"We had lunch here 3 years ago and were charmed by the ambience of the setting. Eating al fresco on a balcony overlooking a river weir is a great experience. However, the staff were efficient but unsmiling, just as they were 3 years ago! We chose a €27 2 course set meal (very expensive in itself) comprising 6 oysters or (cold) pea soup starter and lamb or salmon main course -hardly exotic or costly to produce. The presentation was good but quantities were small (as last time). We decided to have a dessert to fill up, to find that the 2 dessert choices both contained strawberries (which i can't eat). Who decided that menu?!. We were told we could have creme brulee instead, so we did. When we got the bill for nearly €100 (including 2 aperitifs, 2 glasses of wine and 2 coffees) we were quite taken aback! The small creme brulees had been priced at €10 each from the very expensive a la carte menu! We feel the dishes offered here are fairly simple to produce and do not warrant the high prices charged. We won't go back as there is better value in the area."

Dinner by the water. beautiful view, very pleasant water noise. excellent foie gras, original egg raviole, dorade and very good paste risotto. nice dinner, for a jacket for the cool dinner nice

A delicious lunch by the river with friends. The food was delicious, in particular the starters which were exceptional and beautifully presented. The staff were efficient and friendly. Will definitely go back if in the area.

We decided to go here for lunch as we had read many good reviews of the food and the location. We were very disappointed with the food and the service we received. The formula was just frites and steak which was very tough. We were placed in a corner away from everyone else and it was obvious that they did not want us there. We regularly eat out at gourmand restaurants but this is one we will not be going back to.

a first visit following a friend's recommendation to celebrate my husband's birthday what a delightful experience. The service was perfect, a beautiful setting with view of the river, a busy lunchtime crowd superb choice of menus the Dorade with chickpeas filet mignon with chorizo of particular note. Good to have a choice of wine by glass or half bottle amuse bouche even though we did not order an aperitif. Price for 2 was less than 80euros for 2 with 3 4 courses. We will be returning.

Stayed here at the end of August 2017. Great position right on the river bank with a mill stock flowing past, Had a very comfortable room overlooking the river opening onto a large first floor terrace shared with several other rooms. The terrace could do with some smartening up with planters or dividers, and the entrance to the hotel is rather bleak with no garden or soft landscaping. We arrived to a fairly cool welcome just before they shut for the afternoon, and shut means shut, there is no reception open or way into the hotel. Once in however, the food was excellent, both in quality and variety, and a good satnav will take you to the door through the maze of streets

We went to Le Moulin Neuf to celebrate a retirement and a wedding anniversary. We reserved online trying for a 19.30 reservation. They responded with a 2000 reservation which was no problem for us. As it happens, we arrived at the same time as numerous other parties so we believe they start the dinner service at 2000.The staff were very efficient and got us to our table quickly which was located alongside the window overlooking the river which was very pleasant. The restaurant also has a hotel side, hence the web-site, we only tried the restaurant, which is situated along side the Charente River in Angouleme, although strictly a suburb of Gond Pontouvre. We dined inside in April, although there is seating outside and during the warmer summer months it will be most enjoyable to dine outside over looking the river and the wild-life. This is now my favourite summer restuarant for dining out and we will be returning. The price was very reasonable, we had the €34 menu and a bottle of rose wine and bottle of water made the bill €40 each for 4 people. "Saturday evening 10/28, dinner at the gourmet restaurant Les Sources de Fontbelle for the 2nd time (5 guests). The first time we were really enchanted by the setting, the service, the aperitif on the terrace and the chef 's proposal. On the other hand, this 2nd experience is very far from what I hoped to be able to experience again. Already from the aperitif we started on a bad basis with a little discriminatory side. This is the only restaurant that punishes you for appetizers because you do not have an aperitif (glass of champagne or cocktails) confirmed by the waiter. All the tables had different appetizers but not our table due to the simple fact that we had a bottle of white wine to start. I learned that you had to like champagne or cocktails to deserve the same service as on the other tables, which is unfortunately not the case for me and my guests followed me, sad for them (I should add which we also had a bottle of red wine afterwards). I find this lamentable for a gourmet restaurant, one Michelin star and for the 8-course menu at €130. For dinner, I was not transported compared to the first time. But this does not deserve criticism because tastes and colors are unique to each person: combination of trout and geranium, lobster and grapefruit (average for me) and cabbage (favorite). For dinner I just regretted that for the pigeon we didn 't ask for cooking and that we didn 't specify that it was very, very spicy. In conclusion, the experience inoculated me for a moment."
