"I have always said that for successful neighborhood restaurant all they need is dishes on the menu that people crave. I have been to Hatari.....so many times! It is around the corner from our place and is literally an extension of our kitchen....Easy going, unpretentious, always good food, neighborhood people chatting to each other.. It tastes each time exactly how you expect it and when I want my schnitzel I want my Hatari schnitzel and nothing else will do! I pray that the owners will read this review and fall to my plead: PLEASE get Heinz ketchup (laughing at myself but damn I am almost ready to carry my own bottle and change hamburger buns. Really, the hamburgers are awesome but this ready standard McD style buns are killing it! (not in a good way). Other than that I could live there..."

Family friendly, lovely staff and interesting burger menu with vegan options too. Just don’t come too hungry! Bring a book and enjoy a drink whilst you wait... Visualizza piatti

Any other year I attend an important exhibition in Hamburg in March. This via the best place for burgers I found anywhere, not only in Hamburg. Run by very young people, service is great, quality and choice of burgers at best. Deeply recommended!

This place is always busy, so, you better book a table. There is also some outdoor seating. They have traditional German pub food with an outstanding value for money. Really big meals. Three main course orders may be good enough for at least four eaters.

This place is part of the local Bohemian scene, but ended being a great place to take the kids and try the local cuisine. We had the Kasespetzel with salad and the plate with three different sausages, sauerkraut and bread simple, but very good...and very filling. The atmosphere is very relaxed and ideal for kids. Low prices big (fatty) meals, german style! Must try in Hamburg, but maybe not for dinner as it might sit in your belly for the whole night! I would suggest the Bratwurst or the Speatzle over the Schnitzel (nothing special). Also the pizza and...the burger are pretty good. In the end it's a cozy and authentic german place to eat with pleasant staff.

Massive portions, plenty of fries on each dish. We both chose to try schnitzel for the first time which was great! The gravy was a great addition to the meal and there were about sauces on the table to choose from. We saw others...with pizza and burgers and they looked great too. Cheaply priced lunch out for a trendy place in Hamburg for meals, beer and a soft drink. Decor is a little run down, but the staff were friendly and provided English menus to us and also spoke very good English. Would return in the future to try their other dishes!

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
