"I have no idea how Mrs Teapot came by that name, but the inside of this creperie is certainly quaint. It's also one of the few restaurants that seems to be open for lunch on a Monday in Vitre. Many of the items on the menu are named after particular places in the UK, so salads are "Notting Hill", "Picadilly", etc. and dessert crepes are "Highland", "Sussex", etc. It's hard to see much rhyme or reason in this, but I guess it's vaguely amusing. Our salads were basically fine: the Picadilly one included chèvre and camembert on toast as well as diced tomato and lettuce; Notting Hill included smoked duck, blue cheese, bacon and slices of pear and was the best of the two. With the dessert crepes, one's spoilt for choice, with options including both the simple and the complex. The proof of the pudding is in the eating of course, and my husband's simple crepe with lemon and sugar turned out to be rather better than my Highland crepe, which included boules of blackcurrant and coffee ice cream plus caramel, chocolate sauce, a gloopy cherry 'coulis' reminiscent of tinned pie filling and cream, all of which added up to a car crash on a plate, leaving the rather cold and chewy crepe the outsider. Simple is best."

During two weeks in Brittany we had some of the best galettes in this restaurant. Friendly & welcoming service. Multi language menues and multi language service. Good galettes and crêpes plus good beer and cidres.

We chanced upon the MrsTeapot during a heavy downpour in June. Popped in and decided to try the crepes and how lucky for us it rained. We were given an English menu and were happy to order knowing exactly what we were going to get.The crepes were nice and flavoursome. Mrs Teapot is located on a great old street and is well worth a visit.

We visited this creperie on two occasions with our 17yr and 12 yr old, during our stay near Rennes - we loved it! Lots of character, great food and cidre! Savoury followed by sweet is a must - my favourites being 'Plymouth' (scallops) followed by 'Highland' (caramel apples, chocolate sauce, icecream and chantilly cream') - lush!...within such a beautiful town also.

This is our favorite creperie in Vitre. The owners are so funny and friendly. We try to speak our minimal French and they are patient and helpful. The crepes are divine. The dessert crepes are so fresh and absolutely yummy. They have English menus, too. The building has so much character, so does the staff. There is an outdoor courtyard available in warm weather. We go here as often as possible and definitely recommend this lovely place.

Not too many places were open late on a monday evening but we were lucky with this creperie. The host was full of banter and despite being busy made us feel as though we were really welcome. The buckwheat crepes were great as were the puddings tea/coffees and wine but I was really surprised when the bill for two came to less than 40 euros. We could have eaten simpler dishes for half the price but.....We had a pleasant surprise the following morning to see our host in the town He remembered us with more banter a handshake and a courtesy you feel is genuine.

Although in France for 20 years, this was my first visit to Vitré. The woman at the hotel we stayed at, Le Petit Billot, recommended this crêperie to us and I was so happy she did. Had we just been walking by we might not have been inspired as the outside doesn't have too much appeal. However, as soon as we walked in, I loved it immediately. I am not inspired by so many of these modern crêperies, I like a place with some soul and character, and Mrs. Teapot has it in spades. Wood beams, stone walls, lots of different things hanging on the walls, etc. In addition to the great ambiance we were welcomed by the friendly and humorous owner even though we showed up quite late for the lunch hour. Well, the thing in France is that you never know what will happen when you don't speak the language. We get through fine, but then with my wife suffering from celiac disease it can be a challenge ... not here, as the host and the staff are prepared to help. If you try, they will try as well and at the end of the day we had a fantastic lunch. So, it is all about Gallette and Crepes, but the variety is massive and there is something for everyone. Our teenage kids even had a menu and enjoyed this a lot. Value for money is fantastic and the portions were good size, food was fresh and these were the best Gallette we had during our 2 week trip through Brittany.Location is right in the heart of Vitr...
