"Das Essen kann man hier wirklich nur empfehlen. Sehr lecker und frisch und dieses Restaurant gibt es schon seit 35 Jahren. Also warum nur 3 Sterne. Wir haben hier zu 4 gegessen und waren rundum zufrieden bis die Rechnung kam. Diese lag bei 88 Euro was nicht das Problem war. Als wir sagten wir zahlen getrennt kam ein Betrag von 94 Euro zu stande. Verrechnen kann man sich ja mal aber wenn die erste Rechnung bei 50 liegt und man sagt den Rest auf die zweite Rechnung ist es eigentlich nicht wirklich schwer das auszurechnen. Die Bedienung hat hin und her gerechnet und dabei kam die Differenz raus. Haben uns etwas beschissen vorgekommen. Vielleicht versuchen wir es noch einmal aber nicht so schnell."

"We tried the pizza because we find it hard to find good pizza in Gießen. I found her menu pretty printless and very easy for pizza. the same, we ordered and it took 2x as long as they said on the phone. The delivery was very friendly. Overall, the pizza was average. We would eat it again, but we will also try to find other pizzas, the good quality pizza we are looking for."

"Hier kochen Inder im Familienbetrieb und mit viel Liebe seit vielen Jahren traditionelle Gerichte. Für mich begann hier als Teenager meine Freude am indischen Essen. Kürzlich habe ich das Essen für eine kleine Familienfeier bestellt und man hat uns problemlos viele leckere Speisen zubereitet, die auch die Allergiker unter uns genießen konnten. Die Einrichtung und Deko hat sich vermutlich in den letzten 40 Jahren kaum geändert, muss sie auch nicht unbedingt, sie wirkt klassisch. Wirklich sehr zu empfehlen!"

"We've been there for a long time with friends. We really liked it. Especially the food was really delicious. The menu is clear, but better small and good for it. The location is certainly one of the best things to offer. The staff is very friendly and fleeing. The rinderroulade wouldn't have got my mother better – and that's what I want. Because of this experience, I can only recommend the restaurant."

"We can park our car in the large parking lot. At first glance, the restaurant does not like it. When we see the outdoors (April 09), we're all scared. There is a watering can in the pond, an outer lantern is broken, the beer garden looks very untreated. But it's not a beer garden time yet... Inside it looks original and the service is friendly. We have pre-ordered a table by e-mail, but the e-mail has not been read... Fortunately, there's not much operation. I personally find the card a bit boring as a former Cucaracha girl. I lack variations with spinach and feta, even the selection of salads I find too small. We choose a Quesadilla and two Burritos Vegetarianos. The vegetables in the Burrito are a bit hard, but tastes fresh and tomatodressing guacamole taste very good, even if some salt is missing. But I have to say that I prefer too little salt. It is known that after-salting is still possible. The Quesadilla seems to taste good. As a dessert, my girlfriend eats baked ice cream in cornflakes coat (or something) with cinnamon. She's thrilled! Conclusion: we eat and drink for about 45 euros. The food is good, the service is very attentive and forward-looking and the price o.k. The selection could be a little bigger. In summer you can eat nice in the beer garden."

"we were in the mirch masala yesterday and we were all completely delighted. my well known and I know the Indian cuisine of various service trips, among others by little india in singapur, which is the reference for this review. the menu leaves no wish open, especially for vegetarian a paradies. I had decided for the speciality of the house of a selection of tandoori specialties with naan and a very tasty mint sauce. what should I say, a fireworks of the senses. the tandoori specialities are served on small pots directly from the many. also all the others are freshly prepared and come on small pushes on the table. so you can order super some different things and everyone on the table can operate separately. simply great for those who want to discover the Indian cuisine. or just test the evening buffet on Tuesdays. "For lovers of good regional cuisine, the Hawwerkasten is a must. The food is hessian/German, instead of the usual fries, there are salt or roast potatoes or bread, industrial ingredients are up here, everything is fresh. The meat (the hessian cuisine is meat-laden) comes from the Mezgerei next door (one of two butchers in the water that do not belong to a größmetzger chain) and is always fresh so that you can enjoy Tartar without any problems. In the kitchen is a fryer, carvings and stools are roasted and juicy and tender. Fresh and well tapped here more in all variations, other varieties are available from the bottle. The wines offered are also good. The service staff is fast, competent and very friendly. Location: The Hawwerkasten is located on the outskirts of the Gießen city centre in the Neus Schloss/Zeughaus, close to office, country and company, right next to the government office and close to the employment agency. The house is one of the few remaining buildings after the Second World War, in it was already in the 1920s the Hawwerkasten . The interior is rustic with lots of wood, even the chairs and tables are old, but well maintained. In summer there are 10 tables in front of the house on small street 8 where the same dishes are served as in the restaurant. In the park opposite, a beer garden opens in summer, which has only small dishes on the map next to the drinks. The audience is mixed: There are regular guests on the counter who drink their evening beer here, there are regular tables that have been meeting here for many years, there are tourists who have come on recommendation, locals who occasionally come to enjoy a traditional dish like with the mamma and not to forget come often students. Conclusion: A very good, cozy, original place with a rustic, well maintained kitchen without taste."

