Located within its own large grounds, it is a very enjoyable place to stay. The room was very comfortable, accompanied by an excellent breakfast and evening dinner. Beautiful characterful property with very helpful staff and a personal touch. 4 stars for the room because the room was very hot at night with lack of air con (note we were there on the hottest days of the year >25degC), which is understandable in a historic property. To alleviate the situation, a duvet tog lower than 10.5tog would help Rooms: 4

We found the entire staff to be incredibly helpful and eager to assist us in every way. The hotel and its grounds were exceptional, offering stunning views of the surrounding Chiltern Hills and the River Thames. The spa facilities exceeded our expectations, and the restaurant food was truly excellent. In summary, we highly recommend this stay. Rooms: 5

Absolutely fantastic! I received a complimentary room upgrade, and the food was delicious! However, there was a rather scary ghost lurking at night... best to run from the sounds and not look back! Had a two night stay for my wife’s birthday and ate in the restaurant and the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the house and grounds are well presented with great views and a sense of detachment, the rooms are excellent the staff are very attentive have character and the food was great too. Nice pool and having a steam room is a plus. Rooms: Very decent size rooms with individual character. Walkability: We walked out of the grounds along the Thames to a weir about an hour away. Very nice, hardly saw a soul.

We also treated ourselves to afternoon tea, which was equally wonderful. We couldn’t finish it all, so we took a box back to our room to enjoy later that evening. Since it was my birthday, they even surprised us with a special plate of truffles—what a delightful touch! The spa was great too; it was very clean and felt uncrowded. We enjoyed a couple of relaxing treatments there. Everyone was so lovely, and I would highly recommend a weekend stay. We give it a solid 10 out of 10! Thank you to everyone who took such excellent care of us!

Firstly I would just like to say that all the staff were amazing. Everyone from the groundskeeper to the manager were nothing but lovely and helpful. A special thanks to the young lady on the breakfast and lunch shift with blonde hair who was especially helpful with my wife’s dietary requirements. The rooms do need a bit of TLC with some paint chipping off the walls and curtains with marks and rips in. The house is maintained to a very high standard but again could use a little TLC but that’s to be expected from any busy hotel! The grounds are immaculate.
