"As beautiful as the old brick building looks right next to the striking Marienkirche Lübecks, you will surely also overlook the fact that in its basement, since 2019, the “Manna” has opened a new restaurant dedicated to Asian and sushi cuisine. The owner and chef has previously held sushi cooking classes in Lübeck and now tries to bring this profession to the customer in a restaurant (in which he still offers these courses outside view. A small staircase leads to the guest room in the basement. Interior view. The decor does not welcome the guest particularly decorative and also the metal ventilation pipes on the ceiling are not so right in the ambience, but everything is clean, modern and also the lighting ensures a pleasant atmosphere. Free Wi-Fi is also provided here. The service took care of the late afternoon of my visit to the boss personally. The reception was friendly but during the visit I would have liked, for example, an additional demand for satisfaction and thus symbolized attention and interest in the guest. After all, at that time I was the only guest in the restaurant. At first glance, the menu does not have any surprises to most Asian and Sushi restaurants. Only in the “modern style special rolls” a roll of gold leaves allows a ribéry feeling (who needs it... . A special feature could be found at the end of the menu, which I have not yet found in Lübeck: The Thali plates, a kind of Asian tapas plate, which consists of various supplements served on a plate in individual peels. Unfortunately, my demand for this court answered that this food is not available at the moment. Very bad, but in the current menu, this Thalis does not appear at all So I left it during this first visit when ordering with the Green Veg Poke Bowl for 9.9€. This was waiting with rice, avocado, edamame, cucumber, pineapple, carrot, wakame, red herbalate and corn and was served together with a teriyaki sauce. Green Veg Poke Bowl . Most of the ingredients were remarkably fresh and also freshly prepared: crisp red cabbage, edamame and wakame with bite, juicy cucumber and carrot strips, as well as an avocado with good ripeness justified this impression. The rice remembered something about sushi rice in its grain and tackiness, which was right here. Only the corn and the pineapple were noticed their origins from the can. The Teriyaki sauce brought a sweet spice into play, but the dish still lacked noticeably other spices and especially acidity. This was surprising in that the pomegranate and coriander advertised in the map or Sesame might have been able to deliver that, but unfortunately in the bowl served me shined with absence. Thus, the whole remained very pale, boring and did not correspond to the composition announced in the map. On the bottom, the “Manna Sushi” has left me a rock print that doesn’t really move me to a new visit. My ordered Poke Bowl was perhaps worth its price in quantity, but the lack of ingredients and tasteful Pfiff draw the price-performance ratio down. So the restaurant for me cannot really stand off from the many other Asian restaurants in the city. This would have been possible with the “Thali plates”, but this also turned out to be an air number."
