"There are at least 3 Biner cafés in different parts of Zermatt, all based on a bakery foundation but with slightly different atmospheres and menus. This review is of the little Biner’s café down by one of the little river crossings (I think the address...is Uferweg 1). So this is not the one near the railway station or the one in the centre of the village. This simple little café by the river is conveniently located between the busy railway and old village areas, and it’s a wonderful place to grab an inexpensive lunch or mid-afternoon snack. The menu is simple but the food is very tasty (their own pastries, breads, soups, pizzas, etc and it’s a good price for Switzerland. There are a few simple tables outside (with gorgeous views of the Matterhorn). Inside, just past the bakery area, there are small café tables. The atmosphere is cozy, with tables fairly close together, but it feels authentic, like a place where locals and workers grab a bite, not just tourists. And, interestingly, although the vibe is homey, there are obvious remnants of the grander European tea-room tradition. For example, some might find the décor of burled wood and matching framed mirrors rather dated, but for me it suggested an elegant history. And, believe it or not, I saw something I’ve only seen years ago in very elegant tea-rooms in large European cities like Salzburg: a shaped rack for holding the old wooden spools that newspapers used to be provided on for customers to read at their leisure while they had their afternoon tea and pastries. (I know: everybody has a tablet or smartphone nowadays for instant news, but I loved seeing this reminder of a less frantic and more gracious past –and at least one of the spools did have a paper on it It seems a popular place and it’s often busy, so don’t expect fancy service, but we’ve eaten lunch and mid-afternoon snacks here a few times (soups, pastas, pastries), and I’ve been impressed by the fact that even an inexpensive cup of tea came with one of their own chocolates on the saucer."

Very good location if you are staying in one of the nearby hotels. But the staff have not been to Charm School yet. Fresh orange juice is very good. Cakes look better than they taste, which is a shame.

classic walliser brote, but also standard baked goods. the award-winning brot is particularly good. also ordered a cake for birthday and it was very good and cheap according to Swiss standards. their Matterhorn chocolates are as good as the others, but also less expensive.

We stopped over here for a quick drink due to the rain, and got a pot of coffee and an affogato. The coffee was decent and the affogato was huge consisting of a generous serving of vanilla ice-cream, whipped cream and coffee with a...biscuit stick. Lovely comfort food. Service was also efficient in spite of the large crowd.

My wife and I had lunch at this café. It was up a flight of stairs over a bakery that was closed. We each had a bowl of soup and a desert. Both of which were very good. Our server was both pleasant and attentive,...she also spoke English. However our little lunch cost 34.40 CHF. Food seemed to be very expensive in Switzerland.

this cafe/bakey was at the end of our road from the hotel and after the ski stuffs get out in the hotel we drove here at 3-4 days during our stay. it is small and does not have an extensive menu, but works as a good...value we recommend the sausage rolls and the tomatensuppe both were very good. friendly staff and tolerant children. there are also some excellent pastries that are also picked up! Zermatt restaurants are expensive! If you want to find a place that offers a more affordable dining menu, this is a good one. They have a breakfast, lunch and evening menu including a nice soup selection. The prices are lower than most of the Zermatt...restaurants, the food is good and the atmosphere is very nice. The location is on a side street, so it is easy to miss, but is worth the effort of looking for it.

We stopped by at this bakery during an exploratory walk and wanted something quick and affordable as a lunch. Most Zermatt restaurants tend to be very slow in service and are expensive as well. However, Biner turned out to be a full cafe and not...just a bakery shop. They have a very good menu with plenty of choices among Sandwiches, soup, salad, crepe and breakfast aka brunch options. The staff is very friendly and quick in terms of attending to the guests, taking orders, and making recommendations. We had their Lasagna Bolonese and a Large Breakfast. Lasagna was very delicious and freshly prepared. Breakfast items included local ham and cheese, with a variety of breads, the best being the...

"Feel this special Omnia Spirit...
