"When we arrived it was quite full, good to have a reservation. Impressive building, a very old water mill, huge ageblackened oak beams set the atmosphere, along with unobtrusive golden oldies music. We were received in a friendly manner and did not have to wait...long for our food. The fare is comparable to English pub food: local German plates, well made, lots of calories, and which can be produced quickly. An excellent self service salad bar. Vegetarians will not find many options on the menu. The trout is extremely fresh: taken alive from a pond inside the restaurant... The food I found to be excellent if stodgy. I note that there are some poor reviews mainly to do with the waiters being too busy causing long waits. Although the restaurant was very full when we visited, we did not find this to be the case. Would happily visit again"

Our family stumbled upon this little place and had wonderful Christmas dinner after a day in the cave markets. It's such a cozy little spot with a live..

A Wednesday in March, a day not to remember because of the dinner. The location in an old watermill is nice. But the food wasn't at par; it wasn't bad, it..

We visited this restaurant while we were staying in traben trarbach. It was lovely and cosy on a cold night in January. The food and wine and services were first class. We would recommend it to everyone

We visited this restaurant in late December with adults and kids. The food and wine were all amazing! They even Offered customizable kid’s entrees...basically the kids say what they want and the kitchen makes it. The prices are a little steep for dinner,...but I can’t really complain about anything. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service was super. The Mosel valley is my favourite place in Europe to visit because of the friendliness of the people and the great hospitality! I highly recommend this restaurant

we were very disappointed and cannot understand the applications here. we sat at the top near an office workstation and surrounded by lofty (dead on the tablecloth and on the floor, living around us) and sprinkle on the wooden ceiling, beautiful atmosphere is different. the service was ok. to eat: we always have other supplements than in the card, in my eating was a hair and with my friend a piece of plastic/shell in the sauce (we couldn't exactly define) they can have a bad day, but we're sorry that the appetit is over.

Arrived P.M., warmly welcomed. As an old Mill, the front room connects directly to the flowing river, where my husband 'caught' our trouts. Most DeliciousOne cooked 'BLUE' old family recipe one with Almond Butter Sauce, about Euros with Wine Perfect, potatoes,...and an excellent salad bar not just lettuce but complete side dish salads. For a lunch on Tuesday, the crowd had already finished. The interior is things collected over the generations, would love to come back in the warmer months to have a drink in the terrace..

"Our December visit to Bernkastel was cold, but so it should be in winter. The Christmas market is clear and nice. A little warming could not hurt. So go straight to the well maintained Café Thiesen with well-stocked cake counter in the late afternoon. Café is understatement. The tables nicely covered with strengthened table cloths, the division of tables harmoniously. A large guest room is divided into nice plots, so there was also a certain privacy. Parking “before the door” can be forgotten here, but in the vicinity there is certainly always a place for the vehicle. Probably the boss greeted us nicely and gave us a Christmasly decorated 2 table. Something sweet could be, dinner was at the hotel later. The warm evening dishes served at the side tables looked very good. My husband ordered a cup of coffee to € 2.10 and I a glass, 0.2 l, fine Riesling (almost in short vacation) to € 3.50. The apple sauce with vanilla ice cream and cream at € 3.70 was served shortly later and tasted great. The strudel is delivered by the local confectionery, as and the boss reported. The finesse: At the bottom a grape vinegar that does not pass through and on top gold-yellow crispy foliage. I have never eaten this before, is also not original, but a great and tasty idea. In between a fine juicy apple filling. Applestrudel with vanilla ice cream Served on black 80s cellar with decorative powder sugar pollination. Very fine and the portion larger than it acts on the photo. We've been nice with a little chat. Here I would like to order a “right” meal next time. A really good impression, the Thiesen!"
