"Das Essen kann man hier wirklich nur empfehlen. Sehr lecker und frisch und dieses Restaurant gibt es schon seit 35 Jahren. Also warum nur 3 Sterne. Wir haben hier zu 4 gegessen und waren rundum zufrieden bis die Rechnung kam. Diese lag bei 88 Euro was nicht das Problem war. Als wir sagten wir zahlen getrennt kam ein Betrag von 94 Euro zu stande. Verrechnen kann man sich ja mal aber wenn die erste Rechnung bei 50 liegt und man sagt den Rest auf die zweite Rechnung ist es eigentlich nicht wirklich schwer das auszurechnen. Die Bedienung hat hin und her gerechnet und dabei kam die Differenz raus. Haben uns etwas beschissen vorgekommen. Vielleicht versuchen wir es noch einmal aber nicht so schnell."

"Well we decided to have Indian food on the way back home from Austria and we found this restaurant. We ordered for a couple of Indian curries and daal tadka. It really took me to surprise when I saw the daal tadka prepared with black lentils and it was so spicy that we just couldn't enjoy the daal and the rest of the food was also not that commendable. The worst part was when my mother didn't want the ice cubes in her cola the steward took the spoon from my hand, removed the ice cubes and put it in the wine chiller next to our table. On a whole the dining experience was not what we were expecting and the service was not that great. The food was way too expensive compared to what we received. Not a very good impression of good Indian food and service on my German friends."

"We've been there for a long time with friends. We really liked it. Especially the food was really delicious. The menu is clear, but better small and good for it. The location is certainly one of the best things to offer. The staff is very friendly and fleeing. The rinderroulade wouldn't have got my mother better – and that's what I want. Because of this experience, I can only recommend the restaurant."

"Ich kann leider einige negative Bewertungen bestätige. Es zieht ständig. Liegt aber vermutlich am Platz. In der nähe der Theke kann man zumindest nicht sitzen. Die Crusheismaschine wummert so laut das man sein eigenes Wort nicht mehr hört. Das geht gar nicht!!! Hier sollten wenigstens mal Puffer unter das Gerät gebaut werden. Vorspeisenplatte für 4 ist OK. Aber die Salsa Soße dabei völlig geschmacklos und eisekalt. Passt nicht dazu. Man sollte Zeit mitbringen... Es dauert alles extrem lange. Am alten Standort war das besser. Die Einrichtung hätte man mal tauschen sollen. Stühle total unbequem und wackelig. Die Fahnen total abgegriffen und siffig. Lärmpegel und Hektik steigt mit der Anzahl der Gäste massiv an. Bedienung trotzdem freundlich und nett. Essen super warm und auch recht gut. Hätte aber etwas mehr würze vertragen. Alles recht neutral. Schärfe wird völlig vermisst. Die Salsa ist überflüssig und einfach nur irgendeine wässrige pampe. Da ist was fertiges aus dem Glas besser. Toiletten sehr eng, und auch nicht sonderlich sauber. Ein Gericht wurde extra ohne Salsa statt dessen mit saurer Sahne bestellt. Wurde nicht umgesetzt. Nachtisch haben wir ausgelassen weil es einfach viel zu spät wurde. Dieses Jahr leider nicht nochmal. Hatte mich eigentlich drauf gefreut..."

"Ich hatte zum Geburtstag eingeladen, um mal was anderes an Essen auszuprobieren von jung bis alt war alles dabei). Das Essen war geschmacklich in Ordnung; nur für europäische Gaumen ältere Gäste) war es durchweg zu scharf ohne Hinweis an den Speisen bzw. vom Personal). Den Schärfegrad könnte in der Karte vermerkt werden. Damit war es leider nicht für alle Gäste ein gelungener/schöner Abend Das Personal war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Restaurant war am Samstagabend gut besucht. Es hat sehr lange gedauert bis die Speisen tatsächlich kamen. über 50min beim ersten Essen des Hauptgangs, andere Gerichte noch länger) Was aber gar nicht akzeptabel war, das meine Gäste zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten ihr Essen erhielten. zur Verteidigung des Restaurants: proaktiv haben wir eine Runde Getränke aufs Haus und eine Entschuldigung erhalten) Dennoch musste ich dafür Sterne abziehen. Das Ambinte ist sehr schön gestaltet. Es sitzt sich sich sehr gut z. Teil Runde Tische). Man sollte aber den Pullover oder ein Jacket nicht vergessen, da es subjektiv für alle meine Gäste etwas zu frisch/ zu kühl war Ende Oktober 2023)"

