La Rapière - Piatti

I only know la Rapière as a lunch venue but with a fixed menu for 19€ it was good value and friendly personal service. The portions are not huge but perfect for a sightseeing break. Very pleasant atmosphere and not overcrowded.

My husband and I ate here while visiting Bayeux. The food was good but nothing exceptional. The plates look pretty but the substance was average. The service for us was a bit slow and we found the experience disappointing considering how highly it was recommended.

La Rapiere in Bayeux is absolutely terrific. Nestled off a cozy lane in Bayeux, they far exceeded expectations. The food was superb and the service perfect. The tapestry, the WWII memorials and the lovely town are all great - Le Rapier adds memorable food to the list of things to do in Bayeux. I've been twice in recent months and both meals were first rate, beautifully presented and served by friendly and attentive staff. Some good value wines recommended also. Look no further for a fine meal in Bayeux at a reasonable price.

We had a meal for 6 and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Tucked in to a characterful side street it is away from the main throng of restaurants. Quaint but comfortable inside. Full of charm with excellent staff. The wi E was wonderful and the food exceptional. Our table had lamb and steak- both first rate. Our bill came in at €75/head after much wine so not too catastrophic.This was by far the best meal we had in Bayeux.

Without exception, we enjoyed all our meals in Bayeux--from an expensive lunch to a sidewalk pizza--but this restaurant was truly a joy. It's down an alley from the main street, which made us feel we had discovered a secret place. The welcome was warm and the surroundings cozy. Service is friendly but also very correct. We enjoyed cocktails made from Calvados and Pommeau, followed by some interesting wines. The cuisine was superb. It's not dressy per se, but casual elegance is called for here. After reading travel books, tour guide advice and Trip Advisor reviews, we just had to visit La Rapiere. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. We chose the evening fixed price menu dinner option which is 46 to 50 Euros per person depending on entree selection (includes appetizer, local clean plate, main course, cheese and dessert). We selected the fillet of grilled brill (fish) and french beef fillet. Both entrees were absolutely delicious!! Would highly recommend dining at this charming restaurant and add to your Bayeux/Normandy, France trip experience. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time.

The restaurant is located along a kind of alley off the main road and is therefore very quiet. It is truly a fine dining experience but very reasonably priced.The decor is modern and very tasteful and elegant. We were greeted warmly and the staff are expertly trained. The cuisine is inventive and tastes wonderful and the wine recommendations were spot on. Reservations are strongly recommended. Though you do not have to dress up- we saw diners in jeans and casual attire- you are having a really nice meal in a nice setting so you may wish to take it up a notch or two. I cannot imagine any of the meal offerings being bad here- it seems a class act from start to finish.

We visitied La Rapiere during July 2017. I had the Foie Gras as starter and the Boeuf as main. The Mrs had the Japanese Tuna Sallad and the Boeuf. They were all very well prepared and tasted delicious. In between the dishes we got to taste some apple sorbet with calvados and some other small local starters. I really urge you too select the menus because its the small things in between that really combines it all to a wonderful experience. The host and the servants was excellent in their treatment.
