"With visiting Leek again we decided to get a takeaway from Mehek for a second time. This wasn't a straight forward call and then collect, as when I called the mobile contact I was informed the restaurant staff were stuck in traffic. However they would send our order through to the kitchen staff once they received our message. There was an understandable delay when we turned up as the restaurant staff were still stuck in traffic. Despite all this going on the customer service we received was good. We thoroughly enjoyed the takeaway of Patiala Rara Lamb, Murg Makni, Achari baigun, Garlic Naan and Paratha. The stand out dish was the aubergine dish of Achari baigun so flavourful and tasty. We would recommend Mehek and we hope to return."

Incredible Indian Christmas dinner. The most juicy huge prawns and authentic curry. A whole chicken. Can’t wait to visit again for genuine tasty food.

My wife and I celebrated New Year’s Eve meal at Mehek. Absolutely delicious food and fantastic atmosphere, the inclusion of the live piano music was a pleasure. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Walked in midweek and had a fabulous meal. All meals were really tasty. Lovely ambiance, friendly and laid back/relaxed feeling. The food is always top drawer whenever we have been and can’t rate it high enough! (Recommend: Salmon fillet Bangladesh style…..heavenly!

Awful. Very rude. Booked a travel several hours before arriving only to be told they had no record of our booking when we arrived and refused to seat us , despite the restaurant being completely empty at the start of the evening. No apologies and couldn’t have been ruder and more unwelcoming if they tried

We travelled to Mehek on 04/11/23 as part of a 35 group from the local cricket club and as always, what a fantastic evening. Considering their was a large number of us and a busy restaurant, the food was amazing, really fresh and tasty, the service was excellent and the whole experience was just spot on. We cant recommend this place enough! A big THANK YOU to Ebu and all of his staff for a wonderful evening. We cant wait for our next visit.

A family of 8 for Christmas lunch, the experience was simply outstanding! The food was superb covering an age range of 68 years between youngest and oldest. The biggest of appetites could not quite manage all that was offered (though we gave it a good go! and the lighter palates were just as well catered for with delicately spiced sea bass and more. Gol Goppa was a wonderful appetiser I had never experienced before which was just fantastic. Final mention for the Murgh Mossallan which was simply out of this world. Service was entertaining and outstanding as was the value of the day as a whole. Excellent from beginning to end.

"Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while the village was quiet with only two pubs and a small corner store, it seemed to be a shortcut for heavy vehicles speeding downhill at night, with headlights constantly illuminating our room. We also found out that the hotel closes in the evening if it's not busy, and the front door may be locked as early as 10 PM, requiring a code for re-entry. The internet service was poor; even standing just outside the front door, I had no reception and couldn't call the emergency numbers posted there. It appears that the quality of the rooms varies significantly, with some having been upgraded while others are less desirable, including our own. When we questioned our bill because we didn't think the room was worth £140, we were told that since we had booked through Charming Escapes, we should take it up with them, as the hotel receives only a fraction of what we paid. This made us feel like second-class guests, especially since it seemed we were stuck in a low-quality room. The standard rate for a double room is £90, and if I were to rate our experience like on the TV show "Four in a Bed," I would say £50 a night would have been generous. Previous reviews also mentioned an issue with the door handle and the ability to lock the room, which had not been fixed. If you’re just looking for a place to dry off your hiking boots, this hotel might suffice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here again. It has a lot of potential, and thankfully, we had a wonderful evening at The Devonshire Arms just across the street—it felt like a whole different experience. It seems the staff at Charles Cotton have simply given up."
