"this is a jewel of a restaurant near the university that specializes in Indian street cuisine. the food is always freshly prepared here; everything is homemade, including the brote and chutneys that are served as an appetizer. The vegetarian lunch menu is very cheap and offers daily changing specialties - such as delicious currys, suppen and salads - as well as the typical Kaalia roll, a delicious and spicy roll homemade Paratha bread, organic egg, cheese, chili, tomato, chutney and other delicacies. the weekly changing evening card with meat and fish dishes offers a refined and modern interpretation of Indian cuisine. the kaalia is led by a couple who spent a lot of time india, which expresses itself in its authenticity the eating that they create. the service here is always attentive and friendly, and the restaurant is charmingly furnished to create a really beautiful ambiente. I can recommend the kaalia warmest everyone who loves authentic, lovingly prepared Indian cuisine in a modern and friendly ambiente."

Best service, honest, friendly, welcoming. There are only a few restaurants where I felt as welcome as in Kaalia. Just like food. All right. On the other hand, let them convince. Absolutely earned 5 stars! Visualizza piatti

The best restaurant in Hamburg by far in my eyes. Wiebke and Ulf have created a culinary oasis with their small restaurant. With the Indian-European fusion cuisine, they are always thrilling us when we are there. Acts for every solemn occasion. Big movie! If you also like wine or Cremant, it's double good here. Even vegan extra requests can be implemented without any problems when booking. Simply great and you feel more like with friends who cook for a mega tasty. Who hasn't been there yet: go there.

kaalia is an intimate place suitable for people who like to taste something special, but also a great place for a nice and simple lunch snack or a delicious dinner. I lived and visited it frequently during my Hamburg holiday near the restaurant. kaalias host are two very friendly and inspiring people. when they eat there, they should expect to take a little of their enthusiasm. they have traveled far and seem to know one or two things about great aromes and good service. the dishes change from time to time and the chef put together very interesting taste combinations. although the kaalia is inspired by Indian themes, it is not an Indian restaurant per se. it is contemporary, fresh, aromatic... after a few traveling to india I have lust for good Indian food ... it took a while until I found an authentic Indian restaurant in Germany, and I was glad to have discovered kaalia. for lunch, they offer unique Indian street food such as misal pav and kati rolls to which they have discovered on their journey through india for themselves. next to the street food, the chef offers homemade bread and chutneys. for dinner, the restaurant gets a French flair and the spicy food is enriched by the French cuisine with delicious and hand-picked crying and liqueurs and the owners take care of every customer. the menu changes weekly/monthly and makes lust to be there every week. it is my favorite resta...

small cozy place, many organic ingredients, freshly cooked eating, limited menu, jazzy musical underpainting, so all ingredients for top points. but what they get on their teller and what they pay for it has made me give him only 3 stars. I ate too evening and took the fish main course, a doradefilet with rice (homemade recipe), brocoli, mango, chutney and inlaid auberginen. I got a small teller with two spoons of rice, a single fish fillet, 3-4 tiny, often half burned broccoli roasts, which were placed on a spoon of otherwise delicious mango cahutney, banana cahutney in the size of my little finger and 4 tiny cubes otherwise delicious aubergine. all for 19 euro. I thought it's a bit off. I...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
