Vey welcoming and very scenic spot. Delicious homecooked food. High tea on Sunday, was superb. Friendly helpful service. Would definitely highly recommend.

Very glad we called to book ahead. Very good selection of dishes. Gorgeous cheese scones, very tender venison, lovely salmon in orange butter. Go and enjoy!

Had a wonderful evening at The But n Ben, we were staying locally for a friends birthday, great atmosphere and great food, service and banter were fantastic! Would definitely revisit!

We had a fantastic meal on the September. Very clean, Fantastic food and staff who seemed to enjoy working here. Excellent value and not cramped even though it was almost full. Highly Recommended. It is probably the best restaurant in the area! Just make...sure you book in advance as it is very poular.

Having never been to Arbroath and only being up for a night this place really stood out to me so we decided to go. We were NOT disappointed. Smokies and a smokie soup for starters then a huge big platter the entire platter in...my photo and the chips etc was only something like Excellent value and it was entirely delicious. We will be back if we are ever nearby again :

I was taken to the But n Ben for dinner on my birthday recently where the staff were very friendly and great fun. Two of us had haddock and prawns in cheese sauce (extremely cheesy) and one had game pie. All three were very impressed...with our food and the veg was cooked perfectly. Banoffee, however, was a disappointment. Next time (and there will be a next time) I’ll avoid disappointment by having starter and main instead of dessert.

We came for my dads birthday, the food was lovely and the service was good. Althoough I did order a chocolate fudge cake and when it arrived it had lots of cherries in it which I obviously didn't know would be in it as it...wasn't mentioned. The bill ended up being an awful lot more than we were expecting. We all try to guess the bill after going out for a meal and we are usually all pretty close, but we were all about off this bill, we did not expect it to be so expensive.

After an endless walk along the coastal past from Arbroath, we were hungry, thirsty, a little footsore and in need of sustenance. Lucky we'd picked the But n Ben to arrive at! The welcome is warm, the seating comfortable and the drinks menu is just...right. I had the locally made Wanderlust wheat beer, which is ideal for a hot Summer's lunchtime. The lunches we had were beautifully cooked from very fresh ingredients. Our dishes were all based on local fish: poached salmon, mussels (Shetland), kedgeree. The food was undoubtedly great and most of the staff were lovely. I had the arbroath smokie pancake and it was delicious and completely bone-free. My husband had the fish in oatmeal which was also very tasty. The menu was really interesting and varied with...plenty of fish dishes and local dishes including mince and skirlie and the space itself is lovely and cosy. Our issue was with the passive aggressive way the older waitress/owner drew our attention to the fact that we were breaking her rules because we had left our face masks lying on our table.
