"After a twelve-kilometer loop walk from the station of Boissy-l’Aillerie, partially along the path of the 2,000-year old Julius Cæsar Causeway, my walking companion and I enjoyed lunch at L’Onyx. L’Onyx [formerly Au Temps des Copains] lies in the heart of town, a couple of steps from the picturesque 12th-13th century Church of Saint-André with its flying buttresses. L’Onyx is open for lunch from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM on weekdays. The interior is spacious and a small patio is annexed to the main dining room. A bandstand and small dance floor are used on weekends when DJ’s or live bands perform. The slateboard offered two-course lunches for €16; either starter plus main course or main course plus dessert, a quarter-liter of wine included. My companion chose a vegetable quiche followed by a generous salade niçoise; I preferred grilled hampe de bœuf [beef shank] with fries and crème brulée. Although the fries were tasty, the beef was not particularly tender. Service was excellent. With a liter of San Pellegrino sparkling water, a Chimay Trappist ale and coffee, the check came to less than €40.00 for two. It’s a seven-minute walk downhill to the train station."
