"My husband entered your 12 days of christmas competition and he won the Smiths hotel DB&B we would like to say a big thank you for the lovely relaxing stay and the delicious breakfast and 3 course meal, our room was spotlessly clean all staff are friendly and helpful. We were married at Famous Blacksmith Shop in 2006 and had our wedding reception at Smiths we also had our 10 year anniversary blessing there so Smiths hotel will always be a special place to us thank you again"

We got married here on August 15, 2018, and we absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was very intimate and personal, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We highly recommend this place to everyone!

We visited Gretna Green for our the weekend,we found the overall atmosphere and experience of the blacksmiths shop very moving and it was the perfect romantic getaway for our 11th wedding anniversary! X

We were married at the Blacksmith's Shop on 28th July and had the most perfect day! The atmosphere in and around the Blacksmith's is amazing and everyone commented on what a lovely wedding venue it was. We can't wait to return for a wee visit!

We got married on 30th July the venue is magical the staff are superb as was the minister. Everything we asked for help with was unconditionally forthcoming. If you are looking for intimacy and a unique wedding this is definitely something anyone should consider.

I got married here on June 8, 2018 was an amazing experience could not have asked for a better high time sandy our minister was great, colin carpenter has made a great job of our photos and frank venered all the tourists away so that we could get our photo taken under the sculpture it was warm and welcoming from beginning to end could not recommend enough, thanks for a great time xx Visualizza piatti

We got married here a year ago (January 28, 2017) and returned today to celebrate our anniversary weekend. After exploring various locations in the countryside, we felt that this venue offered something truly special compared to the others we visited. Each place had its own romantic charm, and although there were some tourists on our special day, they were respectful and graciously moved aside when asked. We highly recommend Gretna! x

We got married here on Wednesday, July 25th, and it was absolutely magical – everything we had hoped for and so much more! The venue is incredibly beautiful, steeped in history, and so romantic. Our ceremony in the original pre-room was perfectly orchestrated by the lovely registrar, and Morag guided us through the day as if we were the first couple to create this special connection. A huge thank you to Ms. Pomfret for making our day unforgettable! xx

"would be highly recommended for fabulous eating! we visited accidentally, all day mothering Sunday and of course we had not booked; the restaurant was jam packed, but the wonderful staff let us eat in the bar! I had a nice surprise with you. a glass bubbly on the house to celebrate also Mother's Day! the girls who have never stopped! they were very attentive and helpful and eating was nice, but the portions were huge, so would eat 2 or only one main guess, do not both! would return absolutely."

"I stopped by for lunch with my two dogs. We were informed that we would have to sit in the sports bar, which was not a problem. A friendly waitress greeted both dogs with genuine affection, showing she was a dog lover. Unfortunately, I did not catch her name, but she was very pleasant and chatted happily with us. Our food order was taken quickly and arrived sooner than expected. The food was simple pub fare and tasty. The decor was a bit shabby and the seats were quite dirty. I cannot speak for the restaurant side of the pub as we did not go there. Since it was a sports bar, there was quite a bit of rough language from the locals sitting at the bar."

The food was exceptional, earning a perfect rating of 5 out of 5. Every dish was flavorful and expertly prepared, truly a highlight of the meal. However, the service could use some improvement, as I would rate it a 3 out of 5. While the staff was friendly enough, the wait times were a bit longer than expected. The atmosphere was quite pleasant, receiving a solid 4 out of 5. The ambiance was inviting and made for a lovely dining experience. On a positive note, there was ample free parking available, which made getting to the restaurant hassle-free. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a delicious lunch!"

"Awful check in service. Receptionist was late off shift and showed her anger. Her words “ I’m due off but I’m going to do you a favour and check you in” After she was relieved our 2 rooms were allocated, 40 and 39, our teenage children next to us. Another receptionist pitched in that we can’t have 39 as it was allocated, same with next offer of room 32. My children ended up on the next floor down. Our restaurant bills were all messed up. On check out we were apparently under charged, and we were telephoned on our way home and told we needed to pay over the phone another £98. When we queried this, as this was wrong, it came down to around 50 and then further reduced because of all the mistakes to 20 something. I have been emailed to ask for payment and I’ve emailed back to get a fully itemised bill, of course 3 days later I have not received this. I’m not sure anyone there knows what they are doing. And one last thing, a barman refused to pour us a Guinness because he said he didn’t work on that bar and that we’d have to wait for the person who did. We ordered a pot of tea for 2 also and this was left on the bar and the lady serving shouted over for us to come and collect it. This is not service, this is shoddy mismanaged, under trained, under enthused and possibly under paid staff. A very poor experience Food drinks: Nothing to write home about. Breakfast was poor. Sausages not cooked, hash browns you could knock a nail in with, coffee cold, I could go on."

"My husband and I had breakfast at this restaurant yesterday (24/6/22) before heading south. While the food looked fresh, it tasted different once served. The fried bread was very hard, the bacon was dry and crispy to the point that it couldn't be cut and had to be broken like a biscuit, and the scrambled eggs were dried up. The biggest issue was that the hot food was served on cold plates, which is unacceptable. When we ordered tea for 2, we expected 2 pots and 2 cups, but one pot was enough for both cups. I had to ask for a takeaway cup for the second pot of tea, as I didn't want to waste it at £2.40 per pot. We will not be returning to this restaurant."
