"Having read the reviews I was expecting great things out of this restaurant but was very disappointed on several counts but let's start with the good point. First I really appreciated that the waitress told me the wine I had ordered was a sweet wine which I was happy to change to a dry one. Second, the food did have great flavours and was well presented. The bad points, we arrived and were then served an amuse-bouche but did not have anything to drink because they hadn't taken our drinks order. Next, the risotto was served with a pouched egg but mine still had the egg white running and my wife's was over cooked. What annoyed me most was the waitress stated when I told her that "it was cooked like this", what one over cooked and one under cooked. Her attitude was not one of customer service and I wasn't complaining as I only left the egg. Next we had Tuna and for the first time in my life it was cook through, maybe that is the way they do it! Sorry but this place did not live up to its Michelin star"

Great food presented and served with creativuty. Overall not a cheap one but definitely worth it. Local food in a modern way. Great choice of wines. Strongly advised!

Top quality food with attentive service , A hidden gem in this small French city . The food was slightly unusual and I wasn't sure if it would work but the flavours were good for us . Visualizza piatti

We had a fantastic meal here. Quality inventive French and international cuisine. Lots of lovely 'extras' made it feel very special. Friendly and informative staff. Seriously recommend

Even if you you feel that the chef is doing his best, the customer will not feel comfortable in a place where they do not say hello when enter, do not take your coat (you have to keep in behind your chair) and where the lady owner seems to have an attitude with the people she does not know...

This restaurant is by far one of the best I have experienced for a long, long time. The food is amazing, the service fantastic, and you are able to watch your food being prepared making it an extremely personal experience! If staying in Castres, put this place as a priority to come and eat, you will not be disappointed! Visualizza piatti

The food is good and the restaurant tries very hard to be inventive - my wife and I felt too hard. For us, the flavors were unusual but not that pleasant. Inventiveness for its own sake doesn't impress us - it's the flavor that counts: simple and delicious handily beats complex and unlikeable.Pretty place, great staff who give excellent and classy service.

On my return to the Castres area visiting friends my holiday would not be complete without a visit to this restaurant. In fact twice this time in one week! Absolutely superb food and service would be a one line review The tasting and lunch menu are delivered with such flavours and imagination. You don't get this quality of food in this area so Bistrot Des Savours is therefore unique Book a table, if you love food, GOYou'd struggle in the UK to get food like this in less than a 2 Star Michelin restaurant ... Say no more

"The Mediéval occupies an 11th-century building built on the left bank of the Agout River; you enter from the first street to the east — the door is a few steps below street level. We chose this restaurant because one of our party had been here ten years ago and had a very positive memory of it. We weren’t disappointed. Its name refers both to the date of its building and to its ambience: the room has a vaulted ceiling supported by arches, thick walls, an old wooden cabinet, and some medievalish decorations. The main room holds about fourteen tables; a further couple of tables are in an adjoining alcove, and a porch overlooking the river allows a couple of small tables, used seasonally. The tables are placed fairly close to one another but the feeling isn't quite cramped, especially as only four other tables were being used. The white tablecloths and sturdy chairs enhance to the comfortable feeling. We were greeted warmly for lunch, and the daily specials were explained to us. The 17€ menu of the day seemed good value. There were no choices. It began with a light and tasty fish mousse on salad greens with vegetables; this was the most creatively conceived and interesting part of the meal. It was followed by a "plat" of turkey with a particularly notable mushroom gravy and mixed mashed potatoes. The dessert was pears in a rich caramel cream. As others have noted, the portions are generous. Nothing could have done better, though I’d reinforce what another reviewer says, that with the gravy, mash, and caramel cream dessert, this was by no means a low-fat meal. Good crusty rolls were given us and replenished. We included a bottle of recent Gaillac wine, modestly priced. Service was quite friendly, but, as other reviewers have noted, sometimes a bit slow, since the staff is small. (Accordingly, I've rated the service "average", but it was much better than average in warmth.) We were in no hurry, though, and didn’t mind. Given its pleasant setting and and comfortable room, the friendliness of the staff, the good value, and the very interestingly conceived and well prepared (though rich) food, I’d recommend the Mediéval to others."