"Ich ging an einem Samstag gemeinsam mit meiner Frau über den Gießener Markt, und bemerkte an der Pizzeria Roma ein Angebot, das mich ansprach. Sinngemäß: Alle Pizzen, die abgeholt werden 5 Euro. Da es Mittagszeit war, gingen wir rein, und ich bestellte eine Pizza Toscana. Ich fragte den Pizzabäcker, ob er nur die Hälfte der Pizza als Toscana machen könnte, und die andere mit Tomatensauce und Käse. Ja, das wäre möglich sagte der Mann. Da meine Frau keine Pilze ißt, freuten wir uns sehr. Wenig später kam eine andere Angestellte dazu, redete mit dem Pizzabäcker und plötzlich hiess es: Nein, es geht nicht. Sonst müsse der teurere Preis bezahlt werden. Meine Frau und ich, wir sahen uns an, und zuckten mit den Schultern, und eigentlich hatte ich an dieser Stelle schon Lust zu gehen. Ich bestellte dann doch die "Toscana", weil ich Hunger hatte, und meine Frau besorgte sich auf dem Markt ein Stück Kuchen. Der Pizzabäcker überreichte mir den Karton, er und die Angestellte wünschten mir einen guten Appetit, dann verließen meine Frau und ich das Restaurant. Ich öffnete den Karton und begann zu essen. Die Restauranttür ging auf und die Angestellte kam raus und sagte. Hier dürfe ich nicht essen. Es fiel uns schwer, zu fassen, was wir da grade erlebt hatten. Die Pizza war gut. Der Bäcker hatte sich Mühe gegeben. Aber die mangelhafte Gastfreundschaft, die wir erlebt hatten, beschäftigte uns noch sehr lange. Das war für uns das erste und das letzte Mal, dass wir in der Pizzeria Roma waren."

"Bei einem Stadtbummel am verkaufsoffenen Sonntag sind wir hungrig ins Pastaholic gekommen und sehr nett empfangen worden. Das Ambiente ist sehr ansprechend, das Servicepersonal super nett und Nudeln und Pizza waren sehr lecker. Ich hätte mir lediglich den Parmesan extra zum Selbstdosieren statt direkt auf den Nudeln gewünscht, da mir persönlich etwas zu viel auf den Nudeln war, ist aber Geschmackssache"

"We went here shortly after arriving in this university town about 45 minutes outside of the large Frankfurt. Our local friends stringy suggested trying the delectable concoctions ,add out of coffee, and other components , usually chocolate . I tried a cafe latte with, I kid you not, chocolate cookie dough. The tastes I was expecting was to be overbearingly sweet and obnoxious but instead it was tasty as hell, and balanced---quite delicate. The Germans know their chocolate, and their Christmas.I smiled after tasting the the chocolatey goodness and smiled even wider when I saw the toy train going around the small cafe by the Windows. Like the German Christmas markets that make Rockwell's depictions of American Christmas nostalgia quaint, the Germans know how to do Christmas.If you come to Giessen, take a few minutes and get yourself a great cup of coffee at a great local spot that will beat the Starbucks down the street( and I am a fan of Starbucks )."

"I have eaten here twice but more recently we had our wedding lunch here due to the prior experiences (especially my wife being from Giessen) but also it has a sophisticated atmosphere underneath in the cellars of a beautiful university building. The outdoor garden is also a quiet lovely place to eat in the warmer season overlooking the botanical gardens (oldest botanical garden in Germany).The menu is special as is the wine menu with many local ingredients and in season food items. The staff are always professional and for example when we sat with the head chef, he was very responsive with our dinner selection for our occasion and made good recommendations as our family & friends really enjoyed the long lunch.I recommend booking, lunches are very busy but it must be very nice here in the evening to eat among candles within the old alcoves of the cellar.Enjoy the experience. We will return many times."

"the pizza was punctual, but unfortunately qualitatiw was pretty bad. she had no real edge, everything was equally thick and fried instead of crispy. for the expensive price it was actually good that so much vegan cheese was on it, but it was just too much so that it tasted only after fat. little sweet, fad and not worth the money. the extra basilikum bestamd from 4 tiny small bottles and costs neat extra. unfortunately not recommended. my colleagues found the non vegan pizzas mostly good, but I don't know if I would order again here."

"Fully pre-ordered table. Good restaurant at a reasonable price. The noodles are homemade and delicious, the appetizers are rich (and sometimes also with fish/seafood), the pizzas taste good. The service is friendly, the house wine (red) o.k, although relatively expensive. Kitchen utensils on the wall, some rustic ambience, really a restaurant where you can eat comfortably. Parking behind the house. Here comes a mixed audience, also many students. Compared to Zum Löwen in Gießen cheaper, with the same beautiful ambience, and at least equally good. Unfortunately only no terrace in summer."
