the cozy ambiance more than made up for it. La Terraza Tapas Bar strikes the perfect balance between a gourmet dining experience and a comfortable family outing. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant, which is always an important factor for me when choosing a place to dine. All in all, La Terraza Tapas Bar offers a fantastic option for a memorable lunch with family or friends. If you're looking for a place that combines delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and a touch of elegance, this is definitely a spot worth considering. "I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
