Super food, whether steak, carving or salmon. Good wine. It's more like an upscale restaurant than a bakery shop. For us a stay worth it.

It is great to sit on the terrace in the sun with wine and good food. We had paprika and vegetable carvings, both prima. Ok also not super inexpensive with €12.50. but large portion and additionally salad. The only drop in wormwood is the long waiting time when it's full, as with us.

My two friends and I enjoyed the yardschoppenfest under the walnut right now. The extensive menu and reasonable wines and prices attracted a variety of guests. At noon it was quite well occupied. The prompt service and the price-performance ratio is all satisfied. Unfortunately, the driver, in this case I, can only drink 1 glass. It's a shame!

We had chosen a Wednesday to be able to come in at noon after a hike, as only this day, Sundays and holidays are open at noon. We were 14 people and were all enthusiastic about food and drinks. For a long time, I haven't eaten such a good Zurich spelt with Pomme Dauphine in a restaurant. The operation was extremely fast and careful. The pricing is very favorable. After three years we were back here. No quality loss ever since. As a greeting from the kitchen: small Bruschetta. We were here on the recommendation of the acquaintances and therefore all the more excited about this place. Already when we came across the river “Elsava”, we saw a pilot in our surprise, who put the trout in clean water. The guest room is housed in an extended barn and offers a beautiful view of the river with a large window. I chose a seaweed with asparagus and my wife for a bait from the organic pig. Both were very delicious and prepared with fresh ingredients. A great experience.

Top wines and delicious food we love at the Schalkhaus, so we are very often there and have never been disappointed. The entire team is very attentive and helpful. On food, everything is offered from the classic chopper card to numerous carving options to steak and fish. In addition, there is a monthly changing special card with seasonal products and also vegetarian alternatives. Also suitable for celebrations of any kind is the Schalkhaus with its great ambience. Unfortunately, it is no longer a secret tip to reserve beforehand.

The Schalkhaus has been residing in a very beautiful converted barn since 2008. The hosts, the Hefner family, also operate a wine-growing company in secondary acquisition. Vineyard. Four grape varieties, Müller Thurgau, Chardonnay, Portugieser and Dornfelder are cultivated. Since 1994, the company also has a brandy. As an appetizer we had the Senf-Zwiebel-Cremesuppe, as the main course the goose breast with root vegetables and potato dumplings or the sour roast with red cabbage with potato dumplings.
