"Visited the Restaurant for a Birthday Meal (June 2021 . Service was rather slow (perhaps it was the relaxed atmosphere? and a complimentary aperitif of a butternut squash whip, served in a small coffee cup, looked rather like something you find on the end of a tissue. The fillet of beef was served luke-warm, but nevertheless, it was beautifully presented. The portions (yes, this is fine dining, so you don 't get much anyway were slimmer than Victoria Beckman 's legs ! Having waited over 30 minutes to eventually place an order for desert, it was easy to believe, that the staff had gone off to a local fruit farm to pick the ingredients for the tart. An experience ? Absolutely yes. One to repeat ? 100% No. Now, the Hotel was spotless and looked great, but if this is fine dining, you can keep it. If you like the snobbery of spending £4 for a potato cut into six 'thick chips ' or, for the same price, half a dozen cherry tomatoes you can buy at Marks Spencer for £1.00, warmed in a pan, then you will feel well at home here. I 'm no Gordon Ramsey, but to pay such a sum for what some would regard as Michelin star food, the saying: a fool and his money are easily parted springs to mind ! This Restaurant gave us the feel of a Basil Sybil style set-up from Fawlty Towers, which made light entertainment of what turned out to be a rather disappointing evening. Recommended ? No. Would we return ? No. Perhaps the owners will be grateful to read. that we would not be returning (who needs customers like us ? , but the fact remains, that this was an expensive experience, not one to be repeated (at this Restaurant anyway and this has proven a valuable lesson. All that glitters is not gold and the Restaurant is over-rated and expensive for what is delivered. So, you pay your money, you take your choice."

"It's an imposing Victorian building a short walk from the town centre and although it looks a little formal, don't be put off as the welcome, service and food at L'Amuses Bouche are all excellent. We enjoyed a full three courses and although there isn't a huge choice, we tried a variety of the dishes and they were universally great. The staff were lovely, the atmosphere informal and we would certainly visit again. Highly recommended and a lovely place for a meal We didn't stay in the hotel so can't comment on that but am sure it must be up to scratch!"

"I 've been to this pub several times since it has got new ownership and each time I have left severely disappointed. I have given it a fair try each time but rude staff, refusal to serve you unless you are a regular who are allowed to stay for lock ins whilst everyone else is turfed out before the pub closes and charging on entry for live music for a local pub is obscene. The attitude of staff when even just asking for water was appalling, and needs a severe shake up. Cant comment on the food, but with wetherspoons down the road I doubt many are eating there anyways. Won 't be going back anytime soon."

"A nice location in a courtyard, it has a deli on one side and the restaurant on the other which has seating upstairs or outdoors, under a louvered canopy. Lots of views and plants complete the Mediterranean feel. This is also a dog friendly area. Unfortunately service was slow, with a half hour wait, even though there appeared to be few customers and when it topped a dozen new diners were being advised of a 40 minute delay. The breakfast sandwich was fine, but Egg Benedict sauce was almost tasteless, so not the best I've had. Prices were on the high side considering what we had and the time taken to serve it, but its a great place to people watch! Parking: High Street only. Wheelchair accessibility: Located in courtyard just off the pavement with level access through to the till."

"We dined here on Wednesday evening we decided to share a starter , we had the Mulled Pear salad with Stilton walnuts. This was a really nice starter the salad was fresh a tossed in olive oil i have to say that they did not scrimp on the Stilton or the Walnuts as some other restaurants would do. we would score the starter 10/10 really good.For mains we both had the Pork loin Belly Pork this came with green beans Mashed potato. The Pork Loin was served on some cabbage with bacon lardens , this was a very nice touch different to what we had been served in the past. The belly pork was fine shame it did not crackle a little more but it still was a very nice meal . In previous visits we have had the pork loin served with a stick or two of crackling, if they had done that it would have been perfection.We know it is under new owners we were a bit concerned that the food might be not as good.... But this is not the case at all, in fact i would say they are being a little more imaginative .The service is still very good the staff are very polite helpful. They also still use the Gourmet Society card which is an added bonus. A very nice meal service Thanks!!"
