"Neill's Hill is a cozy neighborhood restaurant located in Ballyhackamore. The atmosphere is relaxed and modern, featuring artwork by local illustrator Peter Strain. The menu offers a variety of small plates, local meats, fresh seafood, and even a dedicated vegan menu. Every Wednesday until September, they host Tapas Nights with an authentic Spanish small plates menu. During our visit, we tried a selection of sharing dishes that were all delicious. We enjoyed bread with aioli, roasted padron peppers, patatas bravas, cauliflower wings with garlic and chilli dressing, cheesy polenta chips with pesto, whitebait, crispy paprika squid with rocket, and smoked salmon cream cheese pintxo. For dessert, we indulged in traditional Iberian sweet treats like pastel de nata and churros with chocolate sauce. To complement our meal, we also tried a couple of fantastic cocktails - the Grapefruit Gimlet and the Vietnamese Coffee, a creamy twist on an espresso martini. Special thanks to Neill's Hill for their delicious tapas and to the talented Matt Joe for creating the perfect musical backdrop, transporting us from rainy Belfast to sunny Spain. Muchas gracias!"

I was tempted by her creative street sign in neills hill, which I can say I am a sucker for clever slogans and marketing. I'm glad I noticed the sign.

on the first impression, neill’s hill tick all boxes, soft mood lighting, quirky decorations and candles, which are made of empty bottles gin, atmospheric.

Loads of gluten free options and clearly labelled on the menu. I had the burger which came with a gluten free bun. Food was excellent. Service was great. Really nice atmosphere inside.

Warm friendly staff with an amazing breakfast menu. The Irish breakfast was so lovely as was the coffee. Also very nice to venture outside of the city centre. A must visit which is open all day.

Lovely welcoming restaurant with friendly staff. Arrived without a booking midweek and they found us a table promptly. Varied choice on menu and tasty well presented food. Reasonable priced drinks.

Great service and delicious food. We ordered two courses from the set menu (Tuesday to Thursday) which is very good value. I have food allergies and I was reassured that my food choices were suitable and that care would be taken in the kitchen.

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. The atmosphere, presentation, prices, food, portion sizes, service, i could go on and on. If you want a great menu with massive variety here’s the place to go. The kids menu as well has great portions (not too big, not too small) with a wide variety of foods that any kid would love. If I could give this 100 stars I would!

We were not satisfied with our experience at this restaurant for brunch today. I had made a reservation for my partner on Father's Day with our kids, but we arrived a bit late. I called ahead to let them know, and they were understanding but mentioned that our table needed to be returned by 12:15. We arrived at 10:55 and did not receive our food until 11:35. The service was slow even though the restaurant was not very busy. The food was unimpressive, with burnt caramelized onions and a lackluster dish for me. The portion sizes were small, and the prices seemed excessive. The atmosphere was pretentious and the staff was okay, but overall we were disappointed with our experience. We won't be r...

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."

"I'm an American. I was invited to work at the queen’s university in a global conference. my airline has moved my baggage, so I stopped in the barking dog to use her wlan to check the status of my baggage and have a drink and a snack with my associate who has unusual allergies. the menu had nothing to call us, so we have decided to finish and move only our drinks./ at no point has anyone informed that it is illegal to have only drinks, and our server ran our review without mentioning any legal requirements. After I paid, someone who I suspect, the manager, came to the table and checked our reception. exactly what I thought was what they said before they cheated on me how it is illegal to buy drinks in a restaurant without eating. I apologised and explained that I had no warning. I offered to buy food retroactive and they refused. then they repeated that I was in a restaurant and not in a pub and that my activities were illegal. they denied my multiple attempts to apologise me while I explained that I am not out of the opposite. this experience was very confusing for me, because the night before me had drinks in a restaurant without food and it was no problem. in any case I was told that there is no such law and that the ordering of drinks without eating in a restaurant is very common. I've never been treated so badly in a customer service dynamic and I'm not sure why this happened. I feel targeted and totally mistreated for what does not seem to be a good reason. To finish it, it was my birthday. complete error in the name of what this person was. I will say the rest of the staff was very pleasant and accommodating."
