"In Lille over an April weekend to watch Paris Roubaix. Le Pot Beaujolais (situated just off the main square) was our choice for a Friday evening meal. We walked past the restaurant en route to our accommodation and it jumped out at us it looks like the sort of restaurant you 'd find in rural France, rather than in the middle of a city. Having just arrived in the town, we had no reservation but the very friendly staff found us a table. Dishes are traditional French (steaks, andouillette, stew). I planned to order the Pot au feu but it wasn 't available so settled on a delicious Pike quenelle in leek fondue. The charcuterie/cheese board we shared as a starter was also good, as was the apple pie for dessert. It 's very easy in Lille to find a chain restaurant or modern bistro, particularly in the centre of town. It 's probably harder to find a 'little gem ' Le Pot Beaujolais is definitely the latter."

small rustic-style restaurant and authentic French cuisine, I have tested, among other things, the marrow bone and the lamb skewer, a real treat!

the Beaujolais pot, my fetish address in a league for over 15 years. fresh homemade products, a selection of wines made by the boss, an atmosphere of thunder doubled with a service in good mood and in a vintage setting left in his juice. Go ahead and get your eyes closed, but reserve before!

Wow. This restaurant was a find I will never forget. In amongst all the glammed up places and the Americanised diners, there's this honest beautiful little restaurant that could be in a village somewhere deep in rural France. It's an absolute oasis amongst the bustle of the city. The food was fantastic. The pot au feu would feed half an army! Steak perfect! I so enjoyed our meal here on my birthday weekend. The staff were lovely and everything is very reasonably priced. An absolute gem that I'm heading straight back to next time I'm in Lille.