"For lovers of good regional cuisine, the Hawwerkasten is a must. The food is hessian/German, instead of the usual fries, there are salt or roast potatoes or bread, industrial ingredients are up here, everything is fresh. The meat (the hessian cuisine is meat-laden) comes from the Mezgerei next door (one of two butchers in the water that do not belong to a größmetzger chain) and is always fresh so that you can enjoy Tartar without any problems. In the kitchen is a fryer, carvings and stools are roasted and juicy and tender. Fresh and well tapped here more in all variations, other varieties are available from the bottle. The wines offered are also good. The service staff is fast, competent and very friendly. Location: The Hawwerkasten is located on the outskirts of the Gießen city centre in the Neus Schloss/Zeughaus, close to office, country and company, right next to the government office and close to the employment agency. The house is one of the few remaining buildings after the Second World War, in it was already in the 1920s the Hawwerkasten . The interior is rustic with lots of wood, even the chairs and tables are old, but well maintained. In summer there are 10 tables in front of the house on small street 8 where the same dishes are served as in the restaurant. In the park opposite, a beer garden opens in summer, which has only small dishes on the map next to the drinks. The audience is mixed: There are regular guests on the counter who drink their evening beer here, there are regular tables that have been meeting here for many years, there are tourists who have come on recommendation, locals who occasionally come to enjoy a traditional dish like with the mamma and not to forget come often students. Conclusion: A very good, cozy, original place with a rustic, well maintained kitchen without taste."

"Ich ging an einem Samstag gemeinsam mit meiner Frau über den Gießener Markt, und bemerkte an der Pizzeria Roma ein Angebot, das mich ansprach. Sinngemäß: Alle Pizzen, die abgeholt werden 5 Euro. Da es Mittagszeit war, gingen wir rein, und ich bestellte eine Pizza Toscana. Ich fragte den Pizzabäcker, ob er nur die Hälfte der Pizza als Toscana machen könnte, und die andere mit Tomatensauce und Käse. Ja, das wäre möglich sagte der Mann. Da meine Frau keine Pilze ißt, freuten wir uns sehr. Wenig später kam eine andere Angestellte dazu, redete mit dem Pizzabäcker und plötzlich hiess es: Nein, es geht nicht. Sonst müsse der teurere Preis bezahlt werden. Meine Frau und ich, wir sahen uns an, und zuckten mit den Schultern, und eigentlich hatte ich an dieser Stelle schon Lust zu gehen. Ich bestellte dann doch die "Toscana", weil ich Hunger hatte, und meine Frau besorgte sich auf dem Markt ein Stück Kuchen. Der Pizzabäcker überreichte mir den Karton, er und die Angestellte wünschten mir einen guten Appetit, dann verließen meine Frau und ich das Restaurant. Ich öffnete den Karton und begann zu essen. Die Restauranttür ging auf und die Angestellte kam raus und sagte. Hier dürfe ich nicht essen. Es fiel uns schwer, zu fassen, was wir da grade erlebt hatten. Die Pizza war gut. Der Bäcker hatte sich Mühe gegeben. Aber die mangelhafte Gastfreundschaft, die wir erlebt hatten, beschäftigte uns noch sehr lange. Das war für uns das erste und das letzte Mal, dass wir in der Pizzeria Roma waren."

"We went here shortly after arriving in this university town about 45 minutes outside of the large Frankfurt. Our local friends stringy suggested trying the delectable concoctions ,add out of coffee, and other components , usually chocolate . I tried a cafe latte with, I kid you not, chocolate cookie dough. The tastes I was expecting was to be overbearingly sweet and obnoxious but instead it was tasty as hell, and balanced---quite delicate. The Germans know their chocolate, and their Christmas.I smiled after tasting the the chocolatey goodness and smiled even wider when I saw the toy train going around the small cafe by the Windows. Like the German Christmas markets that make Rockwell's depictions of American Christmas nostalgia quaint, the Germans know how to do Christmas.If you come to Giessen, take a few minutes and get yourself a great cup of coffee at a great local spot that will beat the Starbucks down the street( and I am a fan of Starbucks )."

"I have eaten here twice but more recently we had our wedding lunch here due to the prior experiences (especially my wife being from Giessen) but also it has a sophisticated atmosphere underneath in the cellars of a beautiful university building. The outdoor garden is also a quiet lovely place to eat in the warmer season overlooking the botanical gardens (oldest botanical garden in Germany).The menu is special as is the wine menu with many local ingredients and in season food items. The staff are always professional and for example when we sat with the head chef, he was very responsive with our dinner selection for our occasion and made good recommendations as our family & friends really enjoyed the long lunch.I recommend booking, lunches are very busy but it must be very nice here in the evening to eat among candles within the old alcoves of the cellar.Enjoy the experience. We will return many times."

"A visit here is always little a mini vacation in Italy. Very authentic food and atmosphere. Most of the times I will order one of the dishes from the seasonal menue that is offered. While the normal Pizza and Pasta are great as well, those extra dishes are really the outstanding thing. There are always a few varietes of home made pasta and other specials tempting you. Lately I had a veal-cotelette that was one of the best things I ever had in the place. This is also one of the restaurants you can easily take your vegetarian friends to, as especially the seasonal dishes typically offer good variety of non-meat dishes. If you go there make sure you have enough cash, no plastic accepted here. Give it a try and enjoy it!"
