"we had a discussion about where and what variety of means of living to enjoy. it has been many months since visiting doncaster, so for me the only option had to be this restaurant. my friend ordered the fish plate while I had the big cod with...musig pease and white brot. extras contain tee for two, and bottle iron sparkling water as it was a very hot day. eating was not disappointing and was as always top notch. it is good to mention that the family that lead the restaurant came to our table to talk to us. they also gave us free teapots so we could enjoy the experience even more. not to forget, paula our attentive waitress who looked around us, and we will be earned the tipp. only to mention that the restaurant has a air conditioning that is a good bonus."

Fish Special for tea collected by my husband. For £5.40 you get fish, chips, mushy peas and a sausage. There is a choice of different things but this is what we chose. Absolutely gorgeous. 100% value for money. Highly recommended.

This is my go to place for fish and chips. I'd rather go without if I can't have Fish Bits. Everything is cooked to perfection. The peas are amazing, so tasty. When sitting in the restaurant the staff are attentive and serve quickly. I have...been here numerous times to sit in and takeaway and I can't fault it. Always 10 out of 10.

Probably the best cod and chips I’ve ever had. Cod, flaky white moist. Batter, thin crispy and not at all greasy without any kind of bitter or burnt aftertaste. Wry fresh tasting. Chips well cooked all even sized, none of those little gritty hard tiny...burnt ones either so all in all yeah definitely the best Cod chips have ever had. Only fault, it’s not at the seaside and the location is “interesting”

many thanks for another great lunch. as the 40-mile round trip worth, only for fish and chips. these are the best in Britain not only best in doncaster or yorkshire. I wish we could get there at least once a week. beautiful clean...and fresh restaurant and super personal, always greeted with beautiful smiles and a boiling hot pot tee practically on the table as we go through the door. parking also no problem. many thanks again john and everyone, soon jan and john

a must visit! today visited (19/5/22) must be said that this was excellent! personal really friendly, haddock and chips specials could not be fault-free, with a distance the best in doncaster or environment. the waitress who checked whether our food was in order. especially beautiful, really pleasant and really pleased that we thought that eating and service was excellent, especially as we told her we were usually visiting whitby’s but rebuilt. quality and worth two to none, well worth the 30 miles trip.

Searched for a decent' fish and chip restaurant in a 30mile radius of home. Fish and Bits came up, looked great, reviews great, and they have a car park. Visited today for 1st time. Absolutely 1st class, in fact superb. Beautiful food, pure white cod,...gorgeous batter, superb chips and none with those horrid black bits that so many serve these days. Lovely mushy peas all served piping hot. Staff first class too, friendly and very helpful. Very pleasant customers too. John the proprietor great guy and very thoughtful and kind. The place is spotless too. Certainly No. 1 in our charts. Will be back as soon as we can. Thank you all very much, perfect prices too. Will take some beating anywhere.

It’s been quite a while since we last visited. After cycling from Sheffield to Doncaster on the trans Pennine trail to visit friends. We decided to visit Fish Bits to sample their legendary fish and chips, mushy peas, bread, and pot of tea. Followed by...a various assortment of cakes. Although the chocolate ice cream was my personal choice. Once again the restaurant did not disappoint with the quality food that was on offer. Of course it’s not just the food that’s worth mentioning but also the service. Our waitress Paula made our stay very memorable and enjoyable and she was very attentive. Next time will definitely choose the large fish and chips meal. Finally great shout out to the staff f...

"The welcome we received was pleasant, although not very personal, and our details were not checked, which was surprising considering how difficult it was to secure a reservation. The restaurant is not licensed, so guests are welcome to bring their own drinks. My husband and I brought two bottles of champagne, but we were not offered an ice bucket and were given standard wine glasses instead of flutes. The food was served promptly, starting with an amuse bouche of butternut squash veloute with a creamy accompaniment served in egg boxes. The chef explained the dish himself, and it was delicious. The second course, an aged rice dish reminiscent of a soupy risotto flavored with parmesan and espresso, was my least favorite. I found it poorly presented and the coffee flavor didn't come through well. The third course, a beautifully cooked lamb cutlet finished on a barbecue outside, was accompanied by flavorful lentils. However, the broccoli that came with it was plain and could have used some additional flavor. The dish was not explained to us. The fourth dish, which I initially thought was eel, turned out to be smoked eel and was served with beetroot. This was one of my favorite dishes of the night. We were served two desserts: a warm chocolate foam with orange sorbet and a deconstructed rhubarb custard with pink meringue pieces, both of which were delicious. The bill was not presented to us, so we followed the lead of other guests who left cash on the table as they left. My husband had a nice chat with the chef, and I joined in after a visit to the restroom. The chef was very knowledgeable and skilled with flavors. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of personality in presenting and explaining each dish. The experience felt somewhat impersonal and lacked interest. I believe guest interaction is crucial, so my tip would be for the restaurant to take the time to engage with guests, even if it means spending less time in the kitchen. I did not give a perfect score due to the presentation and slightly underwhelming flavors in some dishes. I believe that in fine dining, every element of the dish should be bursting with flavor. Despite this, we had an enjoyable evening and would return if we are able to secure a reservation."
