"That 's supposed to be the high point of my Mother 's Day weekend, but it was only a disappointment. The service doesn 't make you feel welcome, especially if you have a young kid or a toddler. You can clearly see the disapproval eyes around. If your restaurant is not appropriate for the little ones, it 's totally fine, but please inform on the website or on your booking confirmation (specifically because I requested a high chair). That would have avoided my BAD experience and given my table for someone else more appropriate. The food was good, only two chefs working and they 're pushing, nice options in the menu and the price is ok for what they serve. The starter scallops taste 5 the pancetta was crispy. The panache was well executed (no seasoning on the turned vegetables, but it 's fine), saffron sauce was light and smooth. Didn 't have any motivation to try the desserts."

"My family and I dined at the Union restaurant in December 2023 for the first time, marking our fourth visit overall after dining there three times previously on our own. While most of the food we have had at the restaurant has been excellent, there was one instance where my main course wasn't as good as it had been on other occasions. During this visit, my starter was good and my dessert was outstanding, but unfortunately, my main course was disappointing and overpriced. I'm not a fan of fish or seafood, and I don't always crave red meat, so I opted for the vegetarian option among the choices of lemon sole, steak, Somerset goat chops, and a vegetarian dish. My husband enjoyed the lemon sole he ordered, but my vegetarian meal was bland and unappetizing. I had to add salt to try to improve the taste, but it was mostly butterbeans and lacked flavor. For the price of £21, I expected a more satisfactory meal. I found it extremely disappointing and not worth the cost. While dining in Rye can be expensive, the quality of the food usually justifies the price. However, I would advise avoiding or being cautious when selecting this particular main course at the Union."

"We had lunch at The Fig in Rye and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The lunch menu has good variety even though the menu is small. The pulled pork tacos were delicious as was the Goan prawn curry. We both enjoyed the warm banana cake dessert. The atmosphere was great and the staff helpful and attentive. Thank you!"

"I had a fantastic dining experience! As soon as I walked in and inquired about gluten-free options, the waitress was knowledgeable and immediately informed me that the fries were cooked in their own fryer. Plus, those fries were the best I've ever tasted! If you're in Rye and searching for gluten-free friendly options, I highly recommend Hoof. They even offered a gluten-free brownie for dessert!"

"Not messing around with long winded comments but straight to the point! Brilliant staff, amazing food and service was outstanding. The Korean chicken wings were absolutely incredible and best I have ever eaten. The staff were just outstanding. We were well looked after by the excellent Florence and sorry we didn’t get your name, but you are about to study you Masters after gaining a degree in a geography. The staff obviously love working here as the whole evening was outstanding!!"
