"We arrived just before 13.00,and once we actually got in (the door was locked and it took twenty minutes before I found someone to unlock it despite me phoning, banging on doors and windows and going to the kitchen door) the place was okay. The decor is a bit tired looking, but the food was very nice. Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options were limited, but my husband enjoyed his Thai style curry despite it not being his favourite cuisine."

"We were in the area for one night, travelling slowly from Loch Lomond up to Skye. After taking in breathtaking views and clean air for the afternoon, we stumbled in to the Laroch restaurant just before 6pm on the off chance there'd be a table. We were welcomed in, given a restaurant table, orders were taken in an attentive but pleasantly unhurried fashion, and good recommendations were given on food and local beers. We shared the game terrine (lovely) and both plumped for venison haunch from the specials board (powerful, deliciously cooked, beautifully paired with sauce and accompanying dauphinoise and apple). Afterwards we sauntered into the bar for a couple of recommended whiskies, where many locals were eating, chatting and enjoying their evening pints. Seeing locals at the bar is a cracking telltale sign, and in this case an accurate reflection of the staff, the food, the drink and the entire venue. We had a tip top evening. And the young team of staff were all exemplary, warm and professional in all that they did. Thanks for having us, team!"

"Have been a few times with mixed results so decided to give it another go, as we are local. Wish we hadn't bothered. No atmosphere, two members of staff standing behind bar chatting, got drink on my top from the dirty bar, table top was sticky to touch. Ordered second drink as had to wait for 50min for food to come. Ordered Heritage Burger Chicken skewer... what came was greasy chips, you could taste the old oil off them. Rocket salad was dried up with a few tiny bits of tomato. Chicken was about 5/6 tiny bits of burnt chicken, and the burger looked more like a hamburger than a fresh handmade beef burger, in a co-op style bun, with horrible flash in the pan bacon. When partner complained the young waiter took it away then came back 5min later and asked if he wanted it re-cooked or something els from the menu!!! After 50min for this declined, he never offered a refund. We then sat there for another 5min and when I wasn't given any cutlery with my meal, decided it wasn't worth waiting for. Shocking to see such poor service and food in our local area, Management really need to take a good look at their chef."

"Ordered a fish supper. It was fantastic! The only reason I'm giving 4-stars and not 5 is because it was quite expensive for the portion size. One piece of fish and a modest portion of chips was £10.50 as they also charge for sauce. I live in Edinburgh and the chippy I order from gives two pieces of fish and a huge portion of chips with a fish supper and it only costs £7.50. So, for price and portion size, I give a 4/5."

"Bad experience. Queuing system for orders unclear. Someone pushed in before us and then lied to justify. After waiting some time, couple before us had just asked if order at table or order first. We were only others in queue and said we'd got table, then queued. Just them and us in queue then! Earlier I had queued to side of them but moved behind, as found in way of those leaving from cafe, so stood immediately behind although in gift shop area which close to till. When came to our turn, someone pushed in. When I said we were next, they made a fuss, saying they had been there all along (when standing where I had been earlier). They were believed and I wasn't. This was very unpleasant, especially due to what man said. While in queue, I had also seen them walk towards order point, although hadn’t given it any attention. They had pushed in, perhaps unwittingly, but then insisted they were next and made false claims to justify. We left as the queue jumpers insisted they were right and were believed by those serving. Difficult situation for those running cafe. It partly arose due to lack of space to queue for placing orders (gift shelves too close to order/paying point, leaving little room to queue) and lack of clarity on how to order, with no welcome or guidance given. Shame as we’d had a nice day till then and had to leave to find tea and cake etc and a welcome elsewhere."
