"We worked up an appetite on the steep climb through winding streets to see the massive château at the summit and were rewarded with a lovely meal at Le Donjon. My enormous Perigordian salad featured a slab of foie gras (with a delicious onion conserve...on the side), thinly shaved slices of smoked duck, and tender gizzards atop a bed of fresh greens, tomatoes, and walnuts. My husband's leg of duck was perfectly cooked, then sliced in the traditional fan-shaped way. There is seating on a terrace with far-reaching views, as well as indoor tables."

Beautiful terrace with plenty of shade provided by large parasols. Delicious and huge perigord salad. However, omelet was salted and burned. Appropriate price for tourist area.

Perfect position a little way from the Chateau entrance. Very helpful polite staff, great seating areas to the front and side. We had omelettes, then crepes with sugar lemon. This was served quickly and was very good and at a fair price (unlike...nearer the Chateau).

first restaurant on our way out of the visit of the castle, we settle on the terrace and a very kind boy takes care of our table: he presents us the map, advises us with humour and kindness. to the final menu very copied, of quality notably the foie gras with a correct addition.

we have lunch on the terrace in this restaurant located just at the foot of the castle. We ate a false net, a burger and a perigourdine plate.Very copyy and very good products. a special mention for home fries. We have enjoyed it. The reception is professional and friendly despite the strong tourist period. Restaurant to be recommended.

We visited the restaurant for lunch with our family of six. Four of us had cheeseburgers and they were really good. A big size too. Our daughter had a menu enfant for 9€ and she was happy with her chicken nuggets and chips and a...crepe for dessert. I had a cheese, ham and tomato omelette with salad and enjoyed it. The restaurant is open and has a good atmosphere with lovely views. The waiters were friendly and service was quick.

Ok we didnt realize the climb ( you can get there by car) but arriving in le Donjon a small place near the castle was a Nice surprise.Inbedded in 70 ties rockmusic mee met quick efficiënt service with a little rocknroll touch. We had a lovely Tuna for main course and some delicious rosé Provence to go with it. And you can eat a good steak here, and the have lovely ice desserts as well. Most convincing for us the good adequate not tourist-trap -way of serving us . Very good indeed and worth the climb!

"Overall average experience at the restaurant which is disappointing considering the price level. Food was a 4/5 but service was average at 3 and atmosphere/ambiance was poor at 1. Food presentation was a 5. Foie gras and cheese plate were average which is surprising for the region. Risotto with a supplement was not worth the extra money. Scallops, goose breast and chocolate dessert were great. Service was average mostly because the waiter and waitress would drop and run. I ordered wine pairings and I can not tell you what wine I had as they poured and ran away. As for the poor atmosphere/ambiance, the lighting is way too bright. You need sunglasses. Dimmers need to be installed to create a more intimate/romantic environment. Lastly, there was a table of 7 sitting next to where we were seated. 4 adults, 3 children. The parents allowed the youngest of the three to ruin the evening of many patrons as the child was permitted to run freely throughout the dining room. From one end to the other with multiple stops at our table. When the child wasn’t running he was whining at the table as he demanded to be free to roam. The parents may have thought it to be cute but this was not the place for them or their misbehaved child. The wait staff never even acknowledged this with us during service or even when we were paying. This was the ultimate disappointment as it would have been appreciated had they at least mentioned it or offered an after dinner drink as a way to express their thanks for us having to be seated directly next to the inconsiderate family."
