Definitely better than expected. Lots of selection for sushi. Could use some more selection for other foods, but it's still worth 10.50 euro for an all you can eat lunch.

Food was quite fair for the price and considering it's a buffet. There was a variety of meat dishes, not so many vegetarian options. The food quality was okay, nothing too special.

Clean an welcoming atmosphere. Mongolian barbecue ok but asian buffet was disappointing having in mind the price. I did not try the sushi but it looked ok, it did take up half the space of the buffet table.

The service was the worst ever. the owner of the place does not speak english (should go to school before opening a restaurant in the city where all the tourists come to vist) she spoke with us German without stopping after we told her several...times that we do not speak German and then she just said that she is not interested in having us as guests. So rude and unprofessional.

Well this was a let down. Was looking forward to some good quality sushi, and now I am still looking. The hot meal offerings were no better, the bland lemon chicken in batter was all batter and little chicken. Sushi only consisted of a couple...of nigiri choices and a few types of rolls, salmon yes, tuna no where to be seen. Don't come after 1.30, even though closing was at 3 for lunch, because the hots were not topped up. The food just sits in the trays continuing to overcook. It did not even look appetising. What makes this restaurant special is the balance between a wide variety of sushi, hot dishes, dim sum, barbecue of meat, fish or sea food and a very friendly service. A large variety of desserts, fruit salad, icecream, Tiramisu and some other cakes extend the...package. The wine was not expensive yet the taste was, as everything else, better than average at the price range. In a nutshell, a very attractive price-performance ratio for a well located restaurant in the center of Hamburg. Make sure to make reservations to avoid waiting and enjoy the treat.

Mr Cherng was found through Google and Trip Advisor and it was well worth the visit. Located fairly centrally in the inner city and easy to find. The restaurant is very popular and it was my impression that it is stuffed with people at...all times families and larger parties seems to be the norm. To me, it was a bit nostalgic as the talk and noise level reminded me of going out for food in Shanghai and eating at a popular restaurant tons of people talking, laughing and having a good time. In an all you can eat buffet, to me the most important things are cleanliness, freshness, quality and variety. Mr. Cherng had all of these things full on. I had a great lunch there. There were at least 10 different sushi choices, soup, several different kinds of dumplings,...noodles, fried rice, and about 12 chafing dishes with fresh choices from beef to chicken to pork to shrimp dishes. These dishes mixed the standard (Sweet and Sour, Beef with Broccoli, etc. with some interesting choices, particularly a bean sprout salad I enjoyed very much.
