Canada'Venture - Piatti

We received the warmest of welcomes. We marveled at the treasure trove of Canadiana assembled. We ate delicious salmon and ( though not quite exactly what you get in Montreal ) great smoked meat. The desserts were the perfect sweet way to end the evening.

As a Canadian in Metz on Canada Day this seemed a natural fit. It wasn't east to find, as it is located about midway down what looks like an alley, a street away from a large group of restaurants. The decor and menu are very much based on a French Canadian voyageur motif, and the multitude of small touches are great. Some may say a bit cliched and over the top, but hey it's fun!! Service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Would definitely eat at this restaurant again!

I hesitated for a while to put down my opinion on this place. Till the moment we were thinking of coming back or not. So: the decorations and food are extra! We enjoyed us a lot here. The only week point is the time management by the staff. Staff was really nice and constantly making some jokes. But.. We stayed there unwillingly at least for three hours. We left the place almost by its closing, still we came there around 19h30-20h. Having lived in the USA - we had become accustomed to North American restaurants and food. This promised an authentic Candian experience and it very nearly delivered the goods.Food is really good, the menu is limited but enouigh variety to keep it interesting. Decor is shabby chic - does need a coat of paint in a few areas, and wouldn't be tolerated anywher else but in France.As usual the service is only OK - no smiles, offer of top up drinks, or thank you for being a customer etc...If you are after something a bit different, them worth a look - Cheesecake Factory and even Olive Garden do this so much better...

Am I glad I referred to Trip Advisor before setting off to Metz! We would never have discovered Canada 'Venture given it is hidden away right next to the river front. A sheer delight from start to finish. Setting the tone was the warm welcome from our gracious host, yet it was the decor and ambiance that linger in the memory. Beautifully crafted surroundings festooned with Canadian trinkets and memorabilia, with a real authentic vibe. The food was outstanding, first time I had attempted bison and it won't be the last! Food was typical Mid West North American and good but simple Food. VERY filling and large portions, really will anchor you down. The only Thing that differed was the Caribou. Was a delicious Piece of meat. Sauce was cranberries which complimented nicely. Everything Food wise was lovely and Service for such a packed Little Restaurant was really Swift. Ambience is really really so Mid Western USA. Have not been to Canada but where I come from in the USA there are many places with such warmth and charm of the mid west. Creme Brulee is to DIE for :). Very unique in food choices and atmosphere! Menu consisted of such fare as Bison, Caribou and Salmon. Casual and relaxed atmosphere with a homey feel. Large portions that were beautifully presented. Service was wonderful! Our waiter(owner?) was very nice and graciously seated us early when we showed up shortly after 6 (not realizing the restaurant didn't open until 7) Our total bill for 5 people was 160 Euro with everyone having plenty of wine and ordering desert. Canadian cuisine is, I suppose, rather an unknown to many. I previously had only a small experience, so when my company and I ran into this Canadian restaurant, I convinced them into giving it a try. First impression, the set up. The restaurant is cosier and nicely decorated than the photos suggest. That been said, this is probably the best thing you'll get. Looking for a restaurant that's open on a Sunday evening can sometimes be a challenge, and we chose this place based on the reviews of TripAdvisor (we have never been disappointed with this method).The service was good; we didn't have to wait overly long for the food, bearing in mind there was one single wait staff that evening.The waiter was working alone, and although slightly brusque at the beginning, he slowly warmed up and became quite friendly as the meal went on, chatting with diners at various tables.
