"We were staying in their campsite behind the pub, but we had some drinks both nights of our stay in the pub. Kids play area in the beer garden, loads of parking and space inside the pub. Only issue we found was with the shower block. 3 Blocks all containing 1 shower in and 2 toilets in each. The problem is, people are able to lock the main door, so if you want to use the toilet, and someone has locked that door to have a shower, you are waiting a long time. For us, 20 minutes...3 people all showering for 20 minutes locking the main door, so we cannot use the basins or toilets. They need to remove the locks for the main doors to resolve this. The shower doors have their own locks, so I don't see why it is necessary to lock everyone else out. Happy to stay here again, but will bring the Porta Pottie."

"We ate off the specials menu tonight. The food was top class. The standard menu is good honest fare at a good price in a pleasant environment but when the the chef can extend himself to what produce is available at the time he can really showcase his talent. The meal tonight would have been good value at twice the price. Price per person: £100+ Food: 5"

"Only 11 miles from where we live we had never heard of Kingstone but my wife decided to book an early evening meal here based on the pub being in the Good Beer Guide. Initial thoughts on entering were that the pub was friendly with a comfortable feel about it and friendly staff and customers. I’m going to have to split my review into three. Firstly the beer I had a porter from the Uttoxeter Brewery and a blond from Dancing Duck in Derby. Both well kept and excellent. Secondly the food my starter was salt and pepper squid with a chilli sauce dip. Crispy and delicious. My main a smoked haddock risotto with broccoli. Now my wife is a vegetarian so I’m not allowed stinky fish in the house so I will always pick it in a restaurant. This was absolutely gorgeous and topped with a perfectly poached egg which when cut through dripped yolk down into the rice. Food porn at its best. Thirdly the staff all young ladies serving in a very busy environment but so beautiful, friendly, efficient and kind. Where do all these lovely girls come from? I may have to move to Kingstone (just don’t tell the wife)."

"We’ve been coming here for years. Whilst the settings and feel is always country like with an open wood fire and decent atmosphere. The food has really took a dive over the last 18 months . We Visited yesterday, the steak pie was horrible, overcooked and had black burnt pasty and rock hard. I showed this the waiter who took my food away. He came back and said all he could do was offer me another or a free desert. Didn’t want another thank you. I opted for a free desert which I’d rather of paid for and received a refund for my meal. Paid £12.95 for gravy chips and veg as the pie was left on the plate. Apparently the chef is going to do it different next time… what not burn the food. We won’t be retuning. A real shame because use to love the place just not the food anymore."

"We visited for a family dinner for the second time on Saturday, having made a reservation in advance, knowing it would be busy. The service was excellent, and our server, Amelia, went above and beyond to accommodate a picky eater at our table. She offered to remove certain items from the plate and suggested alternatives that made my son feel more comfortable with his choices. All the staff provided perfect service, and the timing between courses was just right. Since this was only our second visit, we hoped it would be as good as our first visit as a couple. However, the second experience was even better, and we will definitely return soon. Finally, the price of the food was great value for money with a fantastic variety. It’s a joy to visit such a friendly place with excellent service. Thank you!"
